Personally I like the new Nightcrawler and I also like Fantomex. Certainly more than Deadpool, who I've never taken to myself (I know, I know...I'm in a club of about one there...). I thought the last story was a bit hit and miss, sometimes fab sometimes no more than average. But I'm curious about the Omega Clan...
Hints slightly of desepration as, like many of the people here, I thought they had said they would always keep Ultimates seperate. That said when it's considered a universe, with a number and everything, on the wiki it was only a matter of time.
Totally agree with @ThanosIsMad. The comic did what it said on the tin but, in my own personal opinion, it did it in a cheap way. Both Cap and Cyclops are experienced leaders and intelligent men. Even with the pressures of the Phoenix Force and Hope they come to blows far too easily. I've said it before the fact that the mag had a sub-title of 'Round 1' sets the tone for what it is - not grand storytelling, just a blow out.
@Arevish Totally agree. There are way too many X-titles out at the moment. That said I may go against that and actually get this one as it's a character I really like!
@Billy Batson Gambit's no Wolverine? Thank god for that. I don't mind old Sharp Claws but he's in EVERYTHING right now! Here's hoping that they don't feel the need for that many Mutton Chops cameos...(although we know they will have 'em...)
I think these are part of the line but not in the film. I could be wrong but the ones in the film just don't look like Skrulls. I think it's a bit of a leap to connect them, as the Heroclix movie line is bound to have ones that are not in the film to give them more villians. Like I say, I could be wrong...
As for shapechangers, this seems to be based on Avenger v Avenger, such as the scene with Thor and Loki. But there's Loki, the TRICKSTER, who we know can shape change. I don't see why it can't just be him.'
Beta Ray Bill's race seems a stretch. They do have a hint of it but nothing more. I agree with the comment about them looking undead. When I saw the the other day I said they would be from Hel, the Realm of the Dead. If memory serves there was an early comment, from the producers, that they were not Skrulls (which everybody seemed to igno and, when asked if they came from one of the kingdoms replied that that was much closerr. They could still be aliens but my money is on Loki having brought dead with him. The high-tech weaponary, though, now that I can't explain...;)
Agree with Holyserpent. Nearly every review is a four or five star. This was a decent issue but not a great one. Cyclops thoughts and behaviour were a big stretch just set up to have them fight. Lots of people got to stand around, not many got to do anything. That will change but it just seemed a little forced. Even the 'Round 1' tag sets out the fact that this is about the fighting and the logic is way behind. It did have some good stuff - Magento's comment to Scott, Namor on Capt. The exchange between Protector and Stark. But it's not a give star.
Agree on the WWE or UFC feel. Apparently this isn't really about the mutant messiah or the Phoenix Force...no it's just about two sets of people wanting to 'beat each other up'. I've got a feeling that this is going to quickly fall into 'look at our cool fights' with the story falling along the way. Personally (and that's just me) I want more from such a big event.
I actually really like the biotech suit. I've always been interested in Kal-El as an alien and I think the new 52 makes him feel more like one. It also answers a number of the picky little questions (like what he does with his cape).
