So August 30th Cyclops and Colossus dropped as free DLC characters.

Looks like I'm eating a slice of humble pie because the game was actually good and made for Marvel fans (in general) and not specifically MCU fans. As far as the X-Men roster we have: Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Magneto (unlockable), Colossus (unlockable DLC) and Cyclops (unlockable DLC) Not to mention if you get the season pass there are supposed to be more X-Men characters in 2020

The X-Men themed stage was my personal highlight of the game. So i definitely recommend the game especially since it's one of the few modern games that has the X-Men playable that isn't ba Lego Marvel game.

Ultimate Allaince 3 do the characters justice since the movesets are true to the characters. In a surprise turn of events Storm was actually my favorite character to play with in the game until Cyclops. Cyclops moveset has just about every optic blast. You have your standard straight shot (which you can hold for a constant blast and still move around), You have the wide shot, you have the shot that bounces off of walls, the evasion shot that launches and his standard heavy attack is an optic sweep. Slim has been my go to since X-Men Legends and the fact they have a modern take on the classic 90's appearance makes this my favorite playable version of him. Colossus takes a close 2nd place because they FINALLY gave him good moves. Usually Colossus' moveset is boring but the grapples, oh man, the grapples. It is SO satisfying to grab an enemy and swing them around like a rag doll before slamming them on the ground. He also has a tackle charge attack (like he had in Marvel vs Capcom 2)

Honestly it's clear the developers got inspiration for character movesets from Marvel vs Capcom. Venom has his signature leap attack, Colossus has the tackle, Storm jumps back to do her hail storm attack, Magneto has his beam attacks as his light attacks, etc. So i am crossing my fingers that Juggernaut will be a playable character so i can headcrush everything LMAO

My only complaint is that the alternate costumes are mostly lame pallette swaps. Wolverine does get the Brown/Gold costume but everyone else's is kinda lame. They might fix some of them thought because the free update had Captain Marvel's "Miss Marvel" costume and symbiote Spider-Man. If Storm got her 90's costume I'd be excited but I won't hold my breath to assemble the crew from my favorite animated series to fight sentinals. Hopefully Gambit and/or Rouge are planned.

The main problem with the voices (in my opinion) were that they were unexplained when introduced and instead of interacting with side characters we had Wade interacting with himself which made him more of a "LULZ SO RANDOM" character instead of the "badass" Wade was prior to Daniel Way's run. I would rather they introduce more side characters for Wade in the comics than see the return the "crazy" boxes. They have ran their course.

In fact another reason is that the voices dumbed down the character for long term fans. You read some of the stuff old stuff from Joe Kelly and you start to see Deadpool as more of a character. Yeah he still has his wacky shananagins and manged to show he's a bad ass but not at the expense of the depth of his character. The voices were the beginning transition from Deadpool being a complex tragic character into into a "Ran-dumb" character. I cannot speak for all Deadpool fans (really too many of them nowadays) but personally Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force and Gerry Duggan's The Good, The Bad and the Ugly represent the character well in my opinion. You get a little bit of the funny, you get characters for Wade to interact with so it's not a "nonstop joke machine" and you start to see there is actual depth in Wade's character.

Cautious optimism. Its been a Marvel game drought so anything shown is a step in the right direction... however if you been paying attention to the gaming industry there is akways some "hustle" and i wanna know theirs before I'm willing to drop money. The "hype culture" prominent in gaming usually leads people to wildly speculate about what would be cool which is usually what isn't what we get.

Not only that this isn't the same Marvel behind classics like X-Men legends 1/2, ultimate alliance 1/2, Marvel vs Capcom 1/2, etc. They used to put fans first. We are talking post MvC3 Marvel who puts the MCU first. Willingly ignoring fan favorites to push certain MCU characters (see MCU vs Capcom: Infinite) Hearing allegations from behind the scenes about how Marvel told artists to make Capcom's side less "appealing" aka ugly compared to Marvel's side, people who showed the game early couldn't show Marvel characters losing, etc. Disney's version of Marvel have proved they don't care about X-Men fans for the last couple of years...so I'm skeptical having Wolverine in the trailer means they won't shaft X-Men fans as usual.

Hopefully I'm wrong though. Given their track record cautious optimism is the best i can have.

So while at work yesterday I ran across an article that said there was an untitled Deadpool movie that was coming out in December...as in this December...and I was like "What? 2 Deadpool movies in one year? O_O" but then I saw another article that said they were re-releasing Deadpool 2 in December with a PG-13 rating that was supposed to add some new scenes and...yeah...

