DDK Presents: The Lavish Lyrical Legend Pt. 1

I was supposed to do this about a year ago actually, but I forgot/got lazy and decided not to do it. That being said, I've been on a ridiculous rap trip as of late---so I decided to make it now.

Now, for those of you who don't get with this is exactly allow me to explain: simply put, rap is a really complicated thing. People may think it's just a bushel of idiots playing Shakespeare and throwing a bunch of words together, but really that isn't close to being the case. There is a lot of different components, techniques, and the literary device that goes into writing even decent rhymes. That being said, the crux of this blog isn't to highlight how difficult MC'ing really is - it's mainly we be served a directory for a string of Hip-Hop reviews I plan to do in the future, whenever I'm up to it. In those reviews, I will be analyzing and such and I realize some of the people who felt sorry enough to read my ramblings, won't fully understand every type of rhyme/literary device I use to analyze the aforementioned rap.

That's where this blog comes in. In this blog, I will go over, the different types of rhymes, and literary techniques explaining their meaning and giving several examples so the point emphatically hits home. So without further ado, let us begin, shall we?

External Rhymes

The most common practice in rap in general. Everyone knows it, and has done it at least once in their lifetime. It rhymes that occur at the end of the rhyming line.

Excerpt is taken from Eric. B and Rakim's Ain't No Joke:

"I ain't no joke, I used to let the mic smoke

Now I slam it when I'm done and make sure it's broke"

It's relatively self-explanatory; the rhyme occurred at the end of the first and second metre in the couplet.

Internal Rhymes

Internal rhymes are rhymes that occur within a single line of a rap

Excerpt from Big L's Lifestyle of The Poor and Dangerous:

"The Big L was cold crazy

A top-notch crook snatchin pocket books from old ladies"

As you can see in the second line in the above couplet, the rhymes crook and books occur in the middle of that single line, ergo, the name internal rhyme.

An internal rhyme can also happen, between internal syllables in multiple lines:

Excerpt taken from Elzhi's Blue Widow:

"I'm honestly the best; anyone in your dynasty

Can test and get chewed like how piranhas eat the flesh"

As you can see, the best and test rhymes, in particular, came in-between multiple lines, making it qualify as noice internal rhyme

Perfect Rhymes

These are the most common form of rhymes used. It occurs when the stressed vowel sound of a word and subsequent sounds of the word are tantamount which each other

Excerpt taken from The Notorious B.I.G.Juicy:

Born sinner, the opposite of a winner

Remember when I used to eat sardines for dinner

Half Rhyme

Half-rhymes (or sometimes called imperfect rhymes, or slant rhymes) are defined by rhyming two words that have somewhat identical sounds but don't necessarily match up perfectly.

Excerpt taken from my personal book of rhymes:

"Rhetoric slicker than Satan, that wily old snake, that great

I guess that means I'll join 'em in that pit of the fire Lake"

Lake and Great share the same exact vowel sound, but the ending is strikingly different with one making the T sound and the other a K sound, respectively. So they almost rhyme, but don't do so in the textbook since like it's counterpart above----the perfect rhyme does.

Excerpt taken from Nas New York State of Mind

"And be prosperous, though we live dangerous

Cops could just arrest me, blaming us, we're held like hostages"

The words hostages and dangerous are similar sounding, but they don't rhyme, perfectly with each other

Assonance

Assonance is the repeated repetition of a vowel sound in close proximity to one another

Excerpt from Kendrick Lamar's good kid:

"Trapped inside your desire to fire bullets that stray

Track attire just tell you I'm tired and ran away"

Notice the repeated usage of the long 'I' sound in the lines above? That is exactly what assonance is.

And from the same track King Kendrick raps:

I should ask a choir "What do you require

To sing a song that acquires me to have faith?"

Same routine. The bolded vowels share the same sound, making them fit the assonance bill greatly.

Alliteration

Alliteration is one of my personal favorite literary device(you could prolly just tell by the name of this blog. :P). They just make everything sound so kewl and adds sonic beauty to a line. Alliteration is defined by the repetition of the same sound, or a letter at the beginning of a word, followed close by one another.

Excerpt taken from 2Pac's If I should Die 2night:

They say p**sy and paper is poetry, power and pistols

Plotting on murderin mother__ 'fore they get you

Picturing pitiful punk n__ copping pleas

As you can see, the repeated "P' sounds Mr Shakur employs in the above lines, adds a distinctive and straight up aesthetic phonetic sound through out the verse. It is honestly one of the greatest usages of the device I've ever witnessed in rap.

Consonance

Consonance occurs during the repetition of a consonant in rapid near-concurrent succession

Excerpt Excerpt from Kendrcik Lamar's good kid:

As the record spin I should pray

For the record, I recognize that I'm easily prey

In the above couplet, the the consonant re is repeated 3 times in close proximity with each other.

Excerpt taken from Lil Wayne's Glory (sorry for the terribad quality of the vid, but it's the only one I could find on YoutTbe. xD)

"I'm not a student, I'm not assumin' I'm not a human

You are not immune to this kind of music, you got 'em, Tunechi"

Weezy also utilizes the consonance cleverly in the above line with the repeated "mm" sound in rapid concession.

And yeah--that's my third time using K.Dot as an example here. The dudes a lyrical genius and there is really no other way of putting it.

Monosyllable

Monosyllable rhymes are probably the most simple type of rhymes and was used the most extensively during the early days of rap. Of course, they are very much still used often today, and is still the most common form of rhyming type, but far from exclusively.

Excerpt taken from Drake's---Show Me A Good Time

"What we doing right now, this our dream

Wu-Tang Clan, __ want that cream"

With the single syllable bold obviously matching with the bold.

Multisyllable rhyme

A multisyllable rhyme(or Compound/Pollyable rhyme) is a rhyme type that rhymes more than one syllable in a single sequence. These type of rhymes add a significant amount of complexity and dexterity to rapping, and makes it all the moor fun to catch as a listener.

Excerpt taken from my personal book of rhymes

"When the lyr-ic-ism revved high-ly, and the cyn-ic-ism ebbed light-ly"

1-Lyr/Cyn

2-Ic/Ic

3-Ism/Ism

4- Revved/Ebbed

5-High/Light

6-Ly/Ly

As you can see above, exactly 6 syllables are strung together concurrently in the rhyme shceme which is the text-book definition of multisyllable rhymes.

Or in another example:

Excerpt taken from Eminem's Infinite:

"My rhym-ing skills got you clim-bing hills "

1-Rhym/Climb

2- Ing/Ing

3- Skills/Hills

Again, Shady successfully strong together 3 syllables in his rhyme skills which makes this multisyllable rhyming at it's finest.

Whelp guys, that 's all I have for today. I hope the few that bothered reading of us this jazz enjoyed it as much as I like writing it. :)

Da Divine King's Big L Tribute.

"Ayo five slash three o, slash seven fo, a little bro was born with the mind of a psycho."

Born as Lamont Coleman in Harlem New York on May 30, 1974, Big L was an underground rapper and prominent member of D.I.T.C. Even though his life, and Hip-Hop career was unfortunately cut short by an unknown assailant - the impact Big L left in his wake is still felt in the Rap/Hip-Hop community today. Known as one of the most lyrical and talented MC's to ever pick up a mic, Big L is certainly worthy of having this blog made about him. Now, with that said - lets get started shall we?

No Caption Provided

Musical Style

Big L, was at essence a hardcore rapper, and occasionally, a horrorcore one. His music included a lot of graphic themes and content—which he later—attributed to his love of horror movies and growing up in the hood where he seen a lot of scary sh!t in his time, and wanted to channel that into his music.

For example, in perhaps his most famous single, Devil Son, Big L spins a tale of him being the spawn of, the Devil obviously.

The above track is just a lyrical barrage, filled with extremely graphic content and dark humor we come to expect from 'L.

That being said, all of his songs didn't have the dark theme Devil Son exhibited, not even in the slightest. He has also also made several socially conscience tracks, and songs telling story in the first person perspective. Some deals with the corruption of the NYPD and their effect of young black men in Harem—others deal with the difficulty of growing up in the ghetto and poverty and how living a life of crime "will catch up to you in the long run".

My personal favorite of this grain though, is How Will I Make it:

In this chilling track, Big L tells the narrative of a young man who more or less, never had a chance in life from the start. His dad bailed on him early on in his life; his mother was addicted to drugs; and overall, he had to do a lot of sh!tty things just to get by. In other words, the life of a number of people living in poverty strict areas all around America.

Lyrical Deftness

Big L is known as one of the most skilled lyricist to ever live....and there is good reason for it. Essentially, the first thing one will state when attempting to explain Big L's typical rhyme schemes, is his usage of multisyllable rhyme (rhymes that contain more than one rhyming syllable).

For instance, lets look as one of Big L best songs - Size 'Em Up:

In verse 2, Big L raps:

"Mics, I steadily smoke, rhyme cleverly wrote, as long as I can rock a crown I'mma never be broke."

1-Stead/Clev/nev

2-Dily/Verly/Ver

3-Smoke/Wrote/Broke

As you can see above, Big L strings along 3 syllable concurrently in his rhyme scheme. The Bold rhyme with the bold, the underline rhyme with the underline and the Italic rhymes with the Italic. Honestly, I can find example all over this song, this album (The Big Picture), and his discography in general. L was a legit king of rhyming multiple syllable together.

Another example of Big L's multisylabble rhyme schemes can be found in another favorite of mine; Danger Zone:

"Every Sunday, a nun lay from my gun spray, f_ck Carlito we doing sh!t the Devil Son's way."

