Best roadtrip ever. 0

Review for Animal Man #2.  The Story: Since Maxine revived a bunch of animal corpses she takes Buddy to the home of the Red and the Hunters Three get ready to start there mission.  The Good: Lemire must be a real family man because the way he writes Buddy and his family just feels so natural. I wont expect any big punching and kicking action from this series but more family drama with the way Ellen worrying about the kids being taken away because of Maxine turning their neighbours arm into a chi...

Review for Venom #7.The Story: Flash has to find Brock because he might have a cure. The Good: It, sobvious this is was a confontation in the making, symbiote versus favorite host and it delivered. We see that Eddie has been reborn and to thanks to Spider-Island it's gives him the chance to help people in the way of a healer just like Jesus but he can still kick butt. In the last issue we see how much Flash is desperate without the symbiote when it's bonding with Eddie again, he admits that he's ...

Well it sure beats raising cattle. 1

Review for Teen Titans #1.The Story: A secret association are capturing young metahumans around the world for some reason and they try to captyre Tim Drake because of his skill. The Good: Lobdell has a very good handle on Bart Allen's character, he's shown as a very young, reckless, fast mouthed and most importantly inexperienced hero who does more bad than good. Wich also shows that teenage superhero's are not looked upon very well because of their inexperience and because of that are persecuted...

Review for Secret Avengers #17.The Story: Some sort of truck driver is terrorising a part of Serbia and Steve and his must stop him.The Good: Like last time Ellis give us a simple premise that gives him space for another high end action issue. The banter between the characters seems very organic and Ellis is doing the smart thing by having four members for each issue because he can focus some more. This issue goes at a very high speed rate because this is one insane vehicule chase. The reveal at ...

I want a meta vest now. 1

Review for Justice League Dark. The Story: Duplicates a woman are appearing around the world and the Enchantress is causing crazy magic attacks around the world. The Good: Milligan does a good job at introducing all of the characters who will be in the team and gives snippets of there personnality's. Shade seems to be the main character of the series because his M.O is definitely the oddest of the bunch, Shade is an alien from the planet Meta and has a meta vest that controls reality, that is defi...

Jason was a dick. 1

Review for Fury of the Firestorm and I don't feel like writing the rest of the title.  The Story: A bunch of mercenaries want to find something relating to Dr.Stein and when they find Ronnie and Jason in high school when they become there respective Firestorm at the end.  The Good: We have a group of mercs going around being a very effective team by killing all targets we see Gail's writing of Secret Six shine trough because this group is very fun. Also Gail is trying to make Ronnie and Jason ve...

Review for Avengers Academy #19.  The Story: The AA decides to blow up the Infinite Mansion to stop Creel and Titania.  The Good: Gage does a very good at making me wonder who will make the ultimate sacrifice but ti has a draw back. Also there were nice moments between Ken and Jen and showing they care for each other as a couple. Also the intereaction between Humberto and Jeanne was also nice. It's always fun to have Pietro in the series and having the teachers save the day was also a cool momen...

Review for X-Factor #225  The Story: Rictor plays aound with his regained powers, Rahne mops around with ice cream and the team gets called in by the Kansas police in order to indentify the corpse of the woman they met in the .1 issue. And she kinda gets re-animated.  The Good: It's X-Factor, all the usual compliments apply here, comedy is hilarious, action is simple and quick so we can have more conversation between characters that PAD has perfect graps on. We also have post Children Crusade Ri...

Review for Wonder Woman #1.  The Story: Apollo learns about his fathers latest escapades. And a woman who was attacked by minotaurs, gets a key from Hermes and gets transported to Diana, they go back to Zola's farm and she kicks some butt.  The Good: In a very small amount of time Azz gives us Diana's personallity, she doesn't joke around, when she wants something give it to her or she will force it from your very weak, very human hands and she a warrior, there is no doubt about that. The way th...

And nobody was drinking a sex on the beach. 1

Review for Red Hood & The Outlaws.  The Storie: Jason breaks Roy from prison with the help of Starfire. They hang out on the beach and Jason goes to help out some old friends.  The Good: Kenneth Rocafort will quickly become one of my favorite artists, just the way he does action, character motions, it's all very over top and this series does have a very 80's action movie feel to it wich I can enjoy. Lobdell writes Jason as a very sarcastic fellow and seemsalways wants the very last word in a...

