Well, in Naruto, rank means a lot. Naruto is a genin still simply due to the story and Kabuto is actually a missing nin if I remember correctly

But their ranks show how much battle experience and skill they possess based on the shinobi combat system and the people, aka the Hokage, ranking their abilities and skills. Just because Sasuke has shown more than Gaiden Kakashi doesn't mean they are even close to equal. Sasuke is a main character so it is obvious more will have been shown than Gaiden Kakashi, since we've only seen him in 6 chapters at that point.

Sasuke, a genin at this point, vs Kakashi, who just became a Jounin in the Kakashi Gaiden?

I feel like people are really underestimating the difference between a Genin level ninja and a Jounin level ninja. Kakashi should take this fairly easily since Sasuke cannot use his cursed seal. Even with it, I'm quite confident that Kakashi, being a Jounin, would have no problem keeping up with Sasuke in terms of speed and strength. With his Sharingan eye, Kakashi defeated a jounin level rock ninja in a couple panels. I feel the same result would happen with Sasuke.
