Enough With The Twitter References... 0

Cover: They've hired the best talent to ensure this series gets the best eye candy up front and hopefully help pick up sales.  I am a big fan of this cover, as I have been of all of them, to be honest. The Good: The story was simple, but it worked.  It flowed nicely and it was actually pretty cool to see her fight someone she couldn't (at first glance) well handle, but she pulls it off nicely.  The art in this issue was also consistent and that is something that's at least a definite bonus comp...

Thank You! 0

Cover: Classic and pretty funny.  I love the way the colors are presented and though everyone is just standing there, their poses give this aura of great friendship. The Good: The dialogue is awesome, the art is stupendously beautiful; there are pretty funny moments in here and this story is a definite improvement over the last issue.  The Cooper story occurring parallel should make for some interesting stuff in the future if it's handled correctly, so that's something that I'm definitely looki...

Crazy!!! 0

Cover: When I saw this in the last page of GH #5, I wasn't sure what it meant.  It's different and new, and now that I have read this issue, it is extremely applicable.  Very cool! The Good: A baby!  The mutant powers are coming from a freaking baby?!  How cool is that?  How in the world would the X-Men in Utopia be able to handle a baby, and how powerful would this entity become if he/she is able to manifest its powers this early on.  I really like the fact that it obviously illustrates that t...

They're Growing Up So Fast... 0

Cover: Straight up and to the point, but not very compelling.  Not that all covers have to be; this one is better than the last few I have seen from this series, but this one isn't visually stunning, either. The Good: The story, as convoluted and as unbelievable as it seems, wasn't that poorly handled.  The art was decent enough to get the point across as well, so that was certainly a nice bonus. I also found it sort of amusing that all they did was add a mustache on Striker to make him look li...

Please Get Better...? 1

Cover:   Not a big fan of this.  Skaar looks terrible and Kazaar looks like a Street Fighter toy.  Oh well. The Good: The underlying tone of the series is pretty cool.  I like the characterization of Skaar and Ka-Zar's representation in this is not bad.  Moon Boy is a pretty cool character that I would love to learn more about.  Besides that, there isn't much else that I can say was any better.  I was ok with the first issue, and figured that it would go in a pretty decent direction since the s...

Okay... 0

Cover: Frankly, though they are just posing, art wise this is the best cover this series has seen, which is refreshing.  I wasn't too much of a fan of the previous ones.  They made all the characters look disproportionate. The Good:   It's pretty cool to see what Jubilee can do, and the dialogue in this series, including this issue, has been solid.  Immonen really knows these characters and all of their interactions come across naturally.  Even Rockslide and Frost are depicted well here, and th...

Not Bad 1

Cover:   Completely inconsequential and unrelated.  As other reviewers have pointed out, there's no relevance because Rhodes is absent from the issue altogetherThe Good: It's different.  I don't know if this has been done before, but it doesn't work that bad here.  It definitely gives us more insight into what Palmer Addley is all about, and the investigation type setting fits.  The dialogue, as few as there is in this issue, still feels like some of the most real interactions between people I...

Dangerous Things Shouldn't Be Locked Away... 7

Cover: What color is the title going to be this week? Oh, awesome, it's orange.  Seriously, though, I love that fact about these covers, they change the color of the title quite a bit to fit the mood of the issue.  The rest of this cover, unfortunately, does not impress me, though it is applicable.  The Good: The sense that these characters are in real danger is a very big bonus.  The dialect is poignant and very potent, it holds true and carries the storyline very smoothly.  Even Deadpool's j...

Beautiful! 2

Cover: Not much going on here, and very misleading.  Can't say I like it very much, though the DNA touches are pretty cool (though wrong...) The Good: There is so much good going on in this issue.  The art is some of the best I've seen yet in this run, and it is some of the best I have seen in Marvel comics, period.  We also have to give credit to the writers; they set up a very nice pace and a couple of very cool confrontations.  This is mostly a fight packed issue, and that works very well...

Bendis, What Are You Doing? 0

Cover:   Deodato's art is beautiful, and I really like how Thing is drawn here. The Good: The portions with Deodato's art are visually stunning, and the storyline happening in the present is extremely interesting.  Besides this, there's not much else that's actually good that can be described about this issue. The Bad: The portions of art by Howard Chaykin are not awful, but they're not particularly appealing either.  Most of the faces look weird, and it's just not good.  The worst, howeve...

