His background is a mystery to him. He woke up not long ago in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with no memory of his life or anything about himself. The persona he most commonly adopts is Markus Ramsey, based on a vague memory; it was the first and most prominent thing he remembered after awakening.
After an encounter with Black Cell's Lioness, he was told he also used to work for the organization and that is name was actually in fact Mickey O'Riordan, but before he could get any real answers, fight broke out and and the building was destroyed when the woman fled, leaving "Mick" alone to sort through his new information. Somewhere along the line, he stumbled upon Rútur, tubby mechanic and new pal, who gave him a job for tech and pay.
Traits/Skills/Abilities
It’s a commonly perpetuated belief that human beings only use around ten percent of their brains in daily function. Alluring, it raises thoughts of the possibility of unlocking some or all of the rest of that potential and being able to perform incredible acts of mental and physical adroitness. However, the truth is that humans use virtually every part of the brain, and that most of the brain is continually active over a 24-hour period. The difference between Mickey and the rest of the people of Earth is that his brain functions at a much higher level than others, and he has an uncanny control over its functions via the possible achievement of a perfect mind to body connection.
The human brain performs a series of functions; autonomic, relating to involuntary bodily functions, somatic, which controls voluntary bodily functions, and cognitive, concerning the use of the mind to solve problems. But while these functions can be done simultaneously, the systems themselves are segregated, and one conscious function could not be performed efficiently at the same time as another. In Mickey, the systems have perfect synchronicity, working at peak efficiency at all times, and all are under completely voluntary control. Because of this, he could run a mile, solve a calculus equation, and regulate his heartbeat and body temperature, perfectly, all at the same time, a simple example of one thing he’s capable of.
Some physical abilities include enhanced strength, speed, agility, reflexes, dexterity, durability, and powerful healing abilities. However, unpracticed, many of his abilities require concentration to control properly.
Sensory Control
Each sensory system works a bit differently, but works on a basic principle: the sensory organ takes in data, transmits a version of the data through the neural network of the brain, and then creates a sensory image for the brain to analyze. Mick's brain and sensory organs work much more efficiently than normal. This means he can parse out the finest details of sensory stimuli and separate them from all others. Within one specific sense, smell, for example, he can smell a pie, or he can smell every ingredient separately and discern specific details about each of those from what he knows. Because of the degree of control he exerts over his brain, he can enhance each of his senses to superhuman degrees, or dull or completely shut off one or all of them; alternatively, his perception can alter to the point of seeing, hearing, or otherwise perceiving in ways humans aren’t typically capable of (different wavelengths, pitches, etc.). With intense focus on a single sense, particularly vision, he can hone in on and perceive specific details about object, a weaker or stronger point, degradations or fortifications wherever they exist. Problems may arise when concentrated on a single sense; he may become so singularly focussed that he fails to notice stimuli that should register with a sense that is not as focussed or shut off, so even something like an alarm blaring would escape him if he singularly focused on sight or smell. He also becomes temporarily more vulnerable to sensory overloads related to one or all of the senses being enhanced. As an added effect, he has the condition known as synesthesia, and his brain may be known to draw more connections between senses. This means seeing smells, smelling colors, and other such things.
Vitality/Accelerated Healing
A result of his highly efficient body, Mickey can heal from grievous wounds, broken bones, and many different kinds of diseases. Alone, he possesses a formidable accelerated healing ability, and he can channel more conscious effort into healing faster if he needs. To maintain the tissue in his body for repairing, he must consume copious amounts of proteins and other nutrients to hold up his skin and body cells, and calcium and other minerals for his bones. As a result, however, every time he heals, if under proper circumstances and with proper nutrition, they become tougher and more durable. Or at will he could restrict the flow of nutrients to certain areas, allowing skin or bone to become less durable. With his healing, even serious mortal wounds, such as bullet wounds to the brain, may only result in him falling unconscious until the injury is properly tended upon, but his body will never rot, age or truly grow old. He could stay young, and in theory, live, forever.
