The Emerald Elite A superhuman without compare, the wielder of the Null Force, defender of this dimension...his power is staggering! His secret origin will shock you to the core! His adventures will be beyond your wildest imagination!
A Corps of Interplanetary Defenders reached back in time to construct itself in the past, guaranteeing the safety of the future - a paracausal force for perpetual justice that extended its influence into the arrangement of atoms to bring about the existence of an array of champions, born and raised without their knowledge to inherit mystic Terminals which would enable them to manipulate null energies, a secret Seventh Force to reality that goes beyond the wildest dreams of Earth's most outrageous thinkers.
Boorman became a pilot for the sentient weapon that is the Null Band, a ring of immense power which has woven itself into his very soulstuff - a tool that binds itself to its user on a truly metaphysical level, an interface to the secrets of the universe. Equal parts arcane computer and fantastical self-defense weapon, the Null Band is miracle technology from beyond the 52nd Millennium - deposited in the past to ensure its own creation later in the timestream. It can only be activated by him, and if he dies, so too does it. They form a symbiotic relationship that has transformed both forever.
As part of Emerald Elite protocol, the Null Men do not protect their own home universes. Rather, to guarantee impartial dispensation of justice, and to reduce the incentive for Null Men to abuse their power, Jade Agents are deployed to parallel timelines where they are completely unattached to the histories and events which transpire therein. This outsider perspective forms a check on their willingness to subvert their oaths and take advantage of the Null Band's abilities.
DJ Boorman is highly experienced field agent, courageous and clever in the face of danger and willing to do whatever it takes to uphold his mission of protecting his assigned universe. But this latest one may prove his greatest - and most perilous - challenge yet!
The Null Band What may appear at first blush to be a simple green ring is in fact an immensely powerful Null Band, a sentient 7-Dimensional computer interface that uses Boorman's consciousness as an input / anchor, effectively keeping it latched to our reality. As the host for the Null Band, Boorman can communicate freely with it, consulting it for information on any object it detects with its potent sensory apparatus. Its passive scan ability is such that it will pick up on high-velocity objects and identify them, but ignore most mundane elements of Boorman's environment - otherwise, the constant information feedback could fry his brain.
When active, the Null Band emits a luminous green light, the intensity of which corresponds directly to the intensity of the task the Null Band is attempting. The exotic Null Energies it manipulates render it capable of fighting off metaphysical and material tampering, possessing a mind on par with a higher-dimensional supercomputer. The limitations of the material plane constrain its ability, and it requires a user to properly exist at all - an extension of normal humans' unique perspective on the world, in which their conscious perception stabilizes higher-reality. Waves of natural immanent forces can thus be transformed and shaped to the will of the host being, allowing for the creation of elaborate constructions and a variety of potent effects.
The Null Band is a multiversal omni-tool designed to harness energy to help its user survive and thrive in any scenario. A true miracle engine, it is capable of enacting an untold variety of effects on the wielder's surroundings. The Null Band can project holograms, emulate and direct particular soundwaves in order to reproduce distinct sounds, translate new languages it comes into contact with, and envelop its user in a powerful null field which mitigates environmental hazard and permits navigation even in zero-g environments. A matter-compressor can temporarily reduce the size of objects in its field of range. The Null Band continually monitors its user's welfare and can use its energies to stimulate healing in order to fight disease or reconstruct damaged tissue. Finally, and perhaps most significantly, it can emit a form of hard light which is then shaped by the user's imagination so as to create whatever tool they require, at any scale.
The Null Band was conceived of as a non-lethal device suited for exploration and peaceful contact with both ancient artifacts and new civilizations. As such, a variety of features exist to circumvent its abuse. The Null Band cannot be used for lethal actions; to engage combat mode, it requires that the user be acting either in defense of self, or in defense of others - never for unprovoked violence or abuse. Even when engaged, its combat capabilities are highly limited. Energy discharges were deemed unstable enough to the fabric of the universe that High Command issued an injunction against outright blasting.
For that reason, most users of Null Bands don't use them in battle, preferring to work from the shadows. This was tradition -
- until a human was chosen to wield one of the weapons.
DJ decided to circumvent the nonviolence mode of the Null Band by summoning "tools" such as giant hands, hammers, automobiles, and chainsaws to torment his foes with. Every time an improvised construct is used for combat, it is logged as a weapon instead, forcing Boorman to come up with a new tool every time, unless self-defense mode has engaged on the weapon, which only occurs in the event of significant threat to either the wielders' life, or that of an innocent.