War Machine 2.0 4

Cover: Very fitting considering what happened last issue.  It wasn't until I picked it up today that I noticed the backdrop too, very cool. The Good: I like how Spencer took two issues to ease in a new direction for War Machine.  It doesn't really seem forced, so it works here.  Pepper in this issue rocks all kinds of coolness, and I love how Spencer really gets how Rhodey and Tony talk to each other.  We know they're friends, but the dialogue here shows us that they're also brothers at heart. ...

As Expected. 1

Cover: Not really one of my favorites.  It's not that it's altogether bad, since it is sort of fitting, it's just not very appealing. The Good: The fight scenes were pretty cool, and the art, even though it's divided among five to six different artists, flows smoothly from panel to panel.  Had I not seen the title page crediting different artists, I wouldn't really be able to tell the difference and for me that's certainly a bonus considering I'm not usually a fan of when comics have different ...

Another Superb Issue! 1

Cover: These issues are going to look great collected altogether and set nicely side by side.  That, my dear sirs and ladies, is the way I love it.  Great looking cover! The Good:  There is so much good here.  The art in this issue, as it has been in the previous issues, top notch, and if it takes longer for us to get this kind of art delivered, then by all means, take as long as you need to.  It's absolutely mind-boggling the level of complexity and the overall beauty.  I cannot truly describe...

Unreal! 3

Cover:   I'm just gonna say that the variety in colors is what makes these covers so freaking cool.  I don't think I will ever dislike an Uncanny X-Force cover.   The Good: The fighting is awesome; the action never stops.  The altercation between two of the X-Force members is also very cool, and what somewhat things left unanswered previous issues.  It does, however, lay another seed for possible story lines in the future, which is something Remender has been doing throughout this series,...

Fantastic Spider-Man 3

Cover:   This is one of my favorites cover of all time.  Even though it seems simple, the way Spidey is drawn here in just downright awesome.  No complaints from me, Mr. Djurdjevic's art continues to amaze me.The Good: The way that Slott writes the current status of the Cooper-Parker relationship is great; it has a lot of potential and it makes you wonder what will happen next in their relationship.  It's also extremely cool to see two geniuses (Reed and Parker) working together to do stuff.  ...

This Is What Chaos War Lacked... 2

Cover: Applicable and enticing.  Great color selection and I like the background choice as it gives you an idea of what this series has in store for Herc. The Good: The art is astounding and the story is equally amazing; as many other reviewers have pointed out, the great depiction of all the weapons Hercules has with him and the way that he uses them is quite a fun read.  I enjoy the pacing, too, and it does lay a very strong (no pun intended) foundation for future things to come.  This is als...

Ready For The Next Arc 0

Cover: Not a fan of this art style, sorry to be so frank, but I really don't like it.  I like the color selection for the title, as I usually like when series change their coloration on the covers. The Good: It's very reminiscent of Inception, and as other reviewers mentioned, that's pretty much the only bonus.  The zombified monster in the midst of the issue is pretty cool too, but these are sadly the only two things that I can think of that are even worth mentioning. The Bad: The art is ...

What The Hell Happened? 0

Cover: Not the best in the series, but not the worst.  Nice backdrop of puppet master there and nice use of colors.  Pretty fitting to the interior content, just wish we could've seen Punisher in the cover. The Good: Resolution is always good, and while not all the questions are answered here, it certainly gives us some light on some of the material in previous issues.  I like that now that this is finally over, we can move on to another arc that's hopefully better and that actually needed t...

Decent! 0

Cover: Main reason I bought this issue.  I was fearful that the interior art would look nothing like the cover, and while it doesn't, it's not a bad thing.  Really dig the way that Michael Komarck drew this piece.   The Good: I wasn't even aware this was coming out, but it only makes sense after his separation from his father in Incredible Hulks, and I couldn't be more pleased.  Regardless of what many may think, I feel that Skaar can make an interesting character with the right writers an...

Worth The Wait!? 0

Cover: These colors!! I think that will be the phrase that I repeat most throughout this review. They are absolutely beautiful.  This defines what eye candy should be.  Awesome cover! The Good: The art, the colors, the story, the art and the colors.  No, really, the way that some of the background stuff is depicted is some of the most beautiful art that I have seen in a comic in a long time and to think that this title is done in its entirety by one person is just incredible.  Having old ch...

