Biography:
Nubus was a craftsman of egypt, not a particularly special one, but he was good at his job, and for him his life was relatively normal for a person of his time and place. And then a simple thing happened to the simple man, a brick, fallen from one of the buildings as they were making it, crashed down towards him slamming into his head. Everything went bright for him, and all he heard was the ringing in his ears. People were crowding around him, blood pouring from a crack in his head, and then he heard something that would forever change his life. The voice reffered to itself as Taktet, he told Nubus that he was dying, but that if he would accept it, Taktet would grant him gifts over the sands and the wind, a bestowal of power from a god. In return, he would be the guardian of his temple, hidden in the Great Sand Sea. He would be immortal and powerful, though must not compare himself to any god, and must never reveal from whom the power was received without permission. Nubus accepted, when he came too he found himself within the desert, greeted by the temples priests who explained to him all that they knew, and all he was given. It seemed this Taktek was an unorthodox god, forgotten, or hidden rather, by the others. A brother to Horus and Seth, but his powers were not strong enough to overweigh the reasons they wanted to hide him. Taktek was chaotic, he would mock the other gods to their faces, stole from them, even attempted to kill them. This would not be tolerated, but they found, it was not possible to kill him. Whatever damage they could do, the very existence of the dessert and the air seemed to keep him alive, so rather they sealed him away. He only managed to peek out with his powers, to a few select priests who created his temple, and to Nubus who became the guardian of it. He wanted them to find a way to unseal them, hiding them from the sight of the other gods. What Taktek did not foresee however, was their betrayal. The priests sought Taktek's power for themselves, finding it could be sealed to artifacts, and Nubus learned of this. At first, he sought to unravel their plot, but they made him reconsider. They warned him that Taktek had been sealed away for a reason, and that were he to return, Nubus would be in no better of a situation, rather, Taktek would take his power back from Nubus, letting him die again. He agreed to it, however, being no priest himself he was unable to actually assist in their work. But the more he thought about it, the more Nubus wondered why he couldn't just take whatever they had once they were done. And that's exactly what he did, Nubus stole the artifacts they made, but before he could try and get them to make more, they vanished away escaping the temple. Since then Nubus has kept it as a side goal of his to find them, he knew there was a chance priests who had knowledge of how they sealed away Taktet probably knew how to siphon off his power which meant at least one of them might still be alive. For this reason he continues to search for them and the artifacts they may have created in order to steal them for himself.
TBA:
Gauntlets
Talismans.
Powers/abilities:
All of Nubus's actual powers were granted him by an Egyptian god of the sands.
The master guardian:
Though before becoming guardian of the temple Nubus was a craftsman, that trade was mostly forgotten, though he retained some skill with creating all kinds of things. In it's place however, Nubus learned the art of protecting the tomb. Oddly enough, this skill revolves around avoiding damaging certain things, and either taking a capturing focus or a highly destructive focus of the enemy. Although he is able to apply his knowledge to other weapons, the weapons that Nubus primarily used was a rather massive bow, a mace, and a spear. His training was rather extensive in these weapons and while individual motions were not always suggestive to his strategic goals, they would almost always end up following a pattern based upon the environment. Unarmed Nubus did not rely on his vast strength, in fact Nubus trained in a variety of ways ranging from beings of equivalent size, smaller, and to much much larger beasts, something that he did to a lesser extent with weapons. Along with this came the necessity for leading an army, at the time of his creation, the other guardians of the temple were not the sand army Nubus would come to command but rather an elite force who were given enchanted weapons. Nubus had to learn how to communicate a force defensively, or in quick offensive motions. Nubus presumed this would be in order to damage a force before they could actually attack, making defending the temple far easier.
