The new Spiderman 0

I didn't read Amazing Spider-man 700, but I did read 699.Good: I do like this new spiderman. Making it otto octavius can make things interesting as Ock doesn't have the morals of peter, but Peter is still there to keep him in check. If peter's still alive-ish I hope the first person to deal with the life force of peter should be found by Doctor Strange.Bad: I think the Superior Spider-man is too similar to Scarlet Spider. (Now that I think of it, I hope they tangle, or I hope Kaine has something...

Keeps amping up 0

It's been a long time since the last time I wrote a review. Batman 16, We are in the thick of Death of the Family, Everyone is at Risk, and no one is seemingly safe.Good: Capullo's art as always is amazing. Joker looks twisted, and Batman looks brooding. I love the rogues gallery, and laughed when horse violence was shown. I like the end as it sets up all what's to come because we will find out the fates of Batgirl, Red Hood, Red Robin, Damian, and hopefully Alfred.Bad: I think the whole Joker/J...

Rebuild, reforge 0

SpoilersSpoilersThe Court of Owls conclusion is finally here! It's a grudge match between Lincoln and Bruce. "Brother vs Brother." Owl vs Bat. Prepare for Spoilers. The Good: The art in this comic is so impeccable. Capullo's ability to master emotion, plot, symbolism, and character continue to amaze me. He draws eyes like no one else. I'm glad last month's revelation of Lincoln being a brother isn't so quickly disproven in this issue. Bruce's conversation with Dick made my eyes water because it's...

Arachnids. 0

Intro: Peter is now in the ultimate universe. He's lost and trying to find answers. Miles is looking for a tutor, a sensei, someone to guide him.The Good: Pichelli's art is fantastic very well drawn faces. Her facial expressions are the best I've seen. I'm liking already how emotional this series could get especially with the nick fury scene. The Bad: I think the story may have to go a little faster since this is a five issue and we are on issue 2. I hope this mini-series will capitalize on the e...

Lost in another Dimension 0

Intro: Peter somehow dimension hops into Mile's universe so now there are 2 spider-menThe Good: The premise although not original has a lot of potential to have ramifications for both Wall Crawlers.Peter will get to see how much of an impact he's had in this universe.Peter will get to meet a Gwen Stacy who is alive and well.Aunt May, MJ, and Gwen will meet an alive and older PeterNick Fury will meet this peter, and will come to face his guiltCaptain America may have to face his guiltThe Bad: I w...

Expectations 0

The Good: Great concept. The idea of fighting Robins isn't new, but the possibility of all of them fighting at the same time is a great idea. The Bad: I was expecting the whole comic to be Robin vs Robin vs Robin. But, there's build up of a character named terminus, who takes up at least 1/3 of the issue. This issue is primarily build up, but that's not a really bad thing. I was disappointed because the comic doesn't really say if the Robins will continue or start fighting. Which they will starti...

Revelations. 0

We are in the tenth issue of this Court of Owls saga that sprung from the genius minds of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo & co. Lots of questions and theories have been posed so far. So many twists. The Good: Finally, more reveals. I felt there hasn't been a huge revelation since they discovered Dick Grayson's true heritage which fascinated me. In this issue we start to see more closure as Bruce hunts down the Court. Fantastic Art by Greg Capullo. The ending is so fitting in a Scott Snyder full...

Planting the greenest seeds 0

Introduction: I know this is really late, but I hate this on my computer so I might as well put it up. I have never read any Swamp Thing comics before the New 52, and probably wouldn't have picked it up. I've heard of all the great Len Wein and Alan Moore stories. I picked this comic up because I had five extra bucks and Scott Snyder's name was on it.The Good: Scott Snyder from the start shows us that in fact Swamp Thing is now in the DCU. I like how he went with starting the story with Alec Hol...

Who is Nobody? 0

The Good: The opening of the story was very intriguing. I love how Tomasi and Gleason pay homage to Batman: Year One by having Bruce in Thomas Wayne's study waiting for an epiphany. Bruce now celebrating his parents life instead of their death is a good concept. The Bad: I don't like Damian's disrespect for his Grandparents and Bruce. The poles were very lame entrance to the batcave. I think Tomasi having Batman now celebrate their life and not their death is iffy, its a great concept, but I don'...

What an Issue! 0

The Good: Manapul's art really captures the flash and what he's all about in the art. The page before the first ad is definitely noteworthy. I like that this Flash is not fully experienced just yet. The villain Mob Rule is definitely something that Barry needs to face they are the perfect villain for him. I love the issue its very vibrant, alive. The ending of this issue really sets up to be what could be Flash's greatest moment. The Bad: Sometimes it felt confusing, especially the "thinking" pan...

Wonder Woman, Warrior of Great Books 0

The Good: I have to say the cover is very representative of what happens in the book. Cliff Chiang has seriously gone to one of my top 5 artists since this relaunch. This issue shows how some of the Amazonians despise Diana, which is something we rarely get. Then Hippolyta's story seems like a geniune Greek Legend, the Panels are like the vases painted to tell them. The ending is great, it closes but then it makes me wonder where will it go next? The Bad: The story about saving the pregnant woman...

Dick Grayson, 2

Spoilers!! there may be couple spoilers, if you feel uncomfortable, skip this review. The Good: It shows a side of Dick's past we haven't seen yet. Dick has several more responsibilities because of he was given the deed to the circus, which creates conflict with Haly's son. I thought someone was going to have mystical powers in this issue which, I don't support, I was so happy that it just turned out to be a gadget. I loved the ending to this book, I did not expect the villain to be who it was.Th...