That's What I'm Talking About! 0

Cover:   Laura is a little busty, but I guess that's just artist interpretation.  The cover is splendid though and very succinctly to the point! (No pun intended).  The Good:   The art is finally where it should have been all along.  Mr. Stegman needs to be a part of a lot more series, his pencils here are absolutely great and it makes the battles in this issue a very nice read.  The scene between Tyger and the newcomers is well put together; I like that she was able to cover her ass and still...

Improvement, We See. 0

Cover:   It's Jae Lee and June Chung, what can I say?  I really dig their art.  I just wish we'd get to see more of Lee's art in the interiors, as it doesn't do it justice when you have a great cover and not so good art otherwise.  The Good:   These demons are, quite frankly, not kidding around.  You could say that I'm actually enjoying this arc a hell of a lot better (no pun intended) than the last story arc, though this arc wouldn't be possible without the former.  Seeing the physical Logan,...

The Best Of The Series So Far... 2

Cover:   I can't say that I care much for this art style.  For one, I'm not able to tell the difference between Kenji and Teon.   The Good:   All the characters, simply put.  The way that they are depicted in this comic is superb.  When Logan, or Charles, or Erik talks, it's them, there's no real other way to describe them.  In other words, Mr. Gillen really, really get these characters.  We can ever extend that thinking to Hope and her new lights and say that their characterizations, currentl...

New Artist... Please 0

Cover:   Always pretty cool.  I really liked the last cover of this series and I'm glad it's the same style.  There's something about women feuding in mid air that is just awesome.  The Good:   The flow of this story, even though there's a lot, and I mean, a lot  of talking, is much better than previous tales.  I'm wondering who this new character is introduced mid issue is and I am also really interested in what's ahead for Spider-Girl.   The shining portion of this issue is definitely the st...

Outstanding Story, Too Many Artists... 1

Cover:    To the point and very fitting.  It's a remembrance issue, dedicated to Johnny Storm.  The colors are nice and very fitting as well.  It just has this very nostalgic feel to it, so it's definitely an awesome cover.  The Good:   Pretty much the whole issue is full of great moments.  The first panel is very nostalgic and pretty neat.  I found it a nice touch of them sitting around telling tales they remember with Johnny.  It certainly highlights the great relationships each member of th...

Flat! 0

Cover:   These all look great... a definite collectors items for those that like pretty consistent pretty things.  It is certainly a beauty if laid out on a table..  The Good:   What I will mention here in this section is what made the book both work and not work at the same time: in particular, the way the story's resolution was handled.  But before I explain that in greater detail, let me say this.  This series' characterization of the 5 individuals has been spot on, and we get to see an ev...

Predictable But Satisfying End! 0

Cover:    These covers continue to amaze me.  I really dig when I collect a series and that if I were to lay them all out over a table, they'd make a really outstanding sight.  I got that from this entire series; I'd be really happy to just show off the art on these covers.  The Good:     For a conclusive issue, it certainly has the momentum and pace to where you really want to continue reading.  I thought the family and daddy issues, normally pretty clichéd, were handled pretty believable and...

In Search of the Mask 0

Cover:   I hate it when it seems like the cover artist never even looked at the interior of the comic before designing the cover.  I know they often just get told to draw this or that, but I really dislike when covers have absolutely nothing to do with the interior.  The Good:   Jennie Royce is a pretty interesting character, and what is in store for me (in light of certain revelations) is something I'm pretty interested in.  I do like Danny Rand, and in here, his characterization isn't bad.  In...

Not Bad. 0

Cover:  A definite improvement over the last cover, but still not much better.  I do like the spectrum of reddish hues (we saw those colors too in the last cover), but I still prefer the first issue's cover over these latter two.  The Good:  The mystery behind this all is keeping me interested.  The art is equally stunning as it has been in previous issues.  The dialogue, especially Wolverine, is very believable (as in, it's pretty much dead on character), and I do like the fact that Rockslide i...

Batwomen! 0

Cover:  Angles.  And more angles.  Actually, all kidding aside, it's a very cool looking cover.  I really dig how it portrays Batwoman at the top and Wayne down below, and the angular (if you couldn't tell) approach taken.  The Good:  For maybe the second time this series I am able to understand an issue.  This one relates to the last issue a great deal, but it's also a terrific stand-alone issue.  What I mean is that it gives you a beginning, a great retrospect of old characters and then redefi...