Talisman of the watcher:
Unfortunately for Nubus, this talisman is partially broken and unfinished without it's other pieces. It is not broken in the sense the item itself is broken, rather the inscriptions were not strong enough to properly contain the power of Taktet's. This is however represented upon the ring as a crack down a little over a third of it's side. This talisman is in the shape of a ring, something that Nubus wears on his finger. Although broken, the Talisman allows him to create a sort of bird that he can move at will which can only be seen by those who can view magic. If one were to see it, it would only appear as a glowing shape of sorts. It allows Nubus literally a birds eye view of anywhere he moves the bird. This "bird" is able to perceive almost anything ranging from simple sight like any other bird to even as complex as demons or beings only shifting into the realm just enough to see. It has a few drawbacks, requiring attention to keep the bird actually existing, else it will disperse and return to the ring. It can be tracked to the ring by someone skilled enough with the right knowledge. And unlike it's original purpose it cannot grant oversight of entire desserts and skies without sign of it's presence. Although it can be broken physically, this would take great strength, it is also almost entirely resistant to cutting.
Talisman of the traveler:
This talisman is actually a necklace, one that hides easily under his clothes. It's design is an odd golden piece on the end of a chain necklace. This, like many other things of Taktets, is extremely durable and hard to break. It gives it's wearer the ability to speak and understand any language with ease. It also helps them understand it on their own even if it were to be removed the more they use that language.
Sand manipulation: Sand will move at his beck and call, reaching astonishing speed, rushing in one direction or another, aiding his movements, obstructing view, creating a sandstorm, or even rushing against each other so fast they create enough heat to turn it to glass. This ability can be massive such as the sandstorm, or incredibly meticulous, such as creating a weapon or a body he can control from it. This ability gives him a keen awareness of sand as well, which means he can, in a way, use it to have a double of himself across the world by focusing on its sand and creating one. This ability has unusual amounts of strength to it and is hard to overcome as it is beyond merely mutation or some experiment, given to him by an Egyptian god.
Wind manipulation: To a similair extent Nubus can manipulate the air and wind, hurricanes (with a bit of difficulty and time), the weather, sucking air towards him or blowing it away, usually this is coupled with sand manipulation. Most often this ability is used to grant him considerable momentum. This ability also permits him to create blades of wind, causing them to cut by directing to blasts of wind to hit in the same place.
Light of a god: Nubus holds within him a light that prevents manipulation of his mind and senses as well as grants him the ability to see both the physical and ethereal planes for a much greater distance permitting him a form of considerable supervision. This ability can be opened, creating a sort of gateway of sight if one is not blinded by it.
Body of a sand immortal:
Especially when transformed, Nubus possesses considerably superior physicals to humans. He can move faster, punch harder, and endure far more. Even as a human form, Nubus has a considerable amount of these abilities. He can send himself flying over a ten story building, send cars flying, and can move and perceive at astonishing speeds allowing him to move much faster then a regular person could perceive. As far as how much he can handle, it greatly depends on the situation, Nubus can in fact be cut by a kitchen knife with some effort, but he can take blunt impacts exceptionally well. Both in human and transformed, Nubus is actually made out of a sort of mystical sand which is able to transform into a certain appearance with certain traits. When he bleeds as a human, which requires getting through the thicker skin, Nubus actually will bleed melted sand. Due to his body being made of sand which simply takes on the form of what it needs to, such as human flesh if it isn't damaged, he does not actually require any form of sustenance to keep himself alive meaning he is also immune to any form of toxin, strangling, and various biological weapons that would otherwise cause harm to a living being. Nubus has a specific form of regeneration which relies on sand, in other-words, as long as sand is present, he can heal from any wound by simply replacing it with it, however without it, Nubus would have to reduce his size in order to fill in any holes or missing pieces, which can take some time and reduces his abilities.
When Nubus transforms,
he increases his height to 8'5" and takes on a form alike to a humanoid bird of some kind, sometimes with wings, sometimes without them. In either case, this is a relatively quick process, which usually appears as if sand suddenly formed out of nowhere surrounding him until the form is complete. When like this, Nubus gains an armor around him which often has the appearance of gold but is far more akin to vibranium without it's ability to absorb vibrations as well. This armor rarely covers his entire body, but even so, while like this Nubus's body is able to more quickly reform using any nearby sand unless the limb is completely severed, in which that limb loses it's connection to Nubus momentarily and falls to pieces like any other sand. Unlike when he's in human form, Nubus cannot bleed, he appears almost entirely as a creature made of sand that is simply extremely resistant to damage. As transformed, Nubus can throw punches or swing his staff with enough force that they'd split several feet of titanium-steel and often enough halt other beings with superhuman strength. Along with this, he gains a considerably superior speed, able to perceive and dodge or deflect most firearms with relative ease.
