Big Hero 6 Movie Review 0

http://youtu.be/zcHz-_AYpLohere's my video review of Big Hero 6, I really loved the colours, the fun, and the humour. I felt like this related a lot to a few other films. Those include: The Avengers, Spider-Man 2, Old Yeller, and Wall-E. The film was very cute and Baymax and Hiro's relationship was like a boy and his dog's....

Uncanny X-Force #2 Review 1

Uncanny X-Force continues here and the greatness of the first issue continues too. The is use of Holocaust which is kind of cool considering he is one of those characters that were big years ago, but have for the most part vanished form Marvel's books. I also liked how the Danger room was the action scence at the start. I dont think it is used that often anymore. I really liked the tour of the new base Angel gives Wolverine and the base itself is quite awesome. I loved the scence with Be...

Batman Inc. #1 Review 0

Picking up issue one of Batman Inc. this week got me pretty excited. I was excited because For the last six months or so I have been wantinh to get into a Batman series, but being that the main series is at issue 704 I found it hard to get into. But that all changes with this issue., having set up Batman Inc. in the Return issue Batman teams up with Catwoman to recruit Mr.Unknown as Japan's Batman. The art is not as sleek as David Finch's in Return, but this is a great kick-off to...

X-23 #3 Review 0

Marjorie Liu and Will Conrad continue to explore X-23 here in issue #3.This issue kicks off with an anthology like flashbacks to   and goes back to them every so often in the issue. And I honestly didn't mind the change of art by Sana Takeda.  Following that we venture to a scence in Laura's mindscape about how she feels controled by Cyclops and I feel much more understanding of her character from this scence. She manages to get this symbol of light to escape and get her mind back to Ut...

Avengers #7 Review 0

Red Hulk arrives in the Avengers, but is he friend or foe? For the hype coming into this issue, not much was delivered really. Marvel even ended up having a whole "Avengers Day" dedicated to the release of this comic and it wasn't that great. I think this issue suffered from "Spider-Man 3 Syndrome". I say that beacause this issue had way too many things going on at once and it did not mix well. I mean we had stuff on The Hood, Wonder Man (who's issues I still don't understand), and Red H...

Batman: The Return 0

The Dark Knight returns here. Having cultivated Bruce's stories for the last several years, Grant Morrison brings back Bruce Wayne. Along with David Finch on pencils, Grant brings a story full of Batman goodness a fan at any level could enjoy. There is a great bit with bats and comparing them to Bruce,Dick, and Damien. And when Bruce is fully there is comes back in full force with a new threat and new gadgets. Finch's art really shines on his portrail of the Batcave. It is rich with Batm...

Welcome To The Big Time! 0

Spider-Man's Big Time starts here!  THE GOOD The sheer size of the issue - It is huge. There are over 40 pages of new content here. The guest stars - The Avengers, Fantastic Four, Black Cat, and almost every "good guy" character in ASM's supporting cast have good moments. Dan Slott's writing - He knows how to mix all the great elements of a Spidey book; Action, Comedy, Great character moments. How Doc Ock is orcestrating a whole big plan with his army of villians. The Mac Gargon ...

The Race Is On! 0

After the huge cliffhanger from last issue, we start off with The Young Avengers, Magneto, and Quiksilver trying to figure out what to do next. Things get intense real fast between father and son as The Maximoff's are having trouble staying unified. The scence shifts to Wiccan trying to transport himself to Latveria. This leads to a confrontation between him and Quiksilver. Luckily Hulking and the rest of Young Avengers show up and everyone rests for the night. It switches to Avengers To...

New Avengers #6 0

The conclusion to my least favourite storyline of the year is here and I could be more excited. I really strongly feel that Brian Michael Bendis could have used almost any other dangling story and it would have been much better than this one. I think it is pretty bad when the only real thing I can think of to compliment this issue is the colours by Laura Martin. I also think the use of the headline "One of these Avengers will die!" on the cover of an issue is far too gimmicky and doesn't...