Wow. Just wow! 0

Cover:   As I've mentioned in very many reviews, specifically for this series, the color choices, particularly in the logo and backdrops, continues to be one of my favorite aspects of the variety it presents to the covers.  If I lay them all out on a desk, they'd make for some awesome covers with astounding colors throughout.  Colors have varied more in this arc, however, so consistency is great.  The Good:  Where do I begin?  Last issue did not really do it for me.  It wasn't an altogether terr...

Superb! 1

Cover:  Really digging the cover in this one, for some reason.  It certainly illustrates the main point of the series.  I'm not fond of Batman's face, but the Penguin backdrop is awesome.   The Good:  There is a lot of good stuff here, I could write a long, long review, but I'll keep it short.  I enjoyed the pacing, the dialogue, the art altogether with great color variety; I even like how Bruce reacts to the whole situation with Golden.   I enjoy the way Finch depicts three classic members of B...

Love It! 1

Cover:   Though simple, it is the main reason I looked at this in the first place.  To the point, great colors and the depiction of the Grey sisters is awesome.  The Good:   I thought I'd never like this about a comic, but being thrown right into the story without background really, really works here.  I enjoyed not needing any background, how it slowly fleshes out and allows the reader to figure it out on their own without having to be spoon fed the premise.  I also love the poetic storytelli...

A Great Samurai Tale 0

Cover:  Pretty simple cover.  I am still a bit confused about these covers, however.  When I walked the aisles of my local CBS, I thought I saw the more colorful covers, but neither of them say variant edition, so at this point, I'm unsure which is the main cover and which is the alternate.  Regardless, they are both really cool.  As far as collecting goes, it would look better if one was to collect the issues with the white covers that have the names of the five different ronin represented in t...

Oh Wow! 0

Cover:    Great cover.  I really like the colors.  My only complaint is that Thor looks a little feminine.  But it's a really good cover.  The Good:   The art, the colors (there's a lot of pink due to Korvac's presence, but it actually makes the pages stand out.), the action.  Some of the panels where Korvac is fighting the heroes are awesome, and it gives you this feeling that you are actually watching a pretty epic battle.  I am a huge fan of those!  Also, we left off with the teaser that Jane...

Finale! 4

Cover:  A little bland in comparison to previous covers, but not all that bad.  It showcases the fact that Loki is a shapeshifter, which also relates to the interior content.  The Good:   The colors and art were really good, as was the characterization of most Asgardians.  There's unfortunately not very much else that was done properly with this issue.  The ending was typical but pleasing, I guess, but see below for more comments on what I didn't particularly care for in the ending.  The Bad:  T...

Intriguing... 0

Cover:   Very cool colors and tone; I also like how it's somewhat related to the interior as well; it's always nice when there's at least some sort of correlation that you can look back on in years to come and remember what happened within the issue. The Good: I like the mysterious villain.  I don't want to give too much away, so I'll simply say this: the way that they present this adversary is intriguing and certainly one of the definite pluses of this series so far.  It makes you wish you didn...

A Massacre 0

Cover:    I'm not a big fan of this cover.  I like that it's a new suit, but looking at future issues and their previewed covers (especially the FF crossover stuff that will, I believe, come in at AMS #658-659 with Caselli), this leaves much to be desired.  The Good:    Even though Peter Parker has a great job, it's still very touching to see how vulnerable Spider-Man is after the repercussions of his combat with Smythe.  We see this early on in the issue, and it leads much later as the reasoni...

Great Issue! 0

Cover:     I must say that one of my favorite stuff about this series is the versatility of colors and stances that one finds in all the covers.  I really dig this particular one, even more so than any of the previous ones, which have also been great.  The Good:   This issue has some of the coolest action I have seen in a while.  Hell, this entire series is action packed, with great storytelling and awesome art to back it up.  It also helps that we continue to see the same chemistry of this ...

Arc Conclusion!? 0

Cover:   Not a big fan of the cover.  I take it that it's supposed to be a "pirate" version of Gambit and X-23, but it's just not doing it for me.  What I do like is how the X-23 is colored yellow.  I've always been a fan of when they change the color of the titles throughout the series, makes the issues look really colorful.  The Good:    As other reviewers have mentioned, as well as friends of mine, the art was extremely well used here.  For me, it took a little getting used to but it's a de...
