Okay, really, for those who seemed to not have read the manga or watched the new season. Mirajane would be the best person to have at Erza's back in a fight with Irene, because let's face it, plot armor only ever goes so far. And while Erza is very strong, there's no way she can defeat Irene on her own.
Also, what happened in the fight with Juliet & Heine was that to use her newest form, Mira had to use up a considerable amount of magical power for a form that has every demon in Tartaros consumed inside, was able to evaporate the sea from the sheer amount of magical power, and hit so hard it shatters two of Irene's enchantments at the same time. I don't know about you, but if someone can shatter a High Enchanter's enchantments simultaneously, then that means something. And no, she didn't have to use that form either because Seilah/Halphas/Sitri would have gotten the job done just as well because we all know those weren't exactly a threat to much of anyone in Fairy Tail, let alone Mirajane. Also, please don't believe Wendy is somehow stronger than Mirajane. That is just inexcusable & very hilarious