Review fo Blue Beetle #1.  The Story: We get a prologue of The Reach conquering a planet and sending a beetle to Earth but was attacked by a Green Lantern. In the prsent day Jaime and Paco go to Brenda's birthday party but run in to villains aquiring the beetle and Jaime bonding to it. The Good: Tony Bedard does have a good handle writting teenagers. The bantering between the characters feels natural enough and he doesn't try and have the teenage characters use slang therms to much since that al...

He is the ultimate zombie. 0

Review for Resurrection Man #1.  The Story: Mitchell comes back to life once more and decides to go to Portland but the plane crashes and he gets chased by an angel. Meanwhile the Body Doubles are following Mitchell.  The Good: We get a great narration of Mitchell explainig how it feels like resurrecting and how it feels getting new powers. Using taste as an analogie to it was a good choice. The idea of angels and possibly demons wanting to get his soul because he will never officially die is an...

Rage against something. 0

Review for Red Lanterns #1.  The Story: Atrocitus monologues about how they need to find a new drive for there rage and on earth we see two brothers mourning the death of their grandfather.  The Good: Milligan really gives us a good look at who Atrocitus is, whats his backstory and what his corps do. The one-sided conversation Atrocitus has Krona's dead corpse was really interesting and the way he comes to the conclusion he was married to the rage he had for him. The intro with Dex-Starr is also...

What would happen if Frank met Hellboy ? 0

Review for Frankenstein Agent of S.H.A.D.E.  The Story: Frank gets informed about everything about S.H.A.D.E and goes off on his first mission with his new team members The Creature Commandos.  The Good: This series is going to be so much fun. Lemire introduces some many intriguing concept for this secret super team and how there HQ works, who are there employes (Palmer being here might be really cool) and there seem's to have a subtle set up of man playing god. With the machines that disintegra...

Review for Final Crisis: The Rogues Revenge.  So here it is people my 200th review. Unlike Silkcuts I don't really have any synchronicity with choosing this comic to review. I read it, I really liked and I wanted to express my opinion of it. Back in august I was in Edinburgh and I visited this nice, little comic shop called DeadHead Comics and I picked up this and the first trade of Fables and I loved both trades. But I felt I had more to talk about this one.  The Story: Captain Cold, Heatwave, ...

Review for Batwoman #1.  The Story: Batwoman is investigating the kidnappings of a Weeping Woman and hse is also training her cousin Bette.  The Good: After months of waiting I finally get to read this series and it doesn't disapoint. We get another explanation of Kate's origin and while I think it helped for new readers it would help if they read Elegy. I very much enjoyed Kate training Bette, it shows her drive to her mission and how serious she acts towards her cousin and how her military bac...

Jump on people. 3

Review for X-Factor #224.1  The Story: Madrox and Layla visit where Jamie used to live and gets to know the family who lives there. While the rest of the team is fighting a demon who pretends to be an old lady.  The Good: PAD writes a very good jumping on issue for new readers. The way he does it is give exposition to characters that know nothing of our protagonists. As any other PAD comic there well placed humour here, also Layla is really creepy here when she says "You should have hid better"....

Review for X-23 #14.  The Story: Laura meets the kids of the FF and they learn more of the earthquake.  The Good: First things first: Phil Noto's art is simply beautiful. I love it, it's very glossy and the way the light and shadows play off the characters is great, also he pulls off character expression's amazingly, without words this issue would still work. Also it's very interesting seeing Laura meeting the kids, it shows the disconnect that she has with meeting new people and especially with...

Battle in the sky. 2

Review for The Punisher #3.  The Story: Frank fights the Vulture in the sky's of NYC.  The Good: As expected for a Punisher fight this one is a bloodbath. Both these men want to kill each other, one for money and one for survival and if somebody dies the other will be happy. Just to say it was a great battle. We get a scene with Water and Oscar at the warehouse and we see just how much of a good detective Clemons is. Also this subplot for Norah Winters wanting to be a serious journalist is good....

Tick Tock ..... im waiting for the plot to pick up. 0

Review for Moon Knight #5.  The Story: Marc and Echo runaway from the cops and Tick-Tock gets interrogated by the police.  The Good: Some might be getting annoyed by the hallucinations but here is played up very well. Bendis has a good voice for each of them and how there experience's would try and influence Marc. Cap doesn't want him to hurt the cops since there just doing there jobs, Spidey wants him to run and get Echo and Wolvie wants him to cut loose on the cops in order to runaway. The con...

