Roberta Santiago is Dexter Girand's care taker and servant, the Santiago's have had a very long tradition working for the Irish family known as the Merryweather's, this tradition goes as far back as to the 1700's.

The Santiago family came from Spain to Venezuela as the very first colonists of Venezuela in the year 1522, at the time the Santiago's were mildly wealthy farmers but struggled to pay the heavy taxes which were imposed on them, a hundred and seventy-eight years pass by when the Santiago family finally break from the weight of debt and end up losing their farm.

With no farm the Santiago had no other means of paying the taxes the Spanish Government demanded, as a result the Spanish Government seized them and auctioneered them away to the highest bidder. Fortunately a wealthy and very kind Irish man known as Wallace Merryweather bought them and unlike most slave masters at the time he was not ruthless and nor did he even like slavery.

Wallace Merryweather had a great deal of wealth thanks to his discovery of a gold mine back in Ireland as well as his inheritance from previous ancestors, Wallace Merryweather was an adventurous fellow and in his adventures he continued to amass a vast wealth that he did not know what to do with it!