X-23 #2 0

X-23's journey to self-discovery contiues here, and she is not alone. Readers are greeted to a great father/daughter moment from the past at a circus. Then we flash forward to the present where Laura is greetes by the demon that is haunting Wolverine. I found it interesting how Will Conrad's art is differnent from Renato Guedes's art from the Wolverine series. From there is some great stuff between Storm and X and it expands their mother/aunt relationship established in issue one. Ano...

Amazing Spider-Man #647 Review 0

Brand New Day ends Here! Almost all of Spidey's regular writers for the last two years come together to send him on his way and to the Big Time! Fred Van Lente tackles the first, most important, and best story here. It mainly acts as a wrap-up for quite a few of the straggling plotlines in Amazing Spider-Man lately. The art by Max Fumara didn't sell me right away, but I got into it pretty quick. It's cool how the start of the issue is about Halloween and the holiday just happend here in ...

Generation Hope #1 Review 0

Kieron Gillen & Salvador Espin kick off the newest X-book. Hope and her ragtag group of new mutants along with their babysitter Rogue travel to Tokyo to meet up with Cyclops & Wolverine. One of my favourite parts of this issue is how every two pages or so the narration changes. I didn't think I'd like this at first, but ended up loving it. It gave a little more insight in how each character thinks and how they act. I also liked how their interactions were realistic and they aren't...

X-Men Legacy #241 Review 0

Mike Carey, Clay Mann, and Tom Raney conclude X-Men Legacy's Collison arc here. On That note also with Uncanny this week this book was done by two artists. I found this much less distracting than it was in Uncanny X-Men #529 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rrDHoa1o7k  ). Back to this issue though. I think it is great how eager the X-Kids are. Anole seemed pumped about going into action and Indra took charge great. Magneto & Rogue also kick a lot of ass here, and it seems Eric is per...

Secret Avengers #6 Review 0

Ed Brubaker and Mike Deodato kick off a brand new story here in Secret Avengers #6! We instantly get thrown into the action with Shang-Chi being attacked by the order of Hai-Dai. It seems to me Marvel is using Secret Avengers to propel characters not seen as often as liked and re-launching them so to speak by using them in this book for an arc. They did it last arc with Nova and it seems they are doing it again here with Shang-Chi.A big downer for me is that they didn't have Nova in this...

Amazing Spider-Man # 646 0

The Origin of Species ends here! I'll just say it here that I absolutely loved this issue. It was similar to last issue with the amount of action and the pacing, but it is very different.  With almost every villian in Spider-Man's history coming after him andthe baby it comes down to just two villians who cared about it the most. After The Lizard took the baby he has done some tests on him. He was able to find that Norman was not the father. Spidey and Doc Ock race to find Lizard and the...

Avengers #6 Review 0

The first arc of the new Avengers wraps up, Here! Leaping off the cliff hanger that was from last issue we have IIron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, and Noh-Vohr all face off with Ultron and try to convince him to help them take down Kang. There is quite a bit of chit-chat here. Not going to lie, I think this was a weak way to start off this issue. Being the last issue of a big arc it should start off with action and end with a bit of talk to calm it down. At one poing Kang talks about...

Daken: Dark Wolerine #2 Review 0

The Empire story continues, Here! I absolutely loved the starting bit of dialogue that talked about justice is revenge.  I really think that I am starting to understand the swagger and confidence in Dakens character. I am further getting interested about the mystery guy Daken has been aliagning himself with. Who is this guy and what are his intentions. Following this Mystique and Daken  meet up and I find their banter really entertaining. During this a special guest arrives and all hell ...

Uncanny X-Men #529 Review 0

The five lights storyline in Uncanny is over and I could not be more excited. this story has become much too formulatic for my taste. I understand how they are wanting to use this story as a launching pad for Generation Hope, but every issue in this story had been varying quality of essential the same comic for four months running. moving past that the Emma Frost subplot has very little legs anf frankly I am getting sick of the, ``is she good or bad`` talk. Emma has been at part of the g...