Adoptive Muscle Memory
Neurons can store memory as an electrochemical charge. A neuron can be keyed to declarative memory, which is episodic (personal experiences) and semantic (factual information), or procedural memory, which includes physical, subconscious learned skills. Procedural memory is the basis of most practiced physical activity, including martial arts and sports. Mickey can copy any movement perfectly after seeing it performed, so long as it is within the realm of physical possibility for him. This is because his brain is more adaptable than normal and he can, at will, make new connections with his procedural memory that allow him to store these movements for later use. However, he may also inadvertently (or purposefully) overwrite declarative memories, causing him to forget specific facts or personal experiences. He cannot replicate extraneous abilities such as heat vision; only styles and moves and the like.
Hyper Kinesthesis
Stemming from increased control over the somatic and sensory nervous systems, in Mickey, both systems are much more efficient than ordinary. This is marked by an increase in effectiveness of these networks, resulting in an increase in precognition, imagining precise possible outcomes, and the ability to actualize perceived outcomes. Even without directly seeing, he can judge very specific outcomes from physical actions. This makes for better outcomes when he does need to act, even displaying great control on the spot. For example, when planning to jump over a fence or other obstacle, he can easily judge the angle and force of the jump necessary to vault over it, as well as the probable energy required to land and roll safely. Because of this, even without his adoptive muscle memory, he can aptly handle himself in combat and action of all types, possessing flawless aim, perfect balance, and greatly enhanced motor skills. Working backwards from this ability, he can trace an event and find out what happened by the condition of a scene and evidence left behind, working backwards by following positions and locations of objects, small details, trajectories, and geometric angles. The problem with this skill (and general performance with abilities) arises with emotional issues. While typically, he performs much better than even some superhumans at the top of their game, when stressed or hampered by emotional hindrances, he may perform even worse than average humans. Also, because of his normally heightened abilities, he may take on more responsibilities himself, or take responsibility for things that weren’t entirely his fault, at times leading to such a stressed state.
Electrogenic
Everything is made up of atoms, and atoms are made up of protons, neutrons and electrons. Protons have a positive charge, neutrons have a neutral charge, and electrons have a negative charge. When these charges are out of balance, an atom becomes either positively or negatively charged. The switch between one type of charge and the other allows electrons to flow from one atom to another. This flow of electrons, or a negative charge, is what is called electricity. Since the human body is a huge mass of atoms, it can generate electricity. The nervous system controls an electrochemical current, while the body processes food to generate electricity, using liquids as a conductive medium. Mick is able to tap into this system, using it to influence other systems, and self-generate freeform electricity. On a physiological level, this means his metabolism is tuned to the production of electricity, and his body is toughened against electrical shock. On a neural level, his sensory organs are keyed to electricity, gauging its intensity and direction; other unknown neural functions allow them to change intensity and direction. Because of this he can handle electrical shocks to the body with little to no damage to himself, and enable his own body to act as a conductor, delivering a shock to anyone and anything touching him. As an added side effect, he can increase his perceptions to superhuman degrees, especially after receiving heightened electrical charges, giving him nigh instant reflexes in some cases, adding to his already impressive ability. In conjunction with this, he is capable of uncanny high-speed movements as well, though such movements over periods of time may strain the body, and require more copious amounts of energy intake to deal with rapid shifts in his metabolism when active.
Hormone/Neurotransmitter control
A hormone is a chemical released by a cell, a gland, or an organ in one part of the body that affects cells in other parts of the organism. Neurotransmitters are likewise chemicals, released into the synaptic cleft, usually following arrival of action potentials at the synapse. They can influence things like emotions and physiological responses. Due to his special condition, Mickey can control the release of chemicals within his body, prompting specifically desired responses or effects. For example, by regulating such chemicals as serotonin, he might be able to consciously alter things like mood to prevent the onset of depression after what would normally be a traumatic event. Adrenal control would likewise aid in regulating body functions for reacting in violent or dangerous situations. This may produce a physically enhancing effect, allowing him to breach the limits of his natural physical traits (strength, speed, etc.). However, when activating heightened adrenal responses, sustained use may lead to cardiac issues or short bursts of symptoms related to certain conditions like intermittent explosive disorder, leading to problems in judgment and decision-making.
