Superman : The Man of Tomorrow

Yup, I've decided to revamp my film lists yet again - however this time I've tried to significantly change the plot to keep them interesting and give me an excuse for rebooting them (Man my lists are becoming as complex as the damn Warner Brothers DC slate at this point). Although...I just couldn't see much wrong with my first Superman origin list so a lot of the elements here are the same but I've changed some things that I felt needed changing

The start of the age of the superhero was fraught with difficulty. Built upon a foundation of intimidation and illegal activities, LexCorp is "pioneering the future" for Metropolis. However, when the Man of Tomorrow arrives in the city, the power struggle shifts as Superman comes into conflict with the seemingly benevolent Lex Luthor and the insane Sgt. Corben...

  • Credits Scene: Led by Abernathy, Luthor's scientists work on a classified project named "B-0" with extracts of Luthor's and Superman's skin cells...
  • Incarcerated: Rudy Jones {Stryker's Island}

  • Sent to Earth as a baby by his parents from his doomed planet Krypton in a small rocket ship, Kal-El was found by the Kents and raised as if he was their own child. They gave him the name of Clark Kent and taught him how to control his superpowers which he began to show at a young age. Dismissing his powers and wanting to make it in the journalism world, Clark travelled to Metropolis hoping to join the Daily Planet. Clark got the job after a few weeks and became a reporter at the Planet. When walking home to his apartment one evening, Clark took a shortcut through an ally where he witnessed a mugging. Despite not wanting to ever use his powers, Clark wouldn't let a mugging just happen. Clark used his super-speed and knocked the mugger unconscious yet making sure that no-one saw him. After realising that that his powers could be used for such good, he decided to use his powers to help those in need. He designed a costume using materials found in his rocket and Lois Lane dubbed him: "Superman". However, not everyone in Metropolis is happy about his arrival

  • The Daily Planet's star reporter, Lois Lane will go to any lengths to get a good story. However, the Daily Planet is on its last legs due to Lex Luthor doing his best to slander them after they attempt to reveal his crimes. Lois is made to show Clark around Metropolis and they eventually form a close friendship. When Superman shows up in Metropolis, Lois becomes obsessed with trying to get an interview with the Man of Tomorrow. Lois has also met Lex Luthor many times, as she tries to expose his lies and corruption to the public

  • The world's smartest man, a billionaire, the CEO of a financial empire, a pioneering scientist & Metropolis' leading man. However, to get him where he is today Lex Luthor's primary tactics were through the use of intimidation, bribery, fraud & murder. The sacrifice of others is but a means to and end for Luthor to keep his place as top-dog. Loved by the world, Luthor revels in the admiration & will not let anyone take it away from him. So, when Superman steals the spotlight, Luthor is determined to destroy the interfering Alien and regain what he perceives as the stolen place of him as Humanity's saviour and rightful leader

  • Sgt. John Corben is a heart-less killer for the US army and the favourite soldier of General Lane. Corben once went on a date with Lois but she quickly rejected his advances despite her father wanting them together. Corben arrives in Metropolis with General Lane & attempts to convince Lois they belong together, despite the fact she's not at all interested. Volunteering for project Metallo in order to "neutralise" Superman, Corben is almost killed when his power-suit is hit by a stray bullet. Eventually saved by Luthor, Corben emerged from the surgery as half-man, half-machine with a heart of Kryptonite. Completely insane, Corben becomes Metallo and attempts to kill Superman, endangering the lives of innocents and his fellow soldiers in the process

  • The editor of the Daily Planet, Perry White is a strict yet loving guy who treats his staff as if they were his family. White proudly introduces Clark into the Daily Planet & is quick to become fond of him. Sometimes harsh on the staff, he does it to unlock their true potential. White is especially committed to helping Lois Lane expose Lex Luthor for his hundreds of offences but has lately tried to dissuade her from this as the Planet is on its Last Legs after attempting to take on Lex. When Superman first shows up, he is one of the first to support him & objects at the taking over of the Daily Planet. White doesn't exactly get on well with General Lane especially after Lois admits Perry was a better father than he ever was

  • General Sam Lane is called into Metropolis to neutralise the threat of Superman and enacts a deal with Luthor for weaponry if he deals with the Alien. Lane does so and has his soldiers placed all around Metropolis. He appears to have no care for his daughter emotionally but is furious after learning about her working with Superman. He is also annoyed at her rejecting Corben, wanting him to marry her

  • A leading scientist at S.T.A.R. Labs, Emil Hamilton is one of the first people to openly support Superman. He appears on many news channels supporting Superman and condemning Lex Luthor. This leads to Luthor kidnapping Hamilton and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs and using them to convince Superman to leave Metropolis in order for Hamilton and his staff to live. Hamilton later becomes a close friend of Superman and helps him whenever needed

  • Kenneth Russel Abernathy is the head scientist at LexCorp who is tasked with studying Kryptonite & its effects on Superman

  • A kind-hearted scientist at LexCorp, Winslow Schott is a quiet man but a scientific genius. Designing Metallo and later saving the life of John Corben by giving him a Kryptonite heart and making him half-machine, Schott was unaware of the true purposes behind designing Metallo. Later realising what he has done when Corben accidentally kills a child, Schott destroys his lab and the other Metallo battle-suits

  • The leader of Intergang in Metropolis and the city's most powerful gangster, Bruno Mannheim is a man of little morals and has connections to Lex Luthor.