Review for Justice League International #1.  The Story: The U.N decides to create there own team in order to apease the public and they do with Booster Gold as the leader. Then the team goes off on there first mission in order to figure out what happened to a team of researcher's in Peru.  The Good: While Jurgens is not Giffen&DeMatteis he does know how to make these characters banter like the original team and Im happy to see some of traits will be staying. Im very interested by the inclusi...

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE !!!!!!!! 2

Review for Hawk & Dove.  The Story: Hawk & Dove stop a plane robbery of some sort of super zombie.  The Good: Well the action scene on the plane was nice and reminded me of Die Hard for some reason. It's nice to see that Hawk doesn't hide his identity as a superhero to his dad. Liefeld's art isn't as bad as I taught it would be.  The Bad: That still doesn't mean Im a fan of the art, it's Liefeld. The close ups on characters faces are plain ulgy to see and the damn lines on the characters...

Review for Green Arrow #1.  The Story: Ollie goes to arrest some freaks that have beaten people and have posted it on youtube. We see some of Queen Industries and the people who are helping him.  The Good: You know ive seen some negative comments about these villains but I find them interesting. These are the type of villains that think of dressing up in costumes and fighting superheroes is just stupid and seems very posur esk wich I like for some reason. I have a feeling were going to some corp...

Massacre will surely make a killing. 1

Review for Batwing #1.  The Story: We learn about the Batman of a town in the Republic of Congo, we also learn about his day job and what help he has. And we meet his first member of his rogues gallery.  The Good: Before this book came out everybody was saying it was ridiculous that one dude will be protecting a whole continent and I will admit it was but here Winick doesn't do that. Instead he's protecting a made up city in the Congo and does some great world building with a murder mystery invl...

Review for Animal Man #1.   Now when I was first deciding what I was going to buy I didn't put Animal Man on there because I wasn't interested, but the overwhelming positive reaction to this series here and being the pick of the week over at iFanboy was punching my curious si I bought it and I love it.   The Story: Buddy goes to stop a shooter at the children's ward in the hospital and after he comes home weird things starts happening to him and shifts his family life drastically.    The Good: W...

Stop being a smart ass Beast. 1

Review for Secret Avengers #16.  The Story: The Shadow Council tries to activate a huge time machine and the Secret Avengers will stop them.  The Good: I doubt Warren Ellis hates superheroes but if anything else he finds them silly and wants to write silly stories with them. And for the first time since the first issue this feels like a spy book, they fight a secret threat, they have weapons used for quick take downs and they fight him huge secret locations. Also Ellis plays with all the basic c...

Where's Darwin ? 2

Review for X-Factor #224.  The Story: Rahne's baby is born.  The Cover: This cover is beautiful. Showing a mothers embrace with a child with evil eyes is such a great contrast.  The Good: The whole scene with Rahne giving birth to her son was really creepy (he comes out trough her mouth, does this actually happen) and Agamemnon's dialogue really adds to it. And then the fear we see in Rahne's eyes as she sees what her son has done and rejects him was done perfectly. And it makes sense that he wo...

Review for Venom #6.  The Story: Flash captures the Spider King and things gets screwed up.  The Good: We have Flash's dad dying as a subplot wich adds to the doom and gloom of the situation Flash is in the issue. The action scenes are very chaotic and all over the place because this seems to be something that appears in other Spider-Island books. It's also interesting having Flash use fake courage when he's without the symbiote, it shows he's become dependent of it and shows that he needs to be...

Rose Wilson = Batman. 0

Review for Teen Titans #100.  The Story: All out brawl between the Teen Titans and SBP team.  The Good: It was great to have an all out brawl as a last issue and having almost every single past member of the Titans was great to see. My favorite moments where with Jaime and Miss Martian helping in the fight. Also to me this shows how much the teamare heroes with Superboy showing how much he trusts his team, especially with Rose and what we find in the box and what decision he takes with SBP is sa...

Review for Fear Itself: Deadpool #3 of 3.  The Story: Deadpool deafeats Walrus.  The Good: I like Dazo's art, it always fits with DP. I like the idea of having a child idolize DP, this could be taken into very dark or very humorous places.  The Bad: This was written by the guy who does a webcomic where at the moment we have men becoming Paul Bunyan, who are allied with Nasaghasts (ghosts who protect NASA astronauts) fighting sentient dinosaurs that have taken over the world and here we have a ma...