1- Sun/Nun/Gun/Son

2-Day/Lay/Spray/Way

So again, another excellent display of lyrical adroitness by Big L. Besides his skill at the compound-syllable rhyme, Coleman was also known as the Punchline King. Seriously, he lines were super witty and a lot of times - both offensive and comical.

My top 5 favorite Big L Punchlines in no order:

1) "Breakin in cribs with a crowbar

I wasn’t ‘poor’, I was po', I couldn’t afford the ‘o-r’ "

--Lifestyles ov da Poor and Dangerous

2) Turn your tux red, I’m far from broke, got enough bread

And mad hoes, ask Beavis I get nothing Butthead"

-- 98' Freestyle

3) "Facts on tracks I recite well

Everybody wanna be like Mike, but Mike wanna be like L"

---Let 'em Have it L

4) "They want to know why I'm so fly/

a girl ask me for a ring and I put one around her whole eye"

-- No Endz no Skinz

5) Big L is the nigga you expect to catch wreck in any cassette deck

I'm so ahead of my time, my parents haven't met yet

---7 Minute freestyle

Big L literally has over 10 times as many great punchlines as these, the above were only my 5 favorites. That leads me to another aspect of Big L game---he was a great rap battle/freestyle rapper. He entered a tournament wherein they were two thousand participants. He also had a reputation as a fearsome battle rapper and even stalemated the likes of Jay Z.

Ehh. I'm feeling lazier than I thought I was so I'm just going to end it one on this note. Big L was one of the best to ever do it. Period. Even though he's no longer with us, his music and influence will live with us forever. R.I.P. Big L and remember people; to....

DCCR2011 Top 10 Most Powerful Jedi of all-time: 1-4

Well as, this is the top 10 most powerful/skilled Jedi of all-time. I will be taking the route @shootingnova took with bis first most powerful Sith Lord thread, with this list so I hope you'll enjoy.

Side Note: This list will be mainly a Star Wars Legends list, as canon doesn't really have much at the moment. I will also be splitting this up into several different blogs because I'm to lazy and pressed for time to do them all at once. With that being said, lets begin shall we?

Most Powerful

1) Luke

No Caption Provided

Was there ever any doubt? Luke is the son of the Chosen One Anakin Skywalker, and being so, he inherited his fathers awesome Force potential. Via accolades and feats he easily the most powerful Jedi of all-time and is the leading candidate for the most powerful Force sensitive sans entities the galaxy has ever seen (though Palpatine may have something to say about that).

Accolades:

  • Stated as having the Force potential of his father, the Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker
  • Being stated as being the most Powerful Jedi in the galaxy during the Yuuzhan Vong War.
  • Stated as having more potential than Emperor Palpatine.
  • Mused by Vader to have even more Force potential than even himself as Anakin Skywalker.

Feats:

  • Manipulated several Proton Bombs thousands of feet in the air.
  • One shotted several Vong Warriors with a telekinetic wave.
  • Toppled a AT-AT via telekenetic power.
  • Crushed Mountain sized fortresses, rebuilt it, crushed it again, and scattered it's remains in the sea.
  • Held up an falling ISD.
  • Stomped Caedus with the Force..
  • Manipulated a Dovin Basal created Black Hole.

  • Deflected an AT-AT Chain Laser.
  • Can teleport anywhere in the known Galaxy via Fold Space.
  • Has manipulated the weather.
  • One shotted Yuuzhan Vong Warriors with Electronic Judgment.
  • Via Alter Environment, can control temperature and cause a creature three times the size of an X-Wing and resistance to blaster bolts to explode.
  • Telepathically scanned the minds of an entire Solar System of beings.
  • Used TP to connect his mind to Black Hole, who was in another Dimension (Hyperspace).
  • Caused Darth Caedus to flee, by implanting on his mind the illusion of an entire fleet of ships.
  • Used telepathy to hypnotize being, put them to sleep, implant/take away memories, etc, etc.
  • Used Doppleganger
  • Caused himself to become completely invisible to everyone in the Unrelieved sans his son Ben Skywalker

I could keep going on and on, but this alone proves my point.

2) Yoda

No Caption Provided

Yeah, Yoda is pretty much a no brainier for second in my opinion. He has gone toe-to-toe with the most powerful Sith Lord to ever exist, and basically stalemated him. He is the avatar of light, the model Jedi in the Order - and quite frankly a badass.

Accolades:

  • Being called the most powerful Jedi in the Order during his time
  • Stated as being the most powerful and devastating foe the Darkness have ever known
  • Stated by several sources to be near, or a flat-out equal to the confirmed most powerful Sith Lord ever to have lived; Darth Sidious.

Feats (Some taken from Silver's posted by Canon blog)

Feats:

  • Destroying two droid C-9979 landing vessels
  • Causing an avalanche
  • Perceiving events and eventualities throughout the galaxy
  • Altering the tides of battles by influencing armies and fleets
  • Absorbing and redirecting Force Lightning
  • Projecting Force Light
  • Rendering himself immovable against forces moving ships
  • Practically stomping Ventress with the Force
  • Tossed around Senetor Pods
  • Force pushed Palpatine

3. Kyp Durron

No Caption Provided

....I admit. Here is where it starts to get a tad murky, some may argue, Revan, Anika, or Jacen belongs in this spot - but I'm a firm believer of Kyp. Kyp Durron, in my opinion, is in the tier of Yoda when it comes to pure Force power. He has been praised by his peers for his power, and is sporting feats are nothing short of amazing.

Accolades:

  • Stated as being very power and skilled in the Force
  • Was stated as having "freighting" Force power by Luke Skywalker
  • Stated by Luke as being the most powerful Force presence he's felt with Obi-Wan and Yoda
  • Surpassed all the other Apprentices on the Jedi Academy by Lightyears with only a few weeks training.
  • Corran Horn concedes that even his best is nothing compared to Kyp's - and he even went on to say he was intimidated by his Force power
  • Stated by Luke Skywalker to have the potential to be the "greatest Jedi of them all"

Feats:

  • Knows Force drain
  • Can summon Force Lightning
  • Used Alter Environment to one shot a Leviathan
  • Used a dead Corellian space Freighter as a telekinetic weapon.
  • Tossed Builders at Flying TIE Fighters
  • Was stated to have the power to pull the Sun Crusher from the surface of the planet
  • Invented the Shadow Bomb technique
  • Hurled Corran Horn across a hanger bay with the flick of his wrist
  • Manipulated a Black Hole generated by a Dovin Basal
  • With help from Exar Kun, separated Luke souls from his body
  • Plot routs through Hyperspace via Astrogate without any Jedi training, formal or informal whatsoever
  • Can erase/implant memories in others.
  • Cast images in others mind

4) Jacen Solo

No Caption Provided

Well this is where the real controversy comes in at. Jacen, via novel blurbs was second only to Luke in the NJO, but I can't remember if that pertained to Force powers or all around. Regardless, the debate between Kyp vs Jacen, and by extension the second most powerful Jedi in the NJO rages on.

Accolade:

  • Stated as being the second most formidable/powerful Jedi in the NJO
  • Was stated to have great Force potential
  • Was ranked alongside Luke Skywalker as a threat to the Yuuzhan Vong
  • Achieved Oness and became the most Powerful Jedi the galaxy has ever seen.

Feats:

  • Used Force deflection to repel Star Destroyer Laser canon fire.
  • Casually absorbed blaster fire in the palm of his hands
  • Telepathically erased Ben Skywalker's memory.
  • Manipulated an X-wing casually.
  • Used esoteric Force powers such as Flow Walk Art of the Small, Fold Space, Fighting Sight, etc, etc.
  • Has used Memory Rub
  • Has shown the ability to create Illusion, implant emotions in others, etc, etc

Well, that's about all for now. I may come here later on and add feats accordingly since I was kinda pressed for time...so what do you think Viners do you agree? Disagree? Opinion people?

Thanks for reading if you did BTW.

Is Lil Wayne one of the greatest rappers ever?

No Caption Provided

As the thread title ask, do you think Wayne will go down as one of the best to do it? With Lil Wayne nearing the end of his career this year, I've been pondering his place among the greatest rappers of all-time.

To me, Lil Wayne IS one of the greatest to ever do it. He has withstood the test of time, and is still relevant to the public after being in the game for over a decade and a half, something, that only the likes of Jay-Z and Eminem has did more effectively, and that's debatable.

In terms of technical skills? Lil Wayne is beyond solid, he's actually pretty good. In terms of multisyllable rhymes schemes, Lil Wayne was good with that in his prime.

"Swagger tighter than a geese erection/

Fly go hard like yeast infection/"

"She remembered the name

It's Weezy Baby, January December the same"

"I'm a Young Money millionaire, tougher than Nigerian hair

My criteria compared to your career just isn't fair

I'm a venereal disease like a menstrual bleed"

In terms of word-play, no one shorter than Jay-Z is messing with him in that category (this is referring to mainstream of course),

Lines like

"And I hope I'm fishing in the right pond

And I hope you catchin' on to every line"

"Been in that water since a youngin you just shark food

Quick Draw McGraw I went to art school"

Those lines above are pure genius if you understood them. In terms of body of work, Wayne has several classics under his belt (imo) and has one of the greatest rap albums off all-time in his discography Tha Carter IV.

He has the influence, the accolades, sales, skills and relevance, so why is Wayne not in the G.O.A.T conversation? Granted, he has been sub-par these past few years, but how does that erase, the greatness has has put out for the vast majority of his career?

For all intents and purpose, this man is one of the greatest to ever do it, yet people put Weezy up there what the likes of Soulja Boy (really -_-). Well, that's enough of my rambling, what do you guys think? Is he in your top 10 (He is in my top 5 atm) or is he one of the most overrated rappers ever?

