Is this an ongoing? I am thinking about finally taking the plunge on this, but would rather wait for the "collected" version if it is ending soon. Thanks.

America bought the lousania purchase from the French not the native Americans.

And joked how Americans don't know their history :D

But seriously guys, I just want to say thanks for the podcast. Especially to Mat for honestly trying to avoid saying the phrase "I did not get a chance to read that" or anything close to it. Even going as far as trying to discuss the titles ahead of time, pre-podcast, to avoid the "I didn't read it" expression. Job well done, Mat. Seriously.

With Mat's (and Tony's) effort, the comics section was much more ... I don't know ... "focused" is not the word but maybe "clean"? Nah, I can't get the word to come to mind, but lets just say it was very enjoyable this week. Two guys (miss ya Corey) talking about comics. What they liked or in some cases, didn't like at all, about the titles that hit the stands this week. Job well done guys, the effort shows. Nice!!

However, I think Mat was mistaken on reading the comic The Paybacks. A comic about super-heroes having their stuff repoed would not be easy to forget. (Love that cover!!! Hahahaha) Anyway, I think Mat was thinking of something else ;)

See (hear) ya next week !!!

@g_man: Why is that weird? We are not asking for the news to be placed at a different location along the podcast's timeline, only that we (at least those that have commented and said such) miss when you talked more about the weekly comics. We are lamenting the apparent decrease in the weekly comic talk. If you increase the time spent on discussing comics, it matters not where you place the news. News is perfect in the beginning. We are just wishing you would talk more about the comics, not that you do anything with the news :-)

Glad my post was taken the way it was meant and not in the "internet is just for complainers" way. And to all the guys/gals that agreed, thanks for not making me feel alone. Or that I was going crazy. (insert Joker laugh) ;)

And Mat, I would get even with your dog. Pop a squat and let him clean up after you.

"Oh, no he didn't!"

:D

EDIT - And as I am an idiot ... Also thanks to Mat and the Comic Vine team for taking the time and listening to us .... ummmm ... listeners!!!

Seems like each week the "weekly comic talk" portion of this podcast gets smaller and smaller. I am not complaining, as much as saddened by this. When I first started listening, you guys were really into the weekly comics talk. Then when James Robinson started stopping by, there was even more comic discussion (not just about his comics). Currently however, it just appears that the weekly comics are getting pushed to the back seat. I miss the hour long long discussions about what comics hit the stands this week. Now if we are lucky, we get 45 minutes (and yes I get that is only 15 minutes short ... hahaha). Plus, and I know you guys are "Hella" busy and I know it is hard (next to impossible) to read all the comics that come out in a given week (especially in the allotted time frame you guys are dealing with), but we are hearing a lot more of the "No, I didn't get a chance to read that" and that kinda sucks.

And please, more Valiant talk. :-D

Wow, this really did turn into me complaining, didn't it? Ha Sorry about that guys. I mean, maybe it is just a personal thing ... maybe I just "wish" there was more weekly comic talk and there is little to no change in the time spent or the amount of comics read ... heck, I may be totally wrong and I am finding issues when there are none to be found.

If I'm that unhappy (which I am not) I should start my own podcast and run it the way I want, right? ;-)

But hey, Deep down I know you guys are doing your best, and I do truly appreciate it. And even if I feel somewhat down on what I perceive to be missing, I will still be here each week, each Saturday morning, as I know you do have a good thing going (except for the wrestling talk ;-) Haha) and I enjoy and appreciate what you do. Even if it doesn't seem like it with this particular post. Hope this is taken the way it was meant, with concern ... more than an act of admonishment.

Keep on Keppin' on,
Perry

Hello guys!

Been listening for a while, but this is the first time I actually write in.

Here is my question: Do you believe the publisher name influences comic reviews?

Midnighter and Omega Men are fantastic comics but don't seem to have many people gushing about how good they are probably because they have the DC logo on them, yet I feel like if they had the Image label on them, some reviewers and websites would be hailing them as some of the best comics of the year.

Bersam,

I just wanted to jump in and say I totally agree about Omega Men. While Midnighter certainly deserves more recognition and I am not sure why it is not getting it, Omega Men is one of the best comics being published today. Not only is the writing very strong and the art pleasing, it also has a great structure, pacing and flow. Plus, one of the main reasons it is at the top of the stack when it comes out, is each and every issue I am left with a feeling that I am not sure I just read a comic about heroes or terrorists. Now while that may seem like a negative, it is not. At all.

Should I be pulling for these guys? Am I rooting for the bad guys?

A very strong book that needs to be discussed more.

(and sadly, needs to be in more peoples pull as I am not liking the amount of current sales. This great title may not last long)

Keep on keepin' on,

Perry

EDIT - I am sorry guys. I shouldn't post replies here when you are going through looking for questions to answer. Feel free to delete.

THANK GOD (Or in this case ComicVine) for finally putting a time stamp on the podcast. I am sure it took a little time (thanks ... Matt (?) ... probably ... as I have yet to listen to see if it is mentioned who did it) but man it will make it so much easier for you guys to just roll with the show program the way you want, instead of trying to move spoilers all over the place (If you ever break the stamp down to each comic that is).

Off to listen now!!!! Peace out!

When it comes to spoilers, why do you not just use time codes? I know of at least 3 other podcasts that use them as a spoiler barrier and it seems to work just fine. You already have a time showing on the podcasts "tape player" (which I still love by the way) so just edit in the time keys/codes and then all the readers that want to avoid any chance of spoilers on any given title or issue(s) can just look at the time code and jump from one point to the other

It could just be listed in the first post-

Intro/Welcome = 0 - 4:25

Comic News = 4:26 - 1:38:20

Comic Talk = 1:38:21---

Secret Wars #4 = 1:38:23 - 1:45:46

Darth Vader #7 = 1:45:47 -1:46:00

Outcast #11 = 1:46:01 - 1:48:58

Etc ...

Heck, you could even eliminate the "seconds" and just do the minutes. I know it would be a little time consuming, but sure would be a way to make it clear when you are talking about a particular issue. Plus then you could move the comics talk back to the middle. Just scared you guys are gonna start "running out of time" and skip all kinds of comics.

And speaking of comics ... he says before he has heard the entire episode ...Start talking about Valiant again!!

Keep up the good work. Peace guys!!

And Tony, yes, the 19 "point" issues are all the ones written by Gerry Conway. Marvel did not want to add them to regular Spidey numbering nor did they want to do a "mini-series" as it sells better when Marvel uses the point system instead of "part 1 of 5" (all my speculation)... so they did it this way.
