  • Most people who criticize Capitalism have no idea how it works and do so on a device (computer, iphone, etc) that was only made possible because of capitalism. Everything you own, everything you wear and everything you eat is because of capitalism, someone had an idea to make something for everyone else and sell it for a profit. Something that has lifted more people out of poverty than anything else, but their only answer is to replace it with a system (Socialism or Communism) that has never worked because these people have never lived in those countries. But you wouldn't know that if you had to depend on those who edit these pages who are as dumb as bricks because somehow, capitalism is the same thing as fascism and a dystopian world... why??? Don't know and I doubt they could answer that themselves...

    Most of the men in the Confederate Army were poor Southerners who were not fighting to keep slaves, they didn't own any, less than 2% of Americans owned slaves, they could barely afford food and the clothing on their backs.     The only explanation to this would be that they travel through dimensions, the multiverse... but then again, I could come up with endless theories in order to convince anyone. As for highly intelligent alien life, the so-called "Grays", if they exist, they would most likely view us as a curiosity and not beings looking to invade or help us.     There are of course police who actually do their job, but a group like the Masks wouldn't be such a bad idea since the police have unions who will defend them no matter what they've have done, they've become more militarized, arresting people for no crime, and killing innocent people due to terrible Intel, despite the fact that crime was at an all-time low in the US. There are places where crime is high, but that's because those states don't allow people to arm themselves, the drug war keeps going, the police have too much power, they don't punish the criminals or all of the above.

  • They say that villains are much more interesting characters... well I would say that Anti-Heroes are far more interesting since they kill the villains. Anti-Heroes use to be rare, now they're everywhere, everyone's an Anti-Hero... but the term "Anti-Hero" has lost all meaning, too many people think it means those who are just assholes or straight up evil or if they're simply a "tough" character... then there an Anti-Hero... huh, no, that's not how it works.

Writers always need a good Vs evil theme, but what they usually come up with is nothing more than a shallow storyline with one-dimensional characters.

  • I still prefer the original 13 members that started in 1982 from Marvel comics. I never cared for the characters from Hasbro (a toy and board game company) that forced Larry Hama to put in new characters that were only created to sell toys. To this day they remain uninteresting, they and everyone else just became caricatures.

    Hama should really just start all over again, have the G.I. Joe team go back to the original 13, the characters and storylines were much better written during those days since they felt more real.

  • I actually prefer this version of the X-Men than the 616 comic book version. I don't view Chris Claremont, Fabian Nicieza and Jim Lee as great writers in the slightest, their storylines and characterization writing was always a very mix bag. None of them knew who to write females, males or relationships and the fame went to Claremont's head and at times he seemed to have inserted himself in the story. But since the mid 2000s, the X-Men comics are just pure garbage and so was X-Men '92, that comic was just awful, it treated the animated series like a parody, but the show took itself seriously.

    However, this doesn't mean I think that the writing of the animated series with its storylines, characterizations, and relationships was perfect, far from it. But like I said, I'll take that over the comics, they took the best stuff from the comics and left out all the junk... well, most of it.

    They should have continued the series with a new title and animation, but instead we got... Evolution with annoying teenage versions of the characters... and then Wolverine and the X-Men, a show that literally states that Wolverine will be the center of attention and everyone else will be in the background...

    As for the films... oh god... the moment Brian Singer got his hands on them, those films were doomed. He had access to so many amazing popular characters, but he squandered and ignored them all and focused on just Wolverine... most of the actors hated him so much that they threaten to leave if he didn't get his act together... so fuck Singer!

  • I know it's all science fiction, not science fact, but most of the time humanoid machines such as robots, androids and cyborgs act very much like a human with a personality and attitude. But many times, in fiction when they're acting human, there's very little explanation as to why their program is able to do so. They either become sentient and want to kill everyone or their creators are just so unfair, so evil that they won't let them have any freedom.

    HAL 9000 went crazy because... it didn't know how to lie...

    The androids in the 1973 film Westworld were program to act like people from ancient Roman, medieval Europe and the Old West. But some type of infection makes them all go and kill everyone. It was believable with the Gunslinger and the Black Knight since that's what they were program to do, the others however, not so much.

    The Replicants in Blade Runner were given memories... somehow... and that makes them act human or it's so perfectly done that the person has no idea that they're a Replicant.

    Robocop at least has a human brain, so that Murphy only has small parts of his past life, he'll never be able to fully remember his wife and son, "I can feel them, but I can't remember them."