Joruus C'baoth respect thread

Before I start I would like to give credit to Credit to Silver for the lay-out.

Joruus C'baoth is an interesting characters to me. Maybe it's because he is one of the most insane characters in all of Star Wars canon.. *cough* excuse me, I mean Star Wars "Legends". That being said, he is a very powerful characters - and a favorite of mind - a respect thread is mandatory for me.

Keep in mind though, this blog will only cover most of his feats in Heir to the Empire and Dark Force Rising, I have yet to gather quotes from The Last Command and I still have to quote a few feats from the before-mentioned books. All in all, this thread is far from done.

All of that being said, respect Joruus C'baoth.

No Caption Provided

Power

Luke comments on how C'baoth was much more powerful in the Force then he was during most of the Rebellion era:

Artoo seemed to consider that, pointed out a possible flaw in the reasoning. "I didn't say it was the tightest theory in the galaxy," Luke growled at him, a glimmer of annoyance peeking through his fatigue. "Maybe I'm way off the mark. But if I'm not, it's possible that the five other Jedi Masters from the Outbound Flight project wound up anchored to Master C'baoth."

Artoo whistled thoughtfully. "Right," Luke agreed ruefully. "It didn't bother me any to have Ben around—in fact, I wish he had talked to me more often. But Master C'baoth was a lot more powerful than I was. Maybe it was different with him."

Excerpt from Dark Force Rising

Joruus C'baoth fires Sith Lightning so fast, that Pellaeon had no chance to flinch from the incoming bolt:

Pellaeon twisted to face him, instinctively drawing his blaster as he did so. Thrawn waited another few

heartbeats before slowly turning around himself. "How did they die?" he asked.

The old man smiled faintly. "I killed them, of course. Just as I killed the Guardian." He raised his empty

hands in front of him, palms upward. "Just as I now kill you." Without warning, blue lightning bolts flashed from his fingertips— And vanished without a trace a meter away from each of them. It all happened so fast that Pellaeon had no chance to even flinch, let alone fire. Now, belatedly, he raised his blaster, the scalding hot air from the bolts washing over his hand— "Hold," Thrawn said calmly into the silence. "However, as you can see, Guardian, we are not ordinary offworlders."

"The Guardian is dead!" the old man snapped, the last word almost swallowed up by the crackle of more lightning. Again, the bolts vanished into nothingness before even coming close.

Using TK, C'baoth stops an projectile shot from a crossbow in midair, before it reaches it's desired destination, all faster then Palleon's brain can process ; after that, Joruus proceeds to block blaster shot with a flat stone he levitated via TK faster then the eye can see:

The words were barely out of his mouth when the guard suddenly snapped the crossbow up and fired.

Instinctively, Pellaeon ducked, raising his blaster— And three meters from the Imperials the bolt came to an abrupt halt in midair. Pellaeon stared at the hovering piece of wood and metal, his brain only slowly catching up with what had just happened. "They are our guests," C'baoth told the guard in a voice clearly intended to reach everyone in the square. "They will be treated accordingly."

With a crackle of splintering wood, the crossbow bolt shattered, the pieces dropping to the ground. Slowly, reluctantly, the guard lowered his crossbow, his eyes still burning with a now impotent rage.

Thrawn let him stand there another second like that, then gestured to Rukh. The Noghri raised his blaster

and fired—

And in a blur of motion almost too fast to see, a flat stone detached itself from the ground and hurled itself directly into the path of the shot, shattering spectacularly as the blast hit it.

Thrawn spun to face C'baoth, his face a mirror of surprise and anger. "C'baoth—!"

"These aremy people, Grand Admiral Thrawn," the other cut him off, his voice forged from quiet steel.

"Not yours; mine. If there is punishment to be dealt out,I will do it."

C'baoth moves faster then Luke Skywalker:

Luke caught the flicker of sense a half second before Svan dived for the slugthrower. With a single smooth motion he had his lightsaber free of his belt and ignited. But C'baoth was faster. Even as Luke's green-white blade snapped into existence, C'baoth raised his hand; and from his fingertips flashed a sizzling volley of all-too-well remembered blue lighting.

Svan took the blast full in the head and chest, snapping over backwards with a scream of agony. He slammed into the ground, screaming again as C'baoth sent a second blast at him. The slug-thrower flew from his hands, its metal surrounded for an instant by a blue-white coronal discharge.

C'baoth lowered his hand, and for a long moment the only sound in the room was a soft whimpering from the man on the floor. Luke stared at him in horror, the smell of ozone wrenching at his stomach. "C'baoth!"

Possibly C'baoth's greatest TK feat, Joruus hurls a volley of small rocks at incredible speeds with enough Force to damage Mara Jade, it not only damages the ship, but it also sends it flying out of the sky by damaging it's repulser lifts:

The rim of the mountain surrounding the lake was visible now on the electropulse scanner, and the infrared had picked up an inhabited structure on the far side. Probably where Skywalker and this mad Jedi Master were, she decided, a guess that was confirmed a moment later as the sensors picked up a small mass of spaceship-grade metal just outside the building. There were no weapons emplacement or defense shields anywhere that she could detect, either on the rim or on the island beneath her. Maybe C'baoth didn't think be needed anything so primitive as turbolasers to protect him. Maybe he was right. Hunching herself over the control board, hair-trigger alert for any danger, Mara headed in.

She was nearly to midpoint of the crater when the attack came, a sudden impact on the Skipray's underside that kicked the entire craft a few centimeters upward. The second came on the heels of the first, this one centered on the ventral fin and yawing the ship hard to starboard. The ship jolted a third a time before Mara finally identified the weapon: it wasn't missiles or the laser blast, but small, fast-moving rocks, undetectable by most of the Skipay's sophisticated sensors.

The fourth impact knocked out the repulsorlifts, sending the Skipay falling out the sky.

Mara swore under her breath, throwing the Skipray's control surfaces into glide. Mode and keying for a contour scan of the cliff face beneath the rim building. A landing up on the rim was out of the question now; putting down on the limited are up there without her repulserlifts might be possible, but not with a Jedi Master fighting her the whole way. Alternately, she could go for the dark island beneath her, which would give her more room to operate but leave her with the problem of getting back up to the rim. Ditto if she tried to find a big enough landing are somewhere else down mountains.

Or she could admit defeat, fire up the main drive and pull for space, and go after Karde alone.

Gritting her teeth, she studied the contour scan. The rock storm had stopped after the fourth hit -- the Jedi Master, no doubt, waiting to see if she'd crash without further encouragement on his part. With little luck, maybe she could convince him that she was done for without actually wrecking the ship in the process. If she could just find the proper formation in the cliff face . . .

Just to get a feel for the size of the ship Mara was piloting, here is a pic of it below:

Telepathy/Empathy

Force Telepathy is a power through which Force sensitives can read, communicate, and manipulate thoughts. Empathy is a power through which Force sensitives can read, communicate, and manipulate emotions.

While being light years away, C'baoth contacts Luke Slywalker via telepathy:

With an effort, Luke dragged his thoughts back to the present. "I've got to go," he said, levering himself out of the cockpit seat. "Master C'baoth's calling me."

-- Excerpt taken from Dark Force Rising

C'boath tells Mara that he senses her presence for years and tell her about her past as the Emperor Hand:

C'baoth seemed to study her. "I could destroy you, you know," he said. The menace had vanished from his voice now, leaving something almost conversational in its place. "Right there where you stand, before you even knew the attack was coming. But I won't. Not now. I've felt your. Presence over the years, Mara Jade; the rising and falling of your power after the Emperor's death took most of your strength away. And now I've seen you in my meditations. Someday you will come to me, of your own free will"

--Excerpt from Dark Force Rising

Using telepathic means, C'baoth induces drowsiness on Mara Jade to the point she falls alseep while piloting the Skipray, it's only after she is a meter way from the Force blocking Ysalamir, the fatigue effect wains

Mentally crossing her fingers, she tapped the comm, keying the code she'd programmed in during the trip. Luck was with her: here, at. Least, Thrawn's people were still using standard Imperial guidance transponders. The Skipray's displays flashed the location, an island forming the center of a ring-shaped lake just past the sunset line. She triggered the transponder once more to be sure, then keyed in the sublight drive and started down. Trying to ignore the last image of the Emperor's face . . .

The Wailing of the ship's alarm jerked her awake. "What?" she barked aloud to the empty cockpit, sleep-sticky eyes flicking across the displays for the source of the trouble. It wasn't hard to find: the Skipray had rolled half over onto its side, its control surfaces screaming wist stress as the computer fought to keep her from spinning out of the sky. Inexplicably, she was already deep inside the lower atmosphere, well past the point where she should have switched over to the repulsorlift.

Clenching her teeth, she made the switchcover and then gave the scan map a quick look. She'd only been out of it for a minute or two but at the speed the Skipray was doing even a few seconds of the inattention could be fatal. She dug her knuckles hard into her eyes, fighting against the fatigue pulling at her and feeling the sweat breaking out again on her forehead. Flying while half asleep, her old instructor had often warned her, was the quickest if messiest way to end your life. And if she had gone down there would have been no one to blame but herself.

Or would she?

She leveled the ship off, confirmed that there were no mountains in her path, and keyed in the autopilot. The ysalamir and portable nutrient framework that Aves had given her were back near the aft hatchway, secured to the engine access panel. Unstrapping from her seat, Mara made her way back toward it -- It was as if someone had snapped on a light switch. One second she felt as if she had snapped on a light switch. One second she felt as if she had just finished a four-day battle; half a step later, a meter so so from the ysalamir, the fatigue abruptly vanished. She smiled grimly to herself. So her suspicion had been correct: Tharwn's mad the Jedi Master didn't want any company. "Nice try," she called into the air.