Scepter of Taktet/Nubus:
Among the artifacts sealed with Taktet's powers was a scepter of sorts, this scepter possessed a variety of applications to it. The scepter can be summoned by Nubus at any time, it was designed to recognize only him as it's wielder and will transport itself according to his desire. The scepter is functionally indestructible, existing in a sort of constant state of existence, like whom it's power is made off of, the scepter will exist as long as the sands and the skies exist. While it would appear to be made of gold, especially if one were to feel howe heavy it is, it's sharpness would suggest otherwise if it weren't already a weapon made of ones power. It grants the Army of Taktet, a form of teleportation, and the shield of deception.
The army of Nubus:
Although he can command his army at any time, Nubus can only create any while transformed and using the staff. He is able to use sand to create an army of soldiers with considerable skill and the strength of gorilla's. The main problem with these armies is they cannot remain away from a source of sand without Nubus constantly assisting them, and while outside of a source of sand can be broken apart by merely a bullet hitting their head or several in the torso and won't regenerate. While around sand, they can regenerate far faster and attacks are more likely to become lodged into them rather then split through them. This army is not actually a personal power of his, rather it is one of the powers of the staff like weapon he wields, the Scepter of TakTet. He could bring in sand, however this can be a bothersome work, and Nubus really doesn't like having to move so much sand most of the time.
Teleportation:
Using the staff, Nubus is able to teleport anything within a decided vicinity to almost any location he desires with only one requirement, there must be either sand or air. This is not something that can be quickly repeated making it only occasionally usable in combat. But it does make for a rather glorious exit strategy.
Shield of deception:
Permits Nubus to create a large shield in which he can decide what is seen and what is not. This ability reaches among a few aspects, sight, sound, heat, and smell. The more senses he makes imperceptible the more difficult it is to keep it up. Nubus can technically have more then one of these being used at once, but in order to do this he must have one of them within a desert and it will not have as many senses it can hide as well, though it will dim them. The shield can either hide what is in it of his choosing, even from others who walk inside it looking around would not see what he wants to hide, or he may hide anything new as well as anyone he didn't consciously put effort to who will then be able to perceive it all once inside.
Gauntlets of the sky:
Gauntlets with the appearance of gold with various designs upon them. These are one of the two powerful artifacts that Nubus carries on him. The Gauntlets, like the scepter, are existent upon the very existence of the skies themselves, not just earths sky, any sky. Making them functionally indestructible. Unlike the scepter the gauntlets have a very specific set of aspects to them which primarily host in combat.
Concussive force: When the gauntlets hit anything with considerable impact, they create an explosive like shockwave against it, something that the body of the wielder becomes temporarily immune to. This force is always with twice as much force as what hit it, in other words it has enough to neutralize then fully reverse the direction of something that hit it, or triple the power behind someone using them offensively. The blast does have a large radius which makes them dangerous to use among allies, but excellent weapons to slam against each other in the middle of an enemy army.
Flight: Although less useful to Nubus. The Gauntlets permit it's use to gain the power of flight, sending them soaring through the sky almost four times as fast as sound if left uninterrupted for long enough. This flight has another fortunate convenience, it has no limit of strength, using this Nubus could theoretically move any object no matter it's weight as long as he himself can stand the pressure he's exerting on it.
Environmental survival: Another aspect only somewhat useful to Nubus. In order to survive the places the gauntlet can take someone it grants them temporary adaptation to the weather, be it the speeds of the winds, the cold, the oxygen they need in high places, even lightning. Or, should they reach such heights, the atmosphere. It is important to note this does not work on smaller human made things, it would not protect one from electric shock unless there's a storm going on, nor from burning unless it's the environment that's hot.
The winds speak: The gauntlets give the wearer an enhanced awareness of all sounds and movements of the air. As well as, if focused on, permit them to perceive with excellent vision a place of their choosing.
Important notes:
When transformed, Nubus does not feel any physical pain whatsoever. When in human form he is able to feel pain, but it is greatly decreased and even the worst injuries can be tolerated.