Mera, sexiest woman of the seas 0

The Good: The new species that come out of the sea really make Aquaman needed. These beings are so vicious so now we need someone who can send them back to their place. I love Ivan Reis' art, there's nothing like it's so clean. I like that Mera is committed to try new things with Aquaman. I love how Aquaman just lives in a lighthouse. Mera's powers are so bad ass.The Bad: While I was talking to the comics shop guy I had my 10 year old cousin look for this book and he couldn't find it, I think if...

Finally, Babs, and Dick. 0

Barbara has to save some people from the terrible fate Mirror Master has put them in, and she hangs out with Dick.Spoiler Alert: Because I feel really strongly about what happens in this issue I have to spoil some of it.The Good: I continue to love the Adam Hughes covers, they really pop out. We finally get to see something that has bothered me for a while, Dick's and Bab's relationship. The book picks up speed right away no time to catch your breath. Adrian Syaf's panel structure is awesome it ...

Babs faces her reflection 0

Barbara returns as Batgirl in issue 2, but it still doesn't reveal much about how she can walk again. The Good: I love the Adam Hughes covers, they are really gorgeous. We get into the past/mind of Mirror Master which makes him somewhat of a sympathetic character. I like the concept of Mirror kind of like a nod to Scott Snyder. This issue finally shows how Barbara is different from the other Batgirls, she has to use different tactics to fight this villain. The scene with the roommate was hilariou...

Up and Running 0

The Good: I love the Adam Hughes cover it's very monumental, I've never seen anything like it before. I love seeing Barbara back as Batgirl, I grew up with the animated series and it felt natural for me. I did not have a problem with the other Batgirls but I also didn't pay much attention to them either. The villain really has an interesting concept. The Bad: I feel like we get thrown at Babs too quickly, it doesn't talk about killing joke it just says I shouldn't be able to walk. I don't like th...

The Scarlet Speedster returns 0

I know this is late but I do want to contribute my thoughts on this book. Before Flashpoint, I had little interest in Barry Allen, I liked Wally a little more but Flashpoint really changed what I thought about Barry. The Good: Barry Allen at his core is the same as before. I like how he's not at experienced at everything he does and it makes him more human. Francis Manapul's art is so awesome, the first page, wow, I have never seen art like that, it is really something to behold. The Flash's previ...

Hail to the King of Atlantis 0

I know this is late but I still want to contribute.I heard that Geoff Johns was going to make Aquaman cool, I was laughing saying yeah right. I bought this issue to see what he means and if he can really make Aquaman awesome. The Good: Right off the bat Geoff Johns has Aquaman deal with all those jokes and jabs, then he gets into the action proving that Aquaman has a place in the DCU, that Aquaman is more than a bubble maker, that he has story and character depth, Ivan Reis' art is great, I love ...

Teen Titans 0

The Good: I like Red Robin's new costume, its cooler compared to his last one, maybe he should of also changed his name. Kid Flash is funny, but he feels different since he's not too close to the original flash. I like how they are distancing Cassie Sandsmark from Wonder Woman. The Bad: I found it weird as well that Tim would have this picture of him and Batman, I wondered who took this picture. I really doubt Bruce really takes time out of the year to take pictures in costume. Tim staying at Lut...

Grant Morrison's Man of Tommorrow! 0

I know this is late but I thought I had already wrote a review, but I guess I was wrong. The Good: Grant Morrison really wanted to bring back Superman as he first appeared in 1938's Action Comics #1, and he did, Superman is brash, he doesn't take the time to think if something should be done another way, he just does it. It really puts the Action back into Action Comics. Here Superman isn't diplomatic, he just does what he thinks is right regardless of what anyone says or wants. I think this has ...

Here comes the new Amazing Scarlet Spider 0

My review only consists of the Age of Ultron and the Scarlet thread stories. While I was reading the Age of Ultron story I felt lost as the characters sort of look the same unless there was a direct light showing their costume or hair color. I felt they blurred it a little too much for my taste. It was so ambiguous it made me wonder what will happen to Spidey and Hawkeye, and where is the rest of the team? The art felt awkward because Hawkeye looked like Spidey for a bit and because it was blurry...

It picks up the pace. 0

Justice League #2 really picks up steam for the series. Justice League #1 felt slow but it was sort of needed, but I thought for being the only New 52 book at that time that will propel the DCU it felt weird because Justice League had only 2 main characters. Here it picks up the steam, Superman hammers down on Batman and Green Lantern. Another hero joins the fray and now it starts to become a team book even though no one is on the same page, Also I liked that Batman and Superman might get a long...

Hmm.. 0

First, I would like to declare I am a new reader to Batwoman, and before this issue I knew nothing about her besides she was Kate Kane, but other than that nothing. I love JH William's art, It really is awesome. The story is really fascinating it draws the reader in. I don't know about some people but for me Kate is too fucking PALE. It really disconnects me from the book, I don't know if I want to get the next book because she is so pale. I mean she's probably the palest person in Gotham next t...

A comedic Justice League? 0

Good:Jim Lee's art is so great, I like many of the new costume designs.Geoff Johns clearly picked Batman because he is the most popular and Green Lantern because he wants people to get to know him.Bad:I love Batman, but I think this issue revolves around Batman and Green Lantern for too long, It's Justice League, they all don't have to be in the same room, but at least have those aliens also encountering Aquaman, Wonder Woman etc..It doesn't feel like a story, it feels like a rung in the ladder,...