While being a distance distance away, C'baoth telepathically takes control of an Imperial officer, and it is later stated that he used his telepathy to take control of a space pilot light years away, so he could hijack his/her Lancet:

We'll go ourselves, Captain" Thrawn said. "Navigation: set us a course back to the Kantana fleet.

The navigation officer didn't move. He sat at his station, his back to them, unnaturally stiff. "Navigation?" Thrawn repeated. "Admiral, message coming through from the sentry line," the com officer reported suddenly. "Unidentified Lancer-class Frigate has entered the system and is approaching. They insist on speaking with you, personally and immediately."

Thrawn's glowing eyes narrowed as he tapped the comm switch . . . And suddenly Pellaeon realized who it must be aboard that ship. "This is Thrawn," the Grand Admiral said. "Master C'baoth, I presume.

"You presume correctly C'baoth voice boomed from the speaker. "I would speak with you, Grand Admiral. Now"

"We're on our way to assist the Judicator," Thrawn said, his eyes flicking to the still-motionless nav officer. "As you perhaps already know. When we return --"

"Now, Grand Admiral."

Moving quietly in the brittle silence, Pellaeon keyed for course projection on C'baoth's ship. "It'll take at least fifteen minutes delay to bring him aboard." Thrawn hissed softly between his teeth; and Pellaeon knew what was thinking. In the fluid situation of a spontaneous battle, a fifteen- minute delay could easily be the difference between victory and defeat. "Captain, order the Peremptory to assist the Judicator," the Grand Admiral said at last. "We'll remain here and consult our ally."

"Thank you, Grand Admiral," C'baoth said; and abruptly, the nav officer gasped and slumped in his chair. "I appreciate your generosity."

Thrawn reached to his board, and with a vicious flick of his wrist cut off the comm. He looked down into the crew pit and motioned to two bridge guards. "Sick bay," he told them, indicating the now-shivering nav officer.

"Where do you suppose C'baoth found that Lancet?" Pellaeon murmured as the guards helped the nav officer out of his seat and carried aft. "He most likely hijacked it," Thrawn said," his voice tight. He's been sending messages for distances several Light-years and he certainly knows how to take control of people. Apparently, he learned how to meld the two abilities."

Pellaeon looked down into the crew pit, a shiver running up his back. " I'm not sure I like that, sir"

"I don't much like it myself, Captain," Thrawn agreed, turning his head to look out the viewport. "It may be time," he added thoughtfully, "to reconsider our arrangement with Master C'baoth. To reconsider it very carefully.

C'baoth, communicates with two other task force 4 light-years away, while simultaneously utilizing Battle Meditation to raise the effectiveness Chimaera crew by 40% in every statistical category:

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Thrawn turn. "Master C'baoth? He said. "What's the status of the attacks in the other two systems?

"They proceed."

Frowning, Pallaeon swiveled around. It had been C'baoth's voice, but do throaty and strained as to be nearly unrecognizable.

As was, indeed, his appearance.

For a long moment Pallaeon stared at him, a cold and feeling in the pit of his stomach. C'baoth sat with unnatural stiffness, his eyes closed but visibly and rapidly moving behind his lids. His hands gripped and arms of his chair, and his lips pressed so tightly together that the veins and cords of his neck stood out. "Are you all right, Mater C'baoth?" He asked.

"Save your concern, Captain," Thrawn told him coldly. "He's doing what he enjoys the most: controlling people."

C'baoth made a sound somewhere between a snort and derisive chuckle.

"I told you once , Grand Admiral Thrawn, that this is not true power."

"So you've said", Thrawn said, his tone neutral. "Can you tell what sort of resistance they're facing?"

C'baoth's frowning face frowned harder. "Not precisely. But neither force is in danger. That much I can feel in their minds."

"Good. Then have Nemesis break off from the rest of its group and report back to the rendezvous to await us"

Pallaeon frowned at the Grand Admiral. "Sir-?"

Thrawn turned to him, a warning gleam in his glowing eyes. "Attend to your duties, Captain," he said.

-and worth sudden flash of insight, Pallaeon realized that this multiedged attack on the New Republic territory was more than simply part of the setupfor the Sluis Van raid. It was, in addition, a test. A test of C'baoth's abilities, yes; but to also test of his willingness to accept orders.

"Yes, Admiral," Pallaeon murmured and turned back to his displays.

The Chimaera was in range now, and tiny sparks started to appear on the tactical holo as the ship's huge turbolaser batteries begin firing.

Communications station flared and went black; planetside industrial targets flared, went dark, then flared again as the secondary fired were ignited. A pair of old Carrak-class light cruisers swept in from star-board, the Chimaera's Tie fighter screen breaking formation to engage them. Off in the distance, the Stomrhawk's batteries were blazing against an orbiting defense platform; the battle seemed to be going well.

Remarkably well, in fact...

An unpleasant feeling began to stir in the pit of Pallaeon's stomach as he checked his board's real-tome status readout. Thus far the Imperial forces had lost only three Tie fighters and sustained superficial damage to the Star Destroyers, compared to eight of the enemy's line ships and eighteen of its fights gone. Granted, the Imperials vastly outgunned the defenders. But still...

Slowly, reluctantly, Pallaeon reached to his board. A few weeks back he'd made up statistical composite of the Chimaera battle profiles for the past year. He called it up, superimposed it over the current analysis.

There was no mistake. In every single category the sub-category of speed, coordination, efficiency, and accuracy, the Chimaera and it's crew were running no less than 40 percent more effective than usual.

He turned to look at C'baoth's strained face, an icy shiver running up his back. He'd never really bought into Thrawn's theory as to how and why the Fleet had lost the Battle of Endor. Certainly he'd never wanted to believe it. But now suddenly, the issue was no longer open to argument.

And with the bulk of his attention and power on the task of mentally communicating with two other task forces nearly four light-years away, C'baoth still had enough left to do all this. Pallaeon had wondered, with a certain private contempt, just what had given the old man a right to add. Master to his title. Now, he knew.

Excerpt from Heir to the Empire

Via a deceptive plan by Thrawn, coordinated by Joruus C'baoth, of firing turbolaser blasts at the shields and having cloaked ships, which had sneaked in with the planetary shields down, to fire. This caused the appearance that Thrawn was firing through the shields, and Ukio surrendered. This is an monumental feat because Joruus was controlling several thousand man crew's with split-second timing

As an aside, he also senses Princess Leia from a far distance in space.

The countdown reached zero, and on the main wall display the planet Ukio appeared. "We should put

up a tactical display, Master C'baoth," he said. C'baoth waved a hand. "As you wish."

Pellaeon reached over the double display ring and touched the proper key, and in the center of the room the holographic tactical display appeared. The Chimaera was driving toward high orbit above the sunside equator; the ten Katana fleet Dreadnaughts of its task force were splitting up into outer and inner defense positions; and the Stormhawk was coming in as backstop from the night side. Other ships, mostly freighters and other commercial types, could be seen dropping through the brief gaps Ground Control was opening for them in Ukio's energy shield, a hazy blue shell surrounding the planet about fifty kilometers above the surface. Two of the blips flashed red: the guide freighters from theStormhawk , looking as innocent as all the rest of the ships scurrying madly for cover. The freighters, and the four invisible companions they towed.

"Invisible only to those without eyes to see them," C'baoth murmured.

"So now you can see the ships themselves, can you?" Pellaeon growled. "How Jedi skills grow."

He'd been hoping to irritate C'baoth a little—not much, just a little. But it was a futile effort. "I can see

the men inside your precious cloaking shields," the Jedi Master said placidly. "I can see their thoughts and guide their wills. What does the metal itself matter?"

Pellaeon felt his lip twist. "I suppose there's a lot that doesn't matter to you," he said.

From the corner of his eye he saw C'baoth smile. "What doesn't matter to a Jedi Master does not matter to the universe." The freighters and cloaked cruisers were nearly to the shield now. "They'll be dropping the tow cables as

soon as they're inside the shield," Pellaeon reminded C'baoth. "Are you ready?"

The Jedi Master straightened up in his seat and closed his eyes to slits. "I await the Grand Admiral's

command," he said sardonically. For another second Pellaeon looked at the other's composed expression, a shiver running up through

him. He could remember vividly the first time C'baoth had tried this kind of direct long-distance control. Could remember the pain that had been on C'baoth's face; the pinched look of concentration and agony as he struggled to hold the mental contacts.

Barely two months ago, Thrawn had confidently said that C'baoth would never be a threat to the Empire because he lacked the ability to focus and concentrate his Jedi power on a long-term basis. Somehow, between that time and now, C'baoth had obviously succeeded in learning the necessary control.

Which left C'baoth as a threat to the Empire. A very dangerous threat indeed.

The intercom beeped. "Captain Pellaeon?"

Pellaeon reached over the display ring and touched the key, pushing away his fears about C'baoth as

best he could. For the moment, at least, the Fleet needed C'baoth. Fortunately, perhaps, C'baoth also

needed the Fleet. "We're ready, Admiral," he said.

"Stand by," Thrawn said. "Tow cables detaching now."

"They are free," C'baoth said. "They are under power... moving now to their appointed positions." "Confirm that they're beneath the planetary shield," Thrawn ordered.

