"Well, without really delving into the "who likes who" or the age old "Marvel or DC" arguments (because those are all about personal taste) I will write the undeniable FACT!!!! Marvel, has BY FAR...the greater universe of charcaters. Marvels characters have a MUCH grander "cool" factor, most of the DC characters are, well...boring and fairly unimaginative, IMO. For me, once Batman is taken out of the DCU it falls apart. Add to that, it took a Marvel legend, to add a VITAL depth to the DCU (Kirby) that is a MAJOR part of how the DCU is today. Comic preference? too personal to comment on. Comic UNIVERSE?...no contest at all..... Marvel rules... as they have since the late 1950's!"

all of what you say is personal taste, "COOL FACTOR" personal taste,

"most of the DC characters are, well...boring and fairly unimaginative" Personal taste, thats what i feel about Marvel alot, but as i said i dont like Marvel, your intitled not to like Dc im okay with that but dont go maing up speeches that have nothing to back them up with, also dont bring up indivdual characters saying their boring ect, ect, it doesnt work."

No, its not...my statements are supported by FACTS!

best selling comics? marvel hands down!

best selling merchandise? Marvel hands down!

most profitable characters in film guise? Marvel hands down!

most popular characters in the marketplace? Marvel hands down!

those are ALL facts, supported by numbers that prove them so, and if you wish to locate such factual information, its readily available with a bit of due dilligence.

First, hello all, i'm a neophyte, and look forward to being part of this site, which really looks awesome.

O.K. I'll jump right into the fire on my first post...who cares how many black characters are in comics? How many White Basketball players are there in the NBA? Should I complain about that inequity?

This idea that all races, creeds, colors, need be represented at all times, in myriad genres these daze, is simply, well...assinine!!!

Just to write, or create, a character of ANY color or religion simply for the sake of political correctness is insane, and REALLY bothersome to this collector. IMO there are PLENTY of black characters in

comicdom, and a plethora of purposeful "other" so called minority characters as well. We even have GAY characters now, and for the life of me, I don't see why the characters SEXUAL orientation matters

in the least in a comic, save for a political/agenda driven message.

Its FANTASY!!!! can one simply not enjoy the story, and break from reality without the need to see a character of ones specific own race, or color? Entertainment is just that, intended to entertain, to focus on such blatantly, and ignorantly, placed PC B.S. is distractive to the the contents purpose. There are at LEAST 20+Black characters in the Marvel and DC universes (there may be more I simply thought of 20) how many do you want? what is enough? Do you want the MAIN characters to be re-invented to be black? Because it will make a PC statement, and please the minority? Like turning Nick Fury black? that was silly, superfluous, crap...he's WHITE! leave him that way, and stop trying to appease a fraction of dolts who care about such details.

Just my newbie 2 cents worth...

cheers
