*sigh* I am to much of a old school 'Make Mine Marvel' kind of guy to be excited by this.. Just too many joke characters running around the MU, Spider-Ham, Howard The Duck, Rocket Raccoon, QwenPool, Squirrel Girl and the return of Slapstick ( I never thought I would see the day...)

Too many changes to what I always thought was the best comic book universe in the industry, But quite honestly, everything I grew up with and knew...is gone. And what has replaced it has not been enjoyable or entertaining to me at all...

But this is the price you have to pay for being a 40ish comic book fan I guess, time will pass you by to make way for younger readers.

It's a shame really, I was there to read the first runs of CRISIS, and SECRET WARS and host of other storylines and events that current creators are trying to recapture that magic. I suffered through the 90's and the comic book collector phase, and several crappy movies and tv shows.

Now, when comics have never become more popular and accessible then ever...I find my enjoyment of the product to be at it's lowest

A lot of good stuff to digest here. Batman has completely evolved from the lone Dark Knight Detective, and has embraced a Team Gotham squad dynamic which I really like, I dig how Mister Thomas seems to bring something completely new to the table in regards to a Batman sidekick

But I really have a problem with Gotham and Gotham Girl. a) There names are terrible, it really takes me out of what they are there to accomplish. b) and if they wanted to be better heroes, they should have a different look to reflect that NO MASKS would have been the move.. IMO

Otherwise...GREAT start all across the board

very cool to see this. This is the things DC likes to sprinkle in now and then..the latest attempt that comes to mind was the new Ray, and guys like Will Payton's Starman

I will check this out and see where it goes

Ok...Finally got to read this...I can see the 2 stars now.. Honestly, nothing 'new' happened here. You could very easily skip this issue and still understand what is going on.

But again..I am left thinking.." Why are they fighting again?" and I could think of a few ways Tony could still make his point with the methods he uses...

And..really?

  1. So I guess he didnt get the news then..?Ok, sure then..we have not seen him in months, and we are just chilling in a lab in Utah? because..?
  2. 'I don't fight Tony Stark'...*sigh* soooooo bad
  3. He JUST got done saying as an Engineer, he has no weaknesses, but then he says.."D'oh..I forgot he was on the Inhumans...this place was so sweet tho.."

So issue 3 ought to be good trying to explain the last few pages lol

Yikes...! I was looking forward to reading this. I was hoping this would bring the story together for me a bit more, since I read the beginning out of order ( read CW 1 before I read the FCBD portion)

but have not seen a 2 star review in some time. Keeping a open mind, but that is concerning to hear, especially as I was confused and felt a bit..disappointed by what I had read thus far..

But typically Marvel starts with a solid concept, looses steam in the middle and the final issue ends on a high note

I grew up in the 80's so Gi Joe, Thundercats and of course Voltron were the animated Kings of my afternoons

So I always like to check out the attempts to update properties from my youth. Sometimes the final product is just not meant for the 40 yr old children of the 80's looking to relieve their youth, but for their kids and as such the experience at times can be...unforturnate, to be polite.

This however, this has sprinkled just enough of the classic series to keep me engaged, but enough modern bells and whistles to make my 11 yr old fully invested and looking forward to the next episode ( that is until the ending..."Noooo...It can't end like that")

It reminds me a lot of the work that was done on Avatar:The Last Airbender, and that is a good thing. Animation style is clean and action sequences make you want to rewind to fully appreciate what is happening. And like true Avatar style..the humor isn't over the top or cheesy, and the results are small chuckles to loud outbursts of a "HA!" mostly coming by the way of Lance, and his relationship with Keith.

I liked the characters, even when I didn't enjoy some of the choices made from the original team. Highlighted by a the Lance/Keith dynamic, and the more rounded Hunk who still remained the lovable meatball, to the opposite of the spectrum with the changes to "Pidge". As if they flipped the switch from humorous and annoying to bad subplot and annoying. So the purist will find SOMETHING they will just NOT like, however there will be so much more included it will not be a deal breaker.

But when it comes to Voltron it lives and dies with The Lions, Beasts, and Voltron himself. And for the most part...I think the delivered the goods pretty well. A nice job was done with building the anticipation of forming Voltron by taking a interesting approach to the team and their abilities. But when you do see them form, you can't help but to feel a bit sad, Because the transformation LOOKED fantastic, the most Mech'd out the show will get, but they left out some key elements of the original that made him so cool in the first place. This was a case where less wasn't more IMO.

Overall..A Very solid show for fans of Voltron. I think the experience will be pretty enjoyable. For those who are not familiar with the concept, I am not sure if there will be enough Mech and Action to sway anyones opinion much. And I case that is what makes this a 4 out of 5 stars for me, it's a modernized version of Voltron in all it's glory. Sure there will be changes and the results will be mixed based on your own viewpoint, but at the end of the season I think this will stand up as a worthy edition to the legend of Voltron.