For the first time a hint of the old strain crossed C'baoth's face. Hardly surprising; with the cloaking

shield preventing theChimaera from seeing the cruisers and at the same time blinding the cruisers' own sensors, the only way to know exactly where they were was for C'baoth to do a precise location check on the minds he was touching. "All four ships are beneath the shield," he said.

"Be absolutely certain, Jedi Master. If you're wrong—"

"I am not wrong, Grand Admiral Thrawn," C'baoth cut him off harshly. "I will do my part in this battle.

Concern yourself with yours."

For a moment the intercom was silent. Pellaeon winced, visualizing the Grand Admiral's expression.

"Very well, Jedi Master," Thrawn said calmly. "Prepare to do your part."

There was the double click of an opening comm channel. "This is the Imperial Star Destroyer Chimaera , calling the Overliege of Ukio," Thrawn said. "In the name of the Empire, I declare the Ukian system to be once again under the mandate of Imperial law and the protection of Imperial forces. You will lower your shields, recall all military units to their bases, and prepare for an orderly transfer of command."

There was no response. "I know you're receiving this message," Thrawn continued. "If you fail to

respond, I will have to assume that you mean to resist the Empire's offer. In that event, I would have no choice but to open hostilities."

Again, silence. "They're sending another transmission," Pellaeon heard the comm officer say. "Sounds a little more panicked than the first one was."

"I'm certain their third will be even more so," Thrawn told him. "Prepare for firing sequence one. Master C'baoth?"

"The cruisers are ready, Grand Admiral Thrawn," C'baoth said. "As am I."

"Be sure that you are," Thrawn said, quietly threatening. "Unless the timing is absolutely perfect, this

entire show will be worse than useless. Turbolaser battery three: stand by firing sequence one on my

mark. Three... two... one... fire."

On the tactical hologram a double lance of green fire angled out from theChimaera 's turbolaser

batteries toward the planet below. The blasts struck the hazy blue of the planetary shield, splashed

slightly as their energy was defocused and reflected back into space—

And with the desired perfect timing the two cloaked cruisers hovering on repulsorlifts beneath the shield

at those two points fired in turn, their turbolaser blasts sizzling through the atmosphere into two of Ukio's major air defense bases.

That was what Pellaeon saw. The Ukians, with no way of knowing about the cloaked cruisers, would have seen theChimaera fire two devastating shots cleanly through an impenetrable planetary shield.

"Third transmission cut off right in the middle, sir," the comm officer reported with a touch of dark humor. "I think we surprised them." "Let's convince them it wasn't a fluke," Thrawn said. "Prepare firing sequence two. Master C'baoth?"

"The cruisers are ready."

"Turbolaser battery two: stand by firing sequence two on my mark. Three... two... one... fire."

Again the green fire lanced out, and again, with perfect timing, the cloaked cruisers created their illusion.

"Well done," Thrawn said. "Master C'baoth, move the cruisers into position for sequences three and

four."

"As you command, Grand Admiral Thrawn."

Unconsciously, Pellaeon braced himself. Sequence four had two of the Ukians' thirty overlapping shield

generators as its targets. Launching such an attack would mean that Thrawn had given up on his stated

goal of taking Ukio with its planetary defenses intact.

"Imperial Star Destroyer Chimaera , this is Tol dosLla of the Ukian Overliege," a slightly quavering voice came from the intercom speaker. "We would ask you to cease your bombardment of Ukio while we discuss terms for surrender."

"My terms are quite simple," Thrawn said. "You will begin by lowering your planetary shield and allowing my forces to land. They will be given control of the shield generators themselves and of all ground-to-space weaponry. All fighting vehicles larger than command speeders will be moved to designated military bases and turned over to Imperial control. Though you will, of course, be ultimately answerable to the Empire, your political and social systems will remain under your control. Provided your people behave themselves, of course."

"And once these changes have been implemented?"

"Then you will be part of the Empire, with all the rights and duties that implies."

"There will be no war-level tax levies?" dosLla asked suspiciously. "No forced conscription of our young people?"

Pellaeon could imagine Thrawn's grim smile. No, the Empire would never need to bother with forced

conscription again. Not with the Emperor's collection of Spaarti cloning cylinders in their hands.

"No, to your second question; a qualified no to your first," Thrawn told the Ukian. "As you are obviously aware, most Imperial worlds are currently under war-status taxation levels. However, there are exceptions, and it is likely that your share of the war effort will come directly from your extensive food production and processing facilities." There was a long pause from the other end. DosLla was no fool, Pellaeon realized—the Ukian knew full well what Thrawn had in mind for his world. First it would be direct Imperial control of the ground/space defenses, then direct control of the food distribution system, the processing facilities, and the vast farming and livestock grazing regions themselves; and in a very short time the entire planet would have become nothing more than a supply depot for the Imperial war machine. But the alternative was for him to stand silently by and watch as his world was utterly and impossibly demolished before his eyes. And he knew that, too.

"We will lower the planetary shields,Chimaera , as a gesture of good faith," dosLla said at last, his tonedefiant but with a hint of defeat to it. "But before the generators and ground/space weaponry can be turned over to Imperial forces we shall require certain guarantees regarding the safety of the Ukian people and our land."

"Certainly," Thrawn said, without any trace of the gloating that most Imperial commanders would have indulged in at this point. A small act of courtesy that, Pellaeon knew, was as precisely calculated as the rest of the attack had been. Permitting the Ukian leaders to surrender with their dignity intact would slow down the inevitable resistance to Imperial rule until it was too late. "A representative will be on his way shortly to discuss the particulars with your government," Thrawn continued. "Meanwhile, I presume you have no objection to our forces taking up preliminary defense positions?"

A sigh, more felt than really heard. "We have no objections,Chimaera ," dosLla said reluctantly. "We are lowering the shield now."

On the tactical display, the blue haze surrounding the planet faded away. "Master C'baoth, have the cruisers move to polar positions," Thrawn ordered. "We don't want any of the drop ships blundering into them. General Covell, you may begin transporting your forces to the surface. Standard defensive positions around all targets."

"Acknowledged, Admiral," Covell's voice said, a little too dryly, and Pellaeon felt a tight smile twitch at his lip. It had only been two weeks since the top Fleet and army commanders had been let in on the secret of the MountTantiss cloning project, and Covell was one of those who still hadn't adjusted completely to the idea.

Though the fact that three of the companies he was about to lead down to the surface were composed entirely of clones might have had something to do with his skepticism.

On the tactical hologram the first waves of drop ships and TIE fighter escorts had exited the Chimaera and Stormhawk , fanning out toward their assigned targets. Clones in drop ships, about to carry out Imperial orders. As the clone crews in the cloaked cruisers had already done so well.

Pellaeon frowned, an odd and uncomfortable thought suddenly striking him. Had C'baoth been able to guide the cruisers so well because each of their thousand-man crews were composed of variants on just twenty or so different minds? Or—even more disturbing—could part of the Jedi Master's split-second control have been due to the fact that C'baoth was himself a clone?

And either way, did that mean that the Mount Tantiss project was playing directly into C'baoth's hands in his bid for power? Perhaps. One more question he would have to bring to Thrawn's attention.

Pellaeon looked down at C'baoth, belatedly remembering that in the Jedi Master's presence such thoughts were not his private property. But C'baoth wasn't looking at him, knowingly or otherwise. He was staring straight ahead, his eyes unfocused, the skin of his face taut. A faint smile just beginning to crease his lips. "Master C'baoth?"

"They're there," C'baoth whispered, his voice deep and husky. "They're there," he repeated, louder thistime.

Pellaeon frowned back at the tactical hologram. "Who's where?" he asked.

"They're at Filve," C'baoth said. Abruptly, he looked up at Pellaeon, his eyes bright and insane. "My Jedi are at Filve." "Master C'baoth, confirm that the cruisers have moved to polar positions," Thrawn's voice came sharply.

"Then report on the feint battles—"

"My Jedi are at Filve," C'baoth cut him off. "What do I care about your battles?"

"C'baoth—"

With a wave of his hand, C'baoth shut off the intercom. "Now, Leia Organa Solo," he murmured softly,

"you are mine."

Excerpt from The Last Command

Possibly his greatest telepathic feat, C'baoth takes control of over 37,000 aboard the Chemria and threatens to use it to kidnap Leia and her twins on Curuscant, this is not only his best feat TP feat, this is one of the greatest feat in the entire Star Wars mythos:

Thrawn shook his head. "I have no intention of destroying Coruscant—"

"You lie!" C'baoth cut him off, jabbing an accusing finger at him. "You always lie to me. But no more. No more.I command the Empire, and all its forces." He raised his hands above his head, an eerie blue-white coronal sheen playing about them. Pellaeon cringed despite himself, remembering the lightning bolts C'baoth had thrown at them in the crypt on Wayland. But no lightning came.

C'baoth simply stood there, his hands clutching at empty air, his eyes gazing toward infinity. Pellaeon frowned at him... and he was just considering asking C'baoth what he was talking about when he happened to glance down into the portside crew pit. The crewers were sitting stiffly in their chairs, their backs parade-ground straight, their hands folded in their laps, their eyes staring blankly through their consoles. Behind them, the officers were equally stiff, equally motionless, equally oblivious. The starboard crew pit was the same as was the aft bridge.

And on the consoles Pellaeon could see, which should have been active with incoming reports from other sectors of the ship, the displays had all gone static. It was a moment Pellaeon had expected and dreaded since that first visit to Wayland. C'baoth had taken command of the Chimaera . "Impressive," Thrawn said into the brittle silence. "Very impressive indeed. And what do you propose to do now?"