    Data's emotion chip just made him annoying, how he was able to act like a human almost perfectly near the end in Star Trek First Contact was never explained. He's been around humans for many years, but he's always questioned their behavior, it hardly ever made any sense to him.

  • I ended up liking the Geth (Legion's kind) more than the Quarians, but just like with the Dalish in Dragon Age, BioWear made the Quarian into the victim race so that everyone has to feel sorry for them because the Council ignored them and are treated with racist and slavery. But let's not forget that they started a war with the Geth because they became sentient and wanted independence (an overused cliche).

    At least your able to make peace between the Quarians and Geth in ME3. One of the very few good things that came out of that mess of a game.

    Also, I loved the Geth Pulse Rifle. It has a nice look, its accuracy and auto targeting were great, it's powerful and its rapid fire makes it a pretty sweet weapon to get in ME1.

    However, the Pulse Rifle has a noticeable lack of punch against armor in ME2. They say supplementing it with Warp or Armor-Piercing Ammo is a good choice to add armor-penetration while augmenting barrier penetration, making it useful against certain Eclipse mercenaries and Collectors.

    But the weapon takes a nosedive in ME3, along with many other things in that game.

  • The detail puppets they used on the SNES covers makes me wish they did a live action film, like the way they did The Dark Crystal. No CGI, or blue or green screen, but with real backgrounds, puppets and detailed models. But then again, every video game adaptation has been terrible since video games were meant to be played, not watched.

    I miss the original concept that the first and (unreleased) second game had. Due to the tone and look of the SNES version and it's true sequel (Star Fox 2), it actually felt like an adult game. It's a bit darker, more abstract and more stylized than Star Fox 64. Like with prequels and sequels, movie expansion comics become unnecessary and add nothing. However, there are some that are able to do more with the storyline and characters such as Heir to the Empire, Dark Empire I-II, Ghostbusters: Legion.

    Sometimes the film sequel is so bad that the movie expansion comic has to ignore it, making it more of an alternate reality. The comic book that picked up where Aliens left off was published before the horrible Alien 3 film came out.

  • Prequels usually end up being boring predicable filler that end up creating continuity errors on what was already shown and stated. They become stories that didn't need to be told.

    A prequel story can work, the Knights of the Old Republic video game worked very well, but that took place 4,000 years before the timeline of the films, during a timeline we knew nothing about, and it helped that it was an RPG. It also had a compelling storyline with interesting original characters to interact with, we were not playing or meeting an ancestor of Skywalker or Solo.

  • Both the Jedi and Sith code are very flawed, you have to be a little child that doesn't know any better or a hardcore religious Star Wars nutcase to really buy into any of that crap. The light and dark side of the Force is one thing that I really don't like about Star Wars, it's literally a black and white concept, characters are written to be shallow and become an evil person very easily in order for the story to have a villain.

    The KOTOR games, while they are very good, they hardly left any room to be a complex character. Some books and comics have it that even something as simple as getting angry (something you can't avoid from feeling and expressing, it's a normal human emotion), or even knowledge, like trying to learn the history or the secrets of the dark side, somehow that's enough to corrupt a person and become evil... or that both the light and dark side is seen as something that possesses you, forcing you to do this and that, it makes it seem as if people who follow the dark side are not really guilty of any crime because it was the dark side of the Force making them to do it...

    Bastila Shan falling because she was tortured is just bad writing, they wanted another shock "oh my god" moment, not the first time Drew Karpyshyn wrote a KOTOR character badly. Sadly, this type of lazy writing has happened to a lot of SW characters.

    •Exar Kun fell because he read Sith scrolls, looked into a Sith Holocron and then got really angry.

    •Revan and Malak fell because of the Star forge and The Sith Emperor.

    •Anakin was made to look like he was blackmailed into it.

    •When Luke reached Byss, a Deep Core world so enveloped in the power of the dark side, that he apparently couldn't resist it and beaten by the re-born Emperor caused him to fall completely.

    •Jacen Solo fell because he was told to, that becoming a Sith will bring peace to the galaxy.

    •Even the opposite is true, Kam Solusar snapped out of it, as if he was under a spell. While Galen Marek was brought up by Vader since childhood in the dark side, but it didn't take long for him to become good. Kylo Ren fell just for the sake of it and after years of killing people, came back to the light within a few seconds.

    Falling to the dark side should be a long and troubled process due to the events that happens in that person's life, like what happen to Revan and Malak during the war, those events changed them, or at least it was implied that's what happen before Karpyshyn ruined it. It should not be like turning an On and Off switch, the Sith are not the Borg.