Source: "https://global-update-news.com/deadpool-2-pg-13-version-hitting-theaters-in-december-2018/"

PG-13 Deadpool...Fox has been acquired by Disney...my common sense is tingling...Like I work at a halloween store and I have had maybe like 3 or 4 people come in and be like "Is there a Deadpool costume for kids?" and I tell them no. After seeing what a PG-13 Deadpool looks like in Disney's eyes back in Ultimate Spider-Man (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8YM1qLp8EY) I just have a bad feeling about this...

I guess I'm in the minority that liked Apocalypse and wanted to see what Fox was going to do going forward with the new X-Men squad. Especially after successes like Logan and Deadpool. People argue that Fox made bad movies but conveniently forget MCU made bad movies like Captain America, Age of Ultron and you might get ready to add a bunch more since the MCU is planning to add more "diverse" characters like Miss Marvel and more female directors post Avengers 4. The era of super hero movies for entertainment might be turning into super hero movies for ideological indoctrination post Avengers 4. Now THAT dampers my excitement.

No because the articles I read say Deadpool is a pansexual meaning he is only attracted to frying pans.

Well what I feared and/or wanted is coming true: http://boundingintocomics.com/2018/06/10/marvel-studios-kevin-feige-promises-different-incarnations-of-characters-after-avengers-4/

The inevitable fall of the MCU due to the injection of identity politics. Pretty much the stuff ruining the comics is going to be ruining the movies post Avengers 4 (Where some fan favorite actors will retire the roles) except we'll see if the general movie audience will accept or reject these new heroes. I can't wait. If what is happening to Star Wars is anything to go by then we are in for a real treat from our mouse overlords. *grabs popcorn* Where do I preorder?

If I am being 100% honest I was disappointed with the issue. When I was at my comicbook shop I seen the variant cover with the classic phoenix costume and opened up to the first page and the art looked legit so I bought it in good faith. Especially after I enjoyed the first hunt for wolverine and mystery in madripoor but this was just...as soon as I got to the second page and seen the lineup (Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Trinary, Wolverine and Honey Badger) I knew I done messed up LMAO

I told my wife I felt ripped off because of the bait and switch. The first page art looked good then it just...wow...like I know people have different art styles but the art for 90% is just ugly. If someone told me this was a fanmade comic then I would have believed them because the art for majority of the book is not what I personally would expect from a professional working at Marvel. Despite that I tried to give the book a chance and just ignore the art. That's when the cringy dialogue started to happen. It started with the Old Man Logan's interaction, the the hot dog lecturing *smh* Jean Grey is literally back from the dead and 4-5 pages is spent on some random dude named chad who threw a hot dog THEN 2-3 pages are wasted with Jean Grey doing parlor tricks for honey badger. In my opinion those were 6-8 pages wasted. I'm sorry but I just find it hard to believe hardcore jean grey fans wanna see Jean come back to lecture some dude named chad and do simple tricks for a kid. It's like all the stuff I wanted to see was skimmed over and had green boxes giving the TL;DR (like reuniting with the X-Men, Rachel Grey interaction, etc.) but we could spend 6-8 pages on what I personally would consider "bullshit"...on top of the "bad" art (seriously jean grey's "action pose" against black bolt looked like she was taking a dump)...on top on the "identity politics" which took away from the moments I would have liked to see such as reacting to her husband's death, reacting to wolverine's death, reacting to emma frost, reacting to the severe lack of mutants in the world, etc. Hell I hate the original 5 but I'd rather jean grey interact with those losers.

I know I'm a Cyclops fanboy but based off this issue I can't help but feel like jean grey is doing her own version of a "mutant revolution" possibly an extension of her late husband's efforts. I feel as though this was a perfect opportunity to have her either vindicate her husband or criticize his actions then decide her own path. It didn't even have to be that black or white. She could have had a conversation with beast where she agrees that cyclops was going too far but had a conversation with O5 cyclops about how she still loved him despite what he did. A confrontation with Emma Frost about what her husband became. Just...something...to warrant this $4.99 price tag. Honestly I would have been better going to Wendy's getting a 4 for $4 than picking this up, like, if this were my first comic then I wouldn't bother buying another one.

Maybe it's just me. I won't be spending my money on anything else with Tom Taylor as the writer because this comic, in my opinion, was Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite.