"Need I repeat myself?" C'baoth said, his voice trembling slightly with obvious strain. "I will take this ship to Coruscant. To take my Jedi, not to destroy them." "It's a minimum of five days to Coruscant from here," Thrawn said coldly.

"Five days during which you'll have to maintain your control of the Chimaera 's thirty-seven thousand crewers. Longer, of course, if you intend for them to actually fight at the end of that voyage. And if you intend for us to arrive with any support craft, that figure of thirty-seven thousand will increase rather steeply." C'baoth snorted contemptuously. "You doubt the power of the Force, Grand Admiral Thrawn?"

"Not at all," Thrawn said. "I merely present the problems you and the Force will have to solve if you continue with this course of action. For instance, do you know where the Coruscant sector fleet is based, or the number and types of ships making it up?

Have you thought about how you will neutralize Coruscant's orbital battle stations and ground-based systems? Do you know who is in command of the planet's defenses at present, and how he or she is likely to deploy the available forces? Have you considered Coruscant's energy field? Do you know how best to use the strategic and tactical capabilities of an Imperial Star Destroyer?"

"You seek to confuse me," C'baoth accused. "Your men—my men—know the answers to all those questions."

"To some of them, yes," Thrawn said. "But you cannot learn the answers. Not all of them. Certainly not quickly enough."

"I control the Force," C'baoth repeated angrily. But to Pellaeon's ear there was a hint of pleading in the tone. Like a child throwing a tantrum that he didn't really expect to get him anywhere...

"No," Thrawn said, his voice abruptly soothing. Perhaps he, too, had picked up on C'baoth's tone.

"The galaxy is not yet ready for you to lead, Master C'baoth. Later, when order has been restored, I will present it to you to govern as you please. But that time is not yet."

For a long moment C'baoth remained motionless, his mouth working half invisibly behind his flowing beard. Then, almost reluctantly, he lowered his arms; and as he did so, the bridge was filled with muffled gasps and groans and the scraping of boots on steel decking as the crewers were released from the Jedi Master's control. "You will never present the Empire to me," C'baoth told Thrawn. "Not of your own will."

"That may depend on your ability to maintain that which I am in the process of re-creating," Thrawn said.

"And which will not come to be at all without you?"

Thrawn cocked an eyebrow. "You're the Jedi Master. As you gaze into the future, can you see a future Empire arising without me?"

"I see many possible futures," C'baoth said. "In not all of them do you survive."

"An uncertainty faced by all warriors," Thrawn nodded. "But that was not what I asked."

C'baoth smiled thinly. "Never assume you are indispensable to my Empire, Grand Admiral Thrawn. Only I am that."

He sent his gaze leisurely around the bridge, then drew himself to his full height. "For now, however, I am pleased that you should lead my forces into battle." He looked back sharply at Thrawn. "You may lead; but you will not destroy Coruscant. Not until I have my Jedi."

"As I have said already, I have no intention of destroying Coruscant," Thrawn told him. "For now, the fear and undermining of morale that accompany a siege will serve my purposes better."

"Ourpurposes," C'baoth corrected. "Do not forget that, Grand Admiral Thrawn."

"I forget nothing, Master C'baoth," Thrawn countered quietly.

"Good," C'baoth said, just as quietly. "Then you may carry on with your duties. I will be meditating,

should you require me. Meditating upon the future of my Empire."

He turned and strode off the bridge; and Pellaeon let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.

"Admiral..."

"Signal theRelentless , Captain," Thrawn ordered him, swiveling back around again. "Tell Captain Dorja I need a five-hundred-man caretaker crew for the next six hours."

Pellaeon looked down into the portside crew pit. Here and there one could see a crewer sitting properly at his station or an officer standing more or less vertically. But for the most part the crewers were collapsed limply in their seats, their officers leaning against walls and consoles or lying trembling on the deck.

"Yes, sir," he said, stepping back to his chair and keying for comm. "Will you be postponing the Coruscant operation?"

"No more than absolutely necessary," Thrawn said. "History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up will be left behind, to watch from a distance."

He glanced back at the door through which C'baoth had departed. "And those who stand in our way," he added softly, "will not watch at all."

DCCR Review ; Star Wars :Red Harvest

I was supposed to do this days ago. But anyone who has even a rudimentary knowledge on me knows I'm, quite honestly, one of the most laziness of all Viners. Now that I'm done with that irrelevant tangent it's time to get down to business. Ladies and gentlemen let me introduce to you; Red Harvest.

Isn't he the most beautiful being you've ever laid your eyes on?
Isn't he the most beautiful being you've ever laid your eyes on?

Publisher summary:

The era of the Old Republic is a dark and dangerous time, as Jedi Knights valiantly battle the Sith Lords and their ruthless armies. But the Sith have disturbing plans—and none more so than the fulfillment of Darth Scabrous’s fanatical dream, which is about to become nightmarish reality.

Unlike those other Jedi sidelined to the Agricultural Corps—young Jedi whose abilities have not proved up to snuff—Hestizo Trace possesses one extraordinary Force talent: a gift with plants. Suddenly her quiet existence among greenhouse and garden specimens is violently destroyed by the arrival of an emissary from Darth Scabrous. For the rare black orchid that she has nurtured and bonded with is the final ingredient in an ancient Sith formula that promises to grant Darth Scabrous his greatest desire.

But at the heart of the formula is a never-before-seen virus that’s worse than fatal—it doesn’t just kill, it transforms. Now the rotting, ravenous dead are rising, driven by a bloodthirsty hunger for all things living—and commanded by a Sith Master with an insatiable lust for power and the ultimate prize: immortality . . . no matter the cost.

The plot

At the Sith academy Odacer-Faustin located on the planet Odacer Faustin, Darth Scabrous, (the main antagonist for this story) hire's the bounty hunter Tulkh to the Murakami orchid from the Jedi Agricultural Corps, for reason that is unknown to Tulkh. Tulkh then proceeds to steal the orchid but was surprised to learn he can not bring it back alive with out it's planet (Hestizo Trace Nicknamed "Zo" in the novel and is the main protagonist for this story) Tulkh then kidnaps her, along with the orchid and brings them both to Darth Scabrous. When their Scabrous mixes the orchid with a strange Sith alchemy device that pumps yellowish fluid through tubes. When said fluids was pumped into Wim Nickter (a Sith trainee) that's when things get real serious.

Wim is then turned into a un-dead cannibalistic zombie that is infected with the "Sickness" the virus caused when the orchid is mixed with the special Sith alchemist concoction mixed by Darth Scabrous, who, in-turn, learned it from his Sith Teacher Darth Scabrous. Scabrous is then attacked by Wim, who ferociously takes a chunk out of Scabrous's face, infecting the Sith Lord with "Sickness" [quote below] He then proceeds to infect the populace of the Sith Academy with the "Sickness"

Quote below :

The Sith Lord gazed upon his creation. A terrible, prescient smile crept across his face.

"Nickter," he said. "Come to me"

The thing shuffled another step forward, and Scabrous held out one hand beckoning it forth like an animal.

"Yes. That's right"

All at once Nickter sprang forward with entirely different kind of urgency, the tubes ripping of its spine. Reddish yellow stuff splashed and spewed from the open tubes, spraying out into the air. From his hiding place Jura saw the Sith Lord rear backward, his arms in front of his face, as the thing that had once been Win Nivkter landed on top of him and without hesitation sank its teeth into Scabrous's face.

Scabrous swung one arm upward, and the thing flew back across the lab, its body reduced to a momentary blur, flailing into a tall rack of unused flask and beakers not far from where Jura was still crouched.

The rack exploded in a deafening cacophony of shattered glass, the thing tumbling over the floor, and Jura saw it push itself upright, its cheeks and forehead glittering with broken shards like dragon teeth.

Astringent smells of alcohol and ammonia and carbolic acid filled the air.

Jura saw the girl stand up and run for the turbo lift. She never looked back, not even as the door sealed shut behind her.

A roar of fury shook the chamber around him, loud enough that Jura felt it reverberating in the hollow of his chest. On the opposite side of the Lab, Scabrous rose up. The right half of his hung down in a pale bloody flap. Above it, his eyes coruscated with anger so ferocious that looked like something entirely different, something dangerously close to madness.

The Sith Lord flung out his right hand, palm raised, in the direction of Nickter's corpse. The corpse jerked back again, tumbling like a thing on wire, and this time Jura Ostrogoth realized that he was the one crouched directly in its path.

The realization came to late too save him. Nickter's corpse collided with him, knocking him off his feat and pounding the air out of his lungs, hurling both of them backward into one of the wide curved view ports that formed the tower's wall Jura's final impression-that the entire world was bursting apart around him in s brittle, deafening explosion-was not altogether wrong.

The he fell.

--Taken from Red Harvest

As he infects people the novel then takes a look at four (or is it five? I'm way to lazy to check) Sith trainees and the academies Blade Master. I can't remember either of their names for sh!t right now (hold on for a sec while I flick through the book......)

I found it! =P Their names are: Kindra, Hartwig, Maggs, Rance Lussk,Ra'at and the Sith Combat Master Xat Hraken. As they try to work "together" to survive but, they fail.

Miserably.

Being trained in the Sith philosophy they are incapable of working together even in a life or death situation. They don't trust each other for sh!t and their back stabbing ways hurt them in the end.

All the while this is going on Zo's brother, a Jedi Knight, founds out his sister is kidnapped and proceeds to rescue her from Odacer-Faustin.

Now back to the main story.

Tulkh and Zo have no choice but to work together and find a way to get off the god forsaken. All in the while Scabrous schemes on a way to get Zo in his grasp so he can get what he wanted the whole time, the reason all of this transpired from the beginning.

