Just checked December 2014, and John outsold Miles then. John took 68th, while Miles took 77th. John was the highest selling black character that month with his OWN title. I consider current Cap a gimmick that is still holding numbers from a relaunch, while GLC is still in the TOP 100 despite aporoaching issue 40. I am guessing Miles took a boost from the "End of the Ultimate Universe" marketing.

You called me out or trying to tear down John Stewart or saying he was selling ioff the Green Lantern name but seeing as how there hasn't been a month where Green Lantern Corps outsold "All-New Captain America" which is Falcon's book, Stewart being the highest selling black character is LITERALLY a lie.

He is the highest selling Black Character among the option and with his OWN title, which is a feat cinsidering his title is numbered at 39, not 3. Storm, a well known X-man in a brand known for strong women, is at cancellation numbers before even reaching double digits. And Miles has seen FAR more attrition in sales numbers.

@grenadeflow: Nice try, he has held the book since issue 21, and it is currently on 39. It outsells Red Lanterns, which starred his former co-star. And even though it got a new creative team, it didn't get the advantage if a renumbering, like Miles did with the SAME creative team, LOL. I think the numbers still show John is the most bankable character on this list.

eh not really Black Panther's solo's generally last longer than John's and Miles is selling better now. Does John even have an ongoing that lasted longer than Steel's 90's ongoing?

The last time John had a solo before now was Mosaic, which was only cancelled due to DC editorial wanting to bring on Kyle Rayner. It also sold very high numbers, as indicated in it's wikipedia page. Also, why are we talking about comics from 20-30 years ago? Steel fell harder in popularity than Spawn and Storm. And Black Panther is the only character here who can give John a run for the money, but I don't think.he has the same cultural awareness outside if comics yet. Also, he doesn't have his own book right now, so...

@havenless: And what about the months before January? He has outsold Miles several times, as you can see. I missed last month, so I guess I must be a liar. *eye roll

http://www.diamondcomics.com/Home/1/1/3/237?articleID=153443

August: Miles is 59, John is 76

http://www.diamondcomics.com/Home/1/1/3/237?articleID=152371

July: Miles is 78, John is 93

http://www.diamondcomics.com/Home/1/1/3/237?articleID=149933

May: Miles 36, John 78

April: Miles 43, John 85

So in 5 of the last 10 months, Miles outsold John.

John outsells every other character on this list who has a solo month after month--by a wide margin

He has outsold Miles several times

I missed last month, so I guess I must be a liar

month after month--by a wide margin

I would agree with your initial assessment, but then that would make me the liar, now wouldn't it?

You take me for a fool? The ONLY months Miles outsold John were right after his title relaunched. John proceeded to outsell him soon afterward, and Miles has been bleeding numbers extremely quickly. John didn't need a renumbering to keep his sales afloat. Prior to the relaunch, Miles was not even selling in the Top 100. Keep cherry picking months though.

I think the part you're leaving out is that the name "Green Lantern" is selling books..not John Stewart. Captain America is selling more than Green Lantern with Falcon taking up the mantle but had the book been called "That Falcon" instead of "All-New Captain America" it would be limping to the barn like Storm.

Lol, his book is titled Green Lantern Corps and outsells other Lantern titles, also by a wide margin. Unlike Falcon, he didn't take over someone else's book and has always had his mantle. He IS the highest selling black character and sells great numbers, but you can keep ignoring it and trying to tear him down, like crabs in buckets try to do. Happy black history month, and happy John Stewart month. America. :-P

@street_level_hero: yea I agree it's no way John Stewart won that over storm on this site but whatever.

As vocal as Storm fans are on this site, they're still a minority. John Stewart is more popular with general comic readers. Hence, why Storm's title has been in cancellation danger while Stewart's is one of DC's bestselling titles.
