My Mission

I'm a longtime comic collector. I would walk up 30th street for a good mile in order to simply see if a new issue was in the local FastFare, oftimes to no avail. I would brave the occasional Thursday drizzle to bike across campus to the comicbook store when in college. I would drive to the other side of town in Seattle and illegally park in order to get my fix. I would walk horizonatally across Manhattan, or take the train into that island from Queens, in order to go to my local store. The only organization that I have placed higher on the scale of importance when relocating is a Church! I began with collection of G.I.Joe during their Marvel run beginning in 1982. I collected that until, bascially, the run was over about ten years later. In 1988, an issue of Captain America caught my eye; the cover read, "Cap Fired!" I had no idea that upon picking that issue up, I was entering a relationship with my favorite comic character of all time that would see me through many stages of life. I have two full runs of Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.; volume 2 and volume 3 (Secret Warriors). Chose "Quartermain" as my screenname because I always thought that character had a ton of potential, and have even authored fanfic about him temporarily taking over the role of Captain America after Steve Rogers had been shot, for a particular Third World mission. Yes, he needed some enhancements. Yes, he got them, temporarily......?? I remember when Battlestar Galactica was a Marvel comic. I remember when multi-title story arcs began. I remember when a good Marvel movie was a pipe dream. I remember finding a bootleg copy of Punisher with Dolph Lundgren, at a comic store in St. Louis on a visit. (I don't support bootleg movies.) I consider myself well-versed in Captain America mythos, Nick Fury mythos, and G.I.Joe mythos, across publishers. Right now, on my pull list: Captain America, Captain America AND, G.I.Joe:COBRA, The Ultimates, Ultimate Spider Man, and specials like AvX, AvX vs., etc. My favorite issues of all time are Captain America #350, and Steve Rogers: Super Soldier #1. I Make Mine Marvel all day and night. I could care less about D.C. comics. Favorite Characters, in order: Captain America, Nick Fury (616), Winter Soldier, USAgent, Cobra Commander, Flint, Clay Quartermain, Red Hulk/General Ross, Patriot, Battlestar (Jack Daniels' former sidekick), Falcon, Ms. Marvel, Agent 13, Isaiah Bradley, Miles Morales (Ultimate Spider Man), S.H.I.E.L.D., Anti-Cap.