Immortality.

The Sith potion that was made was intended to grant Scabrous immortality but their was only one more ingredient he needed to completely his quest.

A freshly ripped out heart. The heart of a Jedi like Zo. He would need to cut it out of her chest and then eat it for him to increase his Midi-chlorian to high level so, his body, can balance out the "Sickness" and grant him immortality. :P

I'm not going to soil the story for those who may want to read it so I'm going to stop right here.

My thoughts

This is a great book in my opinion. The characterization is pretty solid, Scabrous is a truly mincing villain, Schreiber does a good job of not straying away from the story and giving detailed descriptions. the overall plot is solid and the chapters are short so you can easily read them in about 10 minutes(well the book is short in general it's only about 244 pages long. Compared to most EU books which are at least around 300)

Most of all you do not need to be a seasoned Star Wars EU fan to read the book. This is actually my second EU book I ever read (first being Episode IV novelization) it's not really important to the continuity and the events of this book has nothing to do with other EU works; meaning someone with little to no knowledge on the EU can read it and enjoy it just as much as I did.

Badass moment of the book

Just for fun here is the badass moment of the book for me.

Zo wrecks multiple Sith zombies before Tuhlk can even finish saying "get down" virtually viewing the world in slow-motion ^_^ [quote below]

She looked around again and saw the things crashing to the ground on all sides of her, raising their heads and opening their mouths.

And everything

Slowed.

Down.

"Get....." Tulkh was saying one arm sludging back to pluck a meter-long arrow from his quiver, moving slowly that he seemed to be underwater. Zo sprang up into the air like a woman moving through a gallery of wax figures. She came down just behind one of the Sith-things, grabbed it's greasy, partially decayed skull in both hands from the back and wretched it hard to the left. The cervical spine popped and gave with a crunch, the entire cranium coming loose as she ripped it free from it's shoulders. The head was still screaming as she threw it underhand into the next shambling thing, hitting it hard enough to knock it back into the side of the tower. A third she grabbed by the throat and crotch, hosting it up and pile-driving it strait upward in the direction it had come.

Behind her, she heard a twang as Tulkh's arrow finally left the bowstring. Without glancing back, Zo reached out and lifted the flying arrow out of the air. She did this effortlessly, without a thought, like someone taking a book from a shelf. Behind her, across the depth of motionless snowflakes, Tulkh stood with his lips still curling to form the last part of his first word while five remaining Sith-things perched like statues barely moving in various aspects of attack.

Spring forward, snapping the arrow in two, Zo buried the halves of the shaft in two of their skulls hard enough to impale them permanently together, face-to-face like horrific loves melded for all eternity. She grabbed the arm of the grinning, ,mossy-faced Sith acolyte who appeared to have gnawed through his own lip and the interior of his mouth up to his hard palate. Twist. Pop. The arm came free at the elbow and she swung it down like a club on a skull of the walking corpse in front of him. She sensed events moving faster now, her hold on the situation loosening again. The snowflakes were coming unstuck from the air, starting to confetti down in reckless profusion. The Sith-thing that she'd flung upward earlier was finally coming back down. As the last of the things shambled toward her, she heard a dull and whacking thump, the kindling-sharp crack of a dozen fractured bones.

".......down!" Tulkh finished, only then seeming to realize that the arrow was gone from his bow and that the Sith-things were all on the ground now, torn apart. His nostrils twitched.

"leave any fro me?"

A Darth Vader (EU) Tourney respect thread

Okay as you all know (or you may not I mean who really cares?) I enter tourneys frequently on the battle forum and when I entire said tourneys majority of the time I use characters from my one of my favorite universe; Star Wars. being as such it is really a pain to have to constantly up-load the same scans and scavenge for the same quotes every time, thus I am creating this thread. For one I will like to credit @silver2467 for some of these scans (not all though, lol I am not that much of a thief)

Vader is one of my favorite characters in the Star Wars universe and he is someone I plan to use frequently in the battle tourneys, so that is why I'm creating a mini respect thread I will not gather every scan/quote for every power Vader has, I do not have the time to do it, thus that is why this is a mini respect thread to highlight Vaders best feats. I will leave the real respect threads to the real experts such as Silver. After taking me hours to gather these scans/quotes, I hope you respect Vader as much as I do.

Speed/Agility/Jumping

Vader has several notable speed feats

Here he reacts to a turret emplacement and blocks it with his lightsaber:

Here Vader reflects/dodges several blaster bolts fired by multiple troopers on several occasions:

Various examples of Vader creating afterimages/blurring motion/blurring trails of light with his lightsaber:

He has moved so fast he seemed to have teleported behind his foe while also evading a blaster bolt at point blink range:

Showing great jumping and sprinting speed:

Shryne fired a quick burst, then sprinted for the doorway. Behind him, his humanoid accomplices were also in motion, stunning the guards to unconsciousness and racing for the open gate.

Angling his blade, Vader deflected the bolts with intent, but by jinking and jagging Shryne managed to evade each parry. Vader leapt, his powerful prosthetic legs carrying him to the top of a broad but short flight of steps in time to see Shryne sprint across the bridge at Jedi speed, motioning to his accomplices to move Zar through the gate.

Vader leapt again, this time to the bridge, and to within only a few meters of Shryne, who spun about, dropping to one knee and firing repeatedly. This time Vader decided to show Shryne whom he was dealing with. Holding his lightsaber to one side, he raised his right hand to turn the blaster bolts.

Clearly astonished, Shryne remained on one knee, but only briefly. In an instant he had passed through the gate and was shouldering his way through the crowd outside the wall.

Vader's final leap landed him just short of the rampart. Over the heads of the milling beings, at the forward edge of a landing platform, a woman with gray-laced black hair was gesturing frantically to Shryne and his cohorts, who were already hauling Fang Zar up the platform steps.

--Taken from Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader

Roan Lands before he could even react:

"He is a former associate, yes, but --"

It happened before he could get out another word. Faster than an eyeblink. Faster than he'd seen anyone move, anyone except Yoda.

The lightsaber hadn't been there, and then it was, and the lightsaber was a blur. Vader moved without seeming to move, and the lightsaber sliced into Roan, straight into his chest. Straight into his heart.

-- Taken from Star Wars: Last of the Jedi: Secret Weapon

More showing of Vader moving his lightsaber as blurring trails/after images:

Vader waves his lightsaber in a blur and moves it fast enough that the blurring motion appears to be nothing but a "blurring blue circle"

He draws and swings his lightsaber faster then the human eye could dare follow.

Faster than a human eye could follow, Vader's lightsaber was up, activated and moving. Grammel's slashed form pitched wildly, stumbled backward and tumbled over the side of the crawler. There was a lull as the stunned driver looked on in terror.

--Taken from Splinter of the Mind's Eye

He waves his lightsaber in a blur and swings it fast enough that the blurring motions appear as nothing but a bright circle.

"No," Vader assured him, "no. You overestimate yourself, child." The Dark Lord drew himself up to his full, awesome height. "I have finished playing with you."

Swinging his saber until it was no more than a blue blur in the dank air of the temple, he leaped straight up into the air. It was more than a jump, less than levitation. Out of the blue circle of energy he flung the saber.

--Taken from Splinter of the Mind's Eye

A caught off-guard Vader, draws his lightsaber faster than thought, waves it invisibly fast, and deflects over a dozen blaster bolts. Albeit, one breached his armor but as mentioned before he was caught off guard, he also destroys the blaster torrent with a gesture afterwards because he's a boss like that.

The Dark Lord stepped into the room, scanning it. There was something here...

The faint click of metallic weapons reached his ears. Faster than thought, Vader drew and ignited his lightsaber. In the same moment, small openings appeared in the walls and ceiling, and hidden blasters fired. Energy beams rained down on the Dark Lord and his soldiers. Stormtroopers cried out as blaster bolts shattered their white armor.

At least a dozen bolts streaked toward Vader himself. Moving faster than the eye could follow, Vader's lightsaber blocked them all.

Except for one.

The last blaster shot slipped past his saber and glanced off the Dark Lord's armored shoulder. Circuits snapped and sizzled. Looking down, Vader saw that the energy beam had sliced a thin hole in his armor and reached his skin. A tiny stream of blood trickled down his armor and dripped onto the stone floor. The Dark Lord let out a low growl and covered the wound with his gloved hand. The wound itself was only a scratch, but he relied on his armor's power to keep him alive. Now that it had been punctured, he would have to have it repaired.

More blasters fired.

"Retreat," Vader ordered, backing out of the building. Only then did he realize that all his men were dead.

Angrily, Vader waved one hand across the room. One by one, the hidden weapons exploded and sputtered as if struck by invisible lightning. The blaster fire stopped.

The Dark Lord walked over to the wall and studied one of the small openings. Inside, the remains of a ruined blaster smoldered. By the looks of the device, the blaster weapons were as old as the building itself.

Understanding as much, the Emperor's executioner was moving faster now. A jump carried him to the rampart, just short of the lowering shield, where he did something so unexpected that it took Shryne a moment to make sense of what was happening.

Vader hurled his ignited lightsaber through the air.

For a split second Shryne thought that he had done so in anger. Then, in awe, he grasped that Vader had

aimed.

Spinning out from under the lowering security grate, the crimson blade sailed high over the crowd, following a trajectory that took it north of the landing platform; then, on reaching the distal end of its arc, it began to boomerang back.

Shryne flew for the top of the stairway, his gaze frilly engaged on the twirling blade, his heart hammering in his chest. Calling on the Force, he tried to influence the course of the lightsaber, but either the Force wasn't with him or Vader's Force abilities were overpowering his.

