10,000 feet into the air, well above the earth's stratosphere, an MQ-8 Reaper drone soars sky through the sky. Armed but currently surveying the area. Gathering data.
The situation is dire. But does not yet entail a tactical nuclear strike. Not on American soil. It would cause too much panic. No. A special force of some of the world's best who specializes in hunting the supernatural must get involved, as this creature is now publicly threatening national security.
For now they do not act. Only watch and prepare. Men equipping their various anti-supernatural gear designed to allow them to see ghosts, shoot ghosts, combat vampires, disrupt mages and simply do whatever is necessary for them to accomplish their mission. As their eye in the sky relays information to them.
In an imperfect world, peace is not possible while free will remains.
I choose free will over peace.
This.
Things like military have lead to a lot of inventions and advancement. Like leading to the invasion of the internet.. I'm not really sure a peaceful world could exist. But I would imagine we would all grow lethargic. Fat. Unhappy. And there would have to be absolute control over all of us. Likely some type of seemingly omnipresent, seemingly all powerful entity simply preventing all violence from occurring. Or we are all mind controlled.
But not all the time. War is a tool. Money is a tool. These days, and many times throughout history, the lines between good and evil are blurred. It's not like the old days of WW2 when it seemed pretty clear the Nazis were evil. War can do great good, cause great harm or be exploited. It all depends on a multitude of things. And there is the fact that as someone already mentioned, war is mostly a matter of perspective.
One thing is for certain. Good, evil or somewhere grey. It isn't pretty.
