I like to imagine a world were Punisher and Daredevil were on this list too. What a world that would be.

I think Spiderman does so well because he is more kid friendly than most of the other ones so I think a lot of parents are ok with taking a 7-12 yr old to see those and often that results in a whole family of 3-5 people going to see the movie. He also has better worldwide popularity than most of the others on the list(other than sm and bm). Also, adjusted for inflation I believe Superman would be quite a bit higher on the list.

Surprised that more people watched Thor than Cap. Also GotG made it in with 1 movie also not just Avengers

X-Men and the Wolverine movies should be counted together.

how can u not count inflation? pretty useless without it. i remember when considering inflation superman the movie would be the highest grossing (coud be wrong though not 100%)

It's not easy to calculate inflation for all the different markets. Adjusted for inflation domestic boxoffice i know spidey and Bats still beat supes i'm not sure about the other i'd have to check.