The blade was whipping toward the landing platform now, close enough for Shryne to hear it whine through the air, and spinning so swiftly it might have been a blood-red disk.

Passing within a meter of Shryne's outstretched hands, the lightsaber struck Fang Zar first, ripping a deep gouge across his upper chest and nearly decapitating him; then, continuing on, it struck an unsuspecting Jula across the back before completing its swift and lethal circle and slamming into the upper reaches of the fully lowered rampart gate, where it switched off and plummeted to the paving stones with a metallic clangor.

Don Much

Vader can also use Don Much, which he can use strip others of there concentration during battle:

Vader uses the Force as he tempts Luke toward the dark side.

The wind picked up, and Vader's black cape rippled at his back. "Luke—you can destroy the Emperor. He has foreseen this. It is your destiny." He opened his left hand end held it out to Luke. "Join me, and together we can rule the galaxy as father and son."

His voice is so hypnotic,

Luke thought, and he felt part of him falling under Vader's spell.

Telepathy

Vader installs fear in others:

But the Force, of course, was quite real—and the black tentacles of its dark side had hardened Palpatine and his new pupil, Darth Vader, into evil incarnate. They shared its horrible energies, and used them to fill the minds of their subservient military minions with fear.

He drains knowledge from Luke's mind:

“Give yourself to the dark side, Luke,” he entreated. “It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your thoughts betray you, son. Your feelings for them are strong, especially for—“ Vader stopped. He sensed something.

Luke withdrew further into shadow. He tried to hide, but there was no way to hide what was in his mind—Leia was in pain. Her agony cried to him now, and his spirit cried with her. He tried to shut it out, to shut it up, but the cry was loud, and he couldn't stifle it, couldn't leave it alone, had to cradle it openly, to give it solace. Vader's consciousness invaded that private place. “No!” screamed Luke.

Vader was incredulous. “Sister? Sister!” he bellowed. “Your feelings have now betrayed her, too... Twins!” he roared triumphantly. “Obi-Wan was wise to hide her, but now his failure is complete.”

Alter Environment

Vader summons and controls winds in his duel with Luke on Bespin.

Another large piece of machinery glanced off Luke’s body and crashed out the large window, letting in the screaming wind. Suddenly everything in the room was blown about, and the fierce wind lashed Luke’s body and filled the room with a bansheelike howl. And in the very center of the room, standing still and triumphant, was Darth Vader.

“You are beaten,” the Dark Lord of the Sith gloated. “It is useless to resist. You will join me or you will join Obi-Wan in death!”

As Vader spoke these words, a final piece of heavy machinery soared through the air, striking the young Jedi and knocking him through the broken window. Everything became a great blur as the wind carried him, tossing and rolling, until he managed to grab hold of a beam with one hand. With the wind subsided a bit and his vision cleared, Luke realized that he was hanging from the gantry of the reactor shaft outside the control room.

He didn’t want to believe Vader, tried convincing himself that it was Vader who lied to him—but somehow he could

feel the truth in the Dark Lord’s words. But, if Darth Vader did speak the truth, why, he wondered, had Ben Kenobi lied to him?

Why?

His mind screamed louder than any wind the Dark Lord could ever summon against him.

The answers no longer seemed to matter.

His father.

With the calmness that Ben himself and Yoda, the Jedi Master, had taught him, Luke Skywalker made, perhaps, what might be his final decision of all. “Never,” Luke shouted as he stepped out into the empty abyss beneath him. For all its unperceived depth, Luke might have been falling to another galaxy.

Darth Vader moved to the end of the gantry to watch as Luke tumbled away. A strong wind began to blow, billowing Vader’s black cloak out behind him as he stood looking over the edge.

--Taken from The Empire Strikes Back

They stared at him. He used his good foot to leap across the grate, and hit the lever with his bad ankle, forcing the lever back despite the pain. As he did so, he used all his strength to pull the blasters toward him. A huge wind blew up and yanked them toward him. It sapped him, made him weak. He wondered vaguely if the same thing had happened to Vader when he had made the same move in Cloud City.

Luke had indeed grown powerful since Bespin, and he was an equal match for his father.

Star Wars and Speed: Common Misconceptions.

Okay this is my first blog like this so hopefully it decent. The reason I created this blog is because there is alot of misconception involving the speed of Star Wars EU characters so here is my attempt to counter some of those misconception,Now we shall begin.

Misconception

Blaster bolts

Some overrate them, some underrate them I hear alot of people on the forum say "Ooh all Jedi are light speed because they block laser bolts that are light speed" But that is far from the truth the only Jedi/Sith that are close to light speed are (Luke Skywalker and Palpatine but I will get to that later on in this blog). Blaster bolts are not lasers neither are they anywhere near lightspeed, there are instead plasma particle bolts. That is where there overrated, they are underrated when people say they are much slower then bullets because you can see it moving slowly, and once again, that is false. It was stated in Star Wars:The Official Guides To Weapons and Technology, that the visible the visible light we see are only the tracer, the real destructive beam is invisible and is considerably faster then the tracer. That being said, there is no evidence that a blaster bolt is any slower then a bullet,in fact they may have evidence to support it is actually the other way around seeing as how bullets are obsolete in the Galaxy far, far away. Now that we cleared that up let move on to the next subject.....

"Jedi and Sith reflecting blaster bolts has more to do with Precognition then anything"

This,is false and far from the truth. It does not matter if you can read a blaster bolt before it happens, you need speed to deflect it regardless if you know it's coming or not take this for example:

A slight sideways tilt of his head invited Vastor to look around, which he did. Which was when he saw the full company of black-armored stormtroopers on a ring ledge about three meters above him, all with weapons aimed at his gigantic chest.

"I don't," Luke said. "Not if I can help it. Not anymore." He looked down at Han with a faint start, as though he'd been lost in a daydream and only now realized where they both were. Wearing a faintly bemused half smile, he flipped the DL-44 end-for-end and offered its grip to Han. "Here. You'll need this."

"For what?" Han asked, just as he was starting to realize that the shaft around the

Falcon

had suddenly gone quiet. The stormtroopers had stopped screaming. "Uh oh."

He snatched his pistol out of Luke's hand and popped to his feet as blasters opened up on all sides to rain plasma upon them in a roaring flood. Luke's lightsaber flared to life and lashed out in invisibly fast arcs that sent bolts out and away in a fan, blasting into the rock of the shaft walls. Choking red-black smoke billowed out from the points of impact, shrouding them in gloom so dense that the

Falcon's

exterior floodlights only gave off a yellow-brown glow.

"Stick close." Luke's voice was tight with concentration. "I'm not used to having to cover somebody else."

"Don't have to tell

me

twice." Han squeezed himself into a substantially less-than-Han-sized space at Luke's back and had barely time to wish that he knew a Jedi who was just a

little

taller before the

Falcon

bucked as if it had been kicked. The ship bounced off the shaft wall hard enough that Han had to grab Luke's shoulder to stay upright. "Chewie,

dammit

!"

"Not his fault," Luke said tightly, still carving smoke with his blade to catch stray blaster bolts. "The ship didn't move. The shaft did. The mountain's breaking up."

"Oh,

great

! Any

more

good news?"

"Yes," Luke said. "We're being boarded."

Dark shapes hurtled down at them through the gloom—stormtroopers jumping off the ring ledge. Han snarled something wordless that expressed vividly how he felt about having Imperial boots touch his ship and slipped his blaster over Luke's shoulder, snapping off a pair of double taps that caught two troopers while they were still in the air. The bursts blew them backward far enough that they fell short and tumbled into the shaft below, but dozens made it onto the hull. There were plenty more where they'd come from, and Han had a strong feeling that a stand-up fight against a hundred-some stormtroopers was a losing proposition under the best of circumstances. Which these circumstances weren't.

"Make for the hatch!" Han fired twice more, dropping one dark silhouette and knocking another spinning off the rim of the hull, while Luke fanned away a flood of return fire. "Let's see how these sons of monkey-lizards like open space and hard vacuum!"

"You first," Luke said.

"That's

another

thing you won't have to cell me twice." Red-glowing spheres sailed in through the smoke: thermal detonators. Some bounced away, but four or five maglocked themselves to the hull. "Uh, Luke?"

"I've got them." With his left hand, Luke swung his lightsaber in a dazzling flourish to spray blaster bolts randomly through the smoke, while his right hand stretched out toward the dets. All of them suddenly jerked themselves loose and flipped over the edge of the ship. Multiple detonations bounced the ship off the wall again. "Go, Han! Go

now

!"

Han took three steps, then threw himself into a flat dive that became a belly flop and sent him skidding and scraping over the lip of the hatch. He pulled himself in with his free hand and pivoted around his grip to land on his feet on the deck below. "I'm in! Luke, come on!"

More dets went off and lit the smoke with bloody flame, and there came no sign that Luke had any intention of following him. Han scrambled back up the gangway. "Luke, don't be an idiot!"

"I'm going after Vastor." Luke leaned into the gale of blasterfire as he worked his way toward the ship's edge. "Go. Save Leia! Don't wait for me."

In the quote above Luke deflects blaster bolts from and entire company of Storm Troopers a company = 128 troopers

Company (128 troopers): A company consists of four platoons, led by a captain.

It does not matter if he has precognotion or not, you have to be able to move very fast to react to 120 Storm troopers shooting at you simultaneously.

I could also post several other examples but.........*Yawns* I just got lazy again. I will finish this later when I get some more time, as a wise women once said " I didn't choose the Snorlax life, the Snorlax life choose me" xD peace out folks I hoped you enjoyed reading my meaningless blog =P
