Shadowland

Shadowland looks pretty dope. I am digging the whole street level cross over but I'm not to sure about this new PowerMan looks kinda of whack. But we shall see. I kinda like the new digs for DD.

Hawkeye and Mockingbird

Ok I admit I didn't read the reunion. Mostly though because I hated the whole Ronin concept for Hawkeye. But this first issue and was awesome I think this is going to be my new favorite series replacing Nova. So awesome.

Some creator don't get the kudos

Sometimes I find it so frustrating how some artist who I just think are wonderful just don't get the praise or the high profile comics to showcase their talent. For instance Patrick Zircher is really fantastic to me this guy has shown so much improvement but always seems to get stuck on a dying title. While a guy like Greg Land who produces crap gets Uncanny. Pasqual Ferry has such a beautiful and modern style but was stuck doing Ultimate titles or working Enders Game. I would really like to see Andrea Divito on an Avengers title.

Comic book traditionalist

I realize I'm part of the older generation of collectors but I definitely don't feel that way. Comic books are still fun for me. Even though I have long out grown room to keep collecting it really hasn't stopped me. But I would definitely say I am more of a traditionalist in terms of what stories I enjoy and what art I enjoy. For me New Avengers missed the mark. There was a reason that the early generation of Marvel creators kept Spider-man and Wolverine out of the Avengers. To me it never made sense for Spider-man who was always the everyman who struggled to pay his rent or keep a date didn't fit with the rest of the Avengers, this was part of that characters charm what kept him unique. Wolverine was the shadowy past and questionable tactics only seemed to stay with the X-men because he felt that he had finally found a family otherwise Logan was the epitome of the loner and loose cannon. I feel like today's Marvel sometimes careless about the character and the history and more about marketing and the next hit movie.

More Cosmic Marvel

"Rosemann said that while he couldn't get into specifics, fans of "Nova" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" should be happy after the end of "Thanos Imperative."

"More cosmic goodness is not only happening, but will continue to happen," said Rosemann."

More cosmic goodness. Count me in. I have been loving Marvel's cosmic line.

Namor an X-men Ugh!

"You don't have to read "X-Men" #1 and 2, but if you do, you'll get a much bigger picture of the events surrounding our story. Without giving too much away: as we open, Namor is on a mission for the X-Men. That's the catalyst for our book, and the events of issue #1 play a vital part in "Curse of the Mutants." But they also set off a chain of events with immediate, very dire consequences for Namor and the Atlanteans.

Namor's relationship to the X-Men is our starting point, and that relationship will continue throughout the series. But at its heart, this is not an X-Men story, it's a Namor story."

Namor on a mission for the X-men ugh soooo lame.

3 Batmen

"This week, DC’s ongoing BATMAN title hits a major and rare milestone: 700 issues.

Listing every key creator to have contributed to the Dark Knight’s legacy would be a week’s worth of blog posts in and of itself. But this week, we’ll be taking readers into the pages of the amazing BATMAN #700, featuring a story by innovative and kinetic writer Grant Morrison and an all-star cast of artists that include Frank Quitely, David Finch, Andy Kubert, Tony Daniel and more. The story, which touches on every aspect and era of Batman is the perfect centerpiece for an issue that celebrates the past, present and future adventures of the Dark Knight.

We’ve got a week’s worth of cool art, engaging comments and a few surprises to commemorate the issue here on The Source, kicking off right now with a teaser page from the issue."

3 different Batmen oh this is going to be lame

My first introduction to comics

My great grandmother gave me a few tired looking old comics with no covers. I believe one was where the Mad Thinker had Toro (Human Torch) fight the Sub-Mariner. I think is was Sub-Mariner 14 but not really sure as I was only like 5 or 6 at the time. It didn't change my life at the time. But it was my first introduction. Then my father took me to my first comic book shop in Redondo Beach. It was called Galaxy Comics I was amazed that first day I visited the had a raffle of door prizes. The were giving away the Watchman series and a number of other door prizes. I just luckily just happen to win the grand prize a signed and numbered limited edition of Batman Son of Demon hardcover. It was so awesome. To this day it is still my favorite Batman story an Ra's al Ghul my favorite Batman foe. That experience at the comic shop really change my life. I never before really the variety of comics that existed. I really have been hooked on them ever since.

Can you ever go back

I often wonder if it is possible for a person to experience the return or joy of innocence again. When I was a much younger man I had a much more optimistic outlook on life. I felt generally "good" about everything. I wasn't completely naive but my outlook was not jaded or changed. As I have gotten older and made more and more mistakes in my life I find that it is harder to maintain an positive outlook on life in general. I No longer have that bright eyed view of the world or my country or even my fellow man. Is there ever any going back. I have lost my passion somewhere and don't really see it returning. Things that I use to enjoy don't have the same appeal and more. I lost my way and my "innocence" and I don't have any clue of how to regain any of those past feelings that in part I felt defined my character.

Most prized comic.

So this weekend I was thinking about which of my thousands of comics do I cherish the most. It was kind of a difficult question for me to answer. Of course I could say one of the first comics ever read or my most valuable comic, or my oldest comic. But really thinking about it my most for me it was the comic that proved to be the hardest to find. Miracleman 15 this comic took me over a year to track down. I didn't resort to e-bay or buying the comic online, I just searched and search in every comic book shop I visited. It was fun because I got to explore a lot of different shop. More often than not I was met with disappointment in not finding the comic, but the journey so to speak was quite a fun one. So Miracleman 15 while not my favorite story ever, although definitely an excellent one, is my favorite comic because of all the fun I had trying to find it.