Review for Booster Gold #47.  The Story: Booster and Alexandra are being held by Nate but escape.  The Good: Alexandra has proven herself to be a character with potential because the way she deals with Doomsday might be cheap to some but I taught it was a great way to assert herself. Jurgens always has a good voice for Booster and it's nice to have Jurgens and Rapmund end the series.  The Bad: Michael and Barry don't really team up, BG kinda drops in on him and leaves when he has enough chronal ...

This week on Survivor: Avengers Academy. 1

Review for Avengers Academy #18.  The Story: The students run away from Titania and Creel.  The Good: It's great to see the students outsmarting our two Worthy's in clever ways in  wich they take themselves out. Also there was a splah page where when Veil tries to take over Titania like she did with Korvac and we actually get some backstory for the spirit that controls her, it's actually a pretty creepy image with mens corpses hung up on a huge tree. The art by Di Vito is nice and falls nicely w...

Review of X-Factor #223.  The Story: Jack is taking Rahne to his cabin in the woods to give birth to the child but they get annoyed by Feral and get attacked by a Cerberus. The rest of the team gets to them juts in time and Madrox figures out how Guido got saved. But by the end Rahne falls into labor but Agamemnon will help her.  The Good: Again PAD is able to inject moments of comedy in here with ease. Also this issue show's how good a detective Madrox can be, when M told him of Guido kissing h...

Review of X-23 #13.  The Story: Laura and Gambit are in New York to find another person on Laura's list but a strange symbole in the sjy cause's some destruction and she team's up with Spidey and the FF.  The Good: I really liked Phil Noto's art, it has this kind of old school feel to them, I have no idea how to describe it but I really like it. The use of this old X-Men related character was interesting since she wants nothing to do with heroes. Also seeing Laura choosing little things in her l...

Review of Severed #1.  The Story: Jack receive's a letter given to him fron his Grandson and he flashe's back to 1916 when to tell ths tory of how he lost his arm.  The Good: It seems one of the themes in this mini-series is appearence's. Porter is a salesman and explains that he has sharp teeth underneath the soft ones. This is plays both ways because he needs to sell things and he needs to be aggressive in order to get paid  but in actuality he has sharp teeth that he uses to kill orphans. Als...

Review for Punisher #1 by Greg MOTHER*&%@#$! Rucka.  The Story: A gang called TheExchange shoots up a wedding and two detectives are put on the case but Punisher finds them and kills a majority of them. The side story is Walter Bolt talking about a case where is partner was killed and says he killed the gang members but in reality Frank did the job.  The Good: Rucka was able to tell a great story and barely used Frank in this. He sets up who the villain will be for this arc, who will be the ...

Im finally getting BMB's comedy. 1

Review for Moon Knight #4.  The Story: Echo and Mark eat some hotdogs but get attacked by Night Shift.   The Good: Im finally starting to find the comedy Bendis writes very funny. All character interaction has some sort of comedy in this, from Echo talking to Carol Danvers and her not remembering her for being an Avenger for 12 seconds, to the Spidey, Cap and Logan talking about how Echo wont come. And even tough there hallucination's each of them are well characterized, Cap is full of advice, S...

I have been reading a lot about death lately. 0

Review of Avengers Academy #17.  The Story: The students get to breath a little but get attacked by Titania and Absorbing Man.  The Good: I liked in the beginning where the AA are fighting one of the mechs working as a team, this shows how much they grew up in this short time and them being treated with respect with Falcon when he tells them that Bucky is dead shows how much people believe them with the good job they did protecting civilians. The down time with the characters is interesting beca...

Review of Venom #5.  The Story: After dispatching The Fly Flash goes to see Betty and learns that his dad hasn't comeback home yet and he might be drinking.  The Good: I haven't read the first 4 issue of this series becasue I wasn't sure how I would enjoy this series, but after hearing nothing but praise I decided to give issue 5, a jumping on point, a chance to impress me. And it did. In here we get a simple story that really shows you what Flash went trough his childhood and how he became late...

Review of Teen Titans #98.The Story: Back when the TT were fighting Headcase in the gymnasium and Connor was sent in a portal it apparently Prime came out of it and in order to go back to his Earth he will kill everybody. The Good: Well I like Eduardo Pansica' art since he is able to draw what would be crowded pages aren't and he gets to drawn a lot of different characters. I find it interesting that Bart in order to keep his super speed brain occupied in going in his virtual chamber in order to ...