    For all their wisdom, Obi-Wan, Yoda and the Old Order were not right about everything, there's a reason why Luke had to change things in his new Jedi Order. Both Jolee Bindo and Kyle Katarn had a far better understanding and have probable given some of the best speeches about The Force.

  • When it comes to anime films and manga comics... there's only a few that I like. There are so many that have some of thy dumbest characters in literature, many who are so overpowered that they make DC and Marvel look weak, and storylines that only exist just to be disgusting. I'm not asking for Mary Sues and Gary Stu's, I like characters who are flawed, they don't win every fight and argument, but anime and manga take it way too far.

    Favorite Anime Films

    Vampire Hunter D (1983): The novels are better than the manga versions and I enjoy the first anime film a lot more. The PS1 video game actually had a better story than the second film, but it's a frustrating game to play with the famou "tank controls".

    Crying Freeman (1986 – 1988): The anime films are pretty accurate to the manga series. Far more than the crappy live action film from 1995... they couldn't even get a Chinese actor or a Japanese actress, and sadly this type of lazy casting hasn't change.

    Golgo 13: The Professional (1983): Pretty much the Japanese version of James Bond (from the novels). The live action film, Golgo 13 (1973), with actor Ken Takakura wasn't too bad since Golgo 13 was based off his appearance. It was better than the one with Shin'ichi Chiba who looks nothing like Golgo and can't act.

    Blood: The Last Vampire (2000): The animation style and the lead character is great. There's an anime video game using animation for the cut scenes, looking at videos on Youtube, I didn't care for the story. The live action film was horrible, they couldn't even get an actual Japanese actress for the main role. The series is related in "name" only, and it's as dumb as it gets, something for shallow per-teen and teenage fangirls.

    Ninja Scroll (1995): Mujuro Utsutsu had the most impressive fight in the film. The anime series had terrible animation and voice acting, there was a 12-issue Ninja Scroll comic book but that was terrible as well. Hopefully it gets a proper sequel in the near future.

    Goku Midnight Eye - II (1989): One of very few cocky characters that I like, but it's not over the top 24/7. The anime dubbing from the UK is much better than the US version, I never cared for Steve Blum... his voice is just irritating! Sadly, it's never been released on DVD.

    3×3 Eyes (1991 - 1992): Only chapters 1 to 4, the story, the characters and the animation style were better than later chapters. While Yakumo does fall into that annoying clueless category of typical anime male characters at first, he does toughen up a bit and becomes a bit smarter.

    Lensman (1984): Another that's never been released on DVD. It's based on books that are pretty overrated and while a lot would say that Lensman has a very similar story to Star Wars and the Green Lantern corps, but a lot of people seem to forget that those are not original concepts either.

    Zillion: Burning Knight (1988): It got released on DVD and Blu-ray in October 2018. I never played the video game and I never cared for the series which only lasted one season. The only reason why I like the last chapter is because the character Rick is a badass! But it just about copies the plot and characters from the 1984 film Streets of Fire.

  • It's important to know about a character's past, where they come from and what makes them who they are. But the origin story of a character can ends up being pretty disappointing because there was too much hype around it, or it takes the mystery away from a character.

  • Half the time Retconning just ends up ruining the characters and most of the time that needs to be Retcon itself in order to undo the damage.

  • It's just a gimmick to fool people into buying multiple copies of the same issue, even a terrible one... but it's got a new hat!

  • I only have a handful of DC comics and I got those in the early 90s, I stopped collecting Marvel comics in 2008 and that was mostly the Punisher when Garth Ennis was writing him, when he left, I left. I gave them another chance when the Punisher joined Thunderbolts... and we can all see how that turned out. I got "The Platoon" and "Punisher Soviet", but that's it, I mostly only get independent comics, graphic novels and books.

The film Carlito's Way. those who are chasing him, was closer to portraying the NY Mafia types... a bunch of vicious thugs with very little charm or funny aspects in them.

  • When it comes to their history... for one thing the Republicans freed the slaves, not the Democrats and the Democrats ran the Confederacy. The southern Democrats insulted the Jim Crow laws and voted against just about every single piece of civil rights legislation from 1866 to 1966, that's 100 years of voting against equality, which includes opposing against the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments which were the abolition of slavery, the granting of citizenship to slaves and granting slaves the right to vote. They also created the KKK... and this is the party that most blacks vote for???? Then again, they most likely rigged those elections.

    The Republican Party is not perfect by any means, the party is completely gutless, but when it comes to the Democratic Party on corruption, censorship, banning guns, rigging elections and other such things...