Acid Manipulation
Acid in the human body is found mostly within the gastrointestinal system. The human stomach uses hydrochloric acid to break down food. The pH of this acid varies, usually from 1-5, fluctuating with certain foods taken in. Mickey is able to exert a more active control over his digestive system and the acid within his body. He can affect pH, strength, and corrosiveness of it, so they may be as strong as any of the carborane superacids (but not corrosive) or as caustic as hydrofluoric acid (highly corrosive, but not considered strong because it does not completely dissociate in water). This is not for simple food digestion. At will, Mick can induce vomiting that contains no food, but a highly dangerous acid. The problem with this is that his body is not immune to the effects of the acid and he may suffer internal burns as a result (only survivable because of the advanced healing factor). It’s also bad for breath. Sometimes he can make it so it comes out in his sweat, but that's also painful.
Mimic
There are three elements to human mimicry; behavior, appearance, and sound. Behavior includes body language, emotional reactions, and societal cues like language choice. Intuitive observation can usually give enough data to base an imitation off of, and Mick has an exceptionally efficient means of sensory processing. Using his adoptive muscle memory, Mickey can mimic specific aspects of behavior based on video footage or spending time with a person (though to cover all of a person’s habits and codes would take time and much intricate observation, for cases requiring infiltration of more closely acquainted peoples). He can also, through direct specific control over his vocal cords, mimic a person’s voice with pinpoint accuracy after hearing and with practice, or imitate sounds of animals in nature, or sound effects like gunshots or sirens (though these kinds may be somewhat off, they’re accurate enough to pull off a reasonable hoax). Physical appearance may be shifted, including altering facial, bodily and bone structure, hair color, and other features, but this intricate process takes a bit more time to be completed perfectly, and the initial transformations are typically painful to go through.
Navigation
The human sense of direction is combination of many neural functions, including: magnetic sensitivity, strategies for human movement, locational memory, schematic representation, sensory data, and frame of reference. Every human body has a magnetic field, keyed to other fields around them, including other people, electrical devices, and the earth's magnetic field (like how animals like messenger pigeons are able to navigate enormous distances). However, in most humans, the brain is not physically attuned to these signals enough to make a huge difference, and without actual knowledge of an area, navigation can be highly unreliable. Mick is able to get a sense of magnetic north all by himself, and, using this, can determine local positioning more easily, as well as position relative to other people and objects, by honing in on the magnetic field given off. Also discerning visual or environmental clues, like trees or certain landmarks, becomes easier, especially useful in tracking people based on possible paths taken.
Bullet-curving
Sounds completely improbable. For most people, it is. Mick's abilities, however, makes this simple. His magnetic sensitivity and electrogenesis give him a control over his own electromagnetic field, and those of other things as well. He has easier control over himself, and over things that are magnetic or also conductive to electricity. To achieve this, he first senses the field around people and objects. Then, he can alter the field around bullets, attuning them, in a way, to other people and objects. This allows him to create "seeker bullets," "trained" to hit specific targets, even around corners. When this happens, depending on how strong a connection he creates between the objects, they can speed up to varying degrees, and may become electrically charged to add an extra "kick." Alternatively, they can be set to avoid certain people and objects, sometimes acting as a barrier. Possibly, he could extend this ability to other things, but typically, it is used for his gun. (I was also too lazy to think of the other name(s) for it.)
Equipment
Though without much in the way of possessions, at any given moment, Mickey caries a number of knives, including a Buck Model 110 Folding Hunter, a Balisong, and a ballistic knife. He awoke with these on his persons (the balisong lodged between his ribs), and ever since he simply keeps them. A Smith & Wesson Model 500 revolver. Found empty lying on his body when he awoke in his earliest memory. From time to time, he can work enough at different jobs to pay for extra ammunition.
After meeting and signing to work with Rútur, he had made a "shock staff," collapsible and able to ignite the entire weapon with electricity. Due to his own body's structure and function, Mick is able to resist damage from the weapon. Self-modified to allow him to split it in multiple pieces to surprise and beat enemies with. He was also given a customised SMG with seven different kinds of firing modes, from normal to high explosive, armor piercing, but he's not yet tinkered with it yet.
A miniature excavator he made himself out of simple kitchen tools and appliance(s). No uses yet. It's tiny, because it's made of kitchen stuff, leading him on a search for a shrinking/enlarging ray.