Amazing Spider-Man #645 Review 0

Mark Waid, Paul Azaceta, and Matthew Southworth Spidey's Origin Of Species and they do so with a 'Bang!' After last issue's cliffhanger,Spider-Man is pissed and he isn't stopping until he finds that baby. The book starts with some great dialogue a the police are getting calls from left and right about Spider-Man and the baby.I liked how you didn't see a lot of him at the start of the book as possibly part of the villian's narrative. I really loved the scence here were the supporting fema...

X-Men #4 Review 0

So I have been enjoying  Victor Gischler & Paco Medina's new  X-Men book quite thoroughly up to this point, but I found that nothing reaally happend in this issue. I like the parts where Cyclops continues to be the tactiction that he has been over the last few years. I also liked the point of this book where Cyclops broke a handful of X-Men into unusual teams and that was followed by a cool scence with Angel & Blade. From there a hideout is found and a scence reminisent of an e...

New Avengers #5 Review 0

Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen continue their mystic in this month's New Avengers. This issue kicks off with a scence involving the Eye of Agamotto, which I actually liked that turned to Dr.Strange and Wong kicking ass. Stuart Immonen's art is really great here. We get a scence involving Hawkeye and Mockingbird and we get an answer as to who is on what team for the couple. Hawkeye has to leave because he is getting an emergency call for the other Avengers, but I'm wondering if Sp...

Uncanny X-Force #1 1

X-Force is back, and this time they aren't chasing after Bastion. After being disbanded by Cyclops at the end of Second Coming, Wolverine & Archangel recruit Psylocke, Deadpool, and Fantomex to take on Apocalypse. I honestly wasn't so sure about the art, but like a lot of art the first time around I usually end up warming up to it. I like Deadpool's role as comedic relief in this book and it very much suits him. I really liked Psylocke's dream sequence and that scence is something I'...

X-Men Legacy #240 Review 0

The Collison storyline featuring Magneto, Rogue, Trance, Anole, and Paras continue here and boy does it get good! The issue kicks off with a great little action sequence  that started last issue. Rogue, Magneto, and Luz are captured. One of the children of the vault proposes that killing mutants and humans is like pest control. Magneto  Luz are placed into this big power-conduct device that will make them part of the C.O.T.Vs history. Meanwhile Paras is put through the paces and has to go...

Amazing Spider-Man #644 Review 0

The origin of species continues here in issue 644, we start with a woman freaking out about losing her baby and we see that she is at the police department demanding that she get her baby back from Spider-Man, turns out she is not the first woman to come to the police station for this. We jump to spidey being attacked by Vulture and then being ambushed by Freak. It then switches to a scence involing Tombstone, Carlee Cooper, and the police. There is a great little scence in here in with D...

Avengers #5 Review 0

Brian Michael Bendis and John Romita JR continue their epic time-spanning Avengers adventure. With the team still split in two, what repurcussions will this have on the greater Marvel Universe. We start off with a fun like page with Spider-Man & Spider-Woman before we move in to all the action. We are next treated to a gorgeous splash page of Thor ramming himself into Galactus. The next page we jump to the future with Iron Man, Captian America, Wolverine, and The Protector with the N...

Uncanny X-Men #528 Review 0

So I want to start off by saying that I really liked this issue and thought it was a drastic improvement over last issue. I think the characters were much better written, and I really found the art much less distracting in this issue. This book started great and ended great. Like the rest of this storyline it starts with a new mutant "puberty" and Hope and a classic X-character coming in to help them. The next part of the story has Bobby Drake talking to a Los Angeles Publicist and she i...

Secret Avengers #5 Review 0

I started out thinking I was going to give this issue a higher review because I have been loving this series, but I was really let down by this single issue. First thing that caught me off guard was the change in art. Not that tthe art was bad or anything it just wasn't Mike Deodato. I also found that keeping the art the same for past and present sequence was a little too distracting. I also think that it seemed Ed Brubaker was almost reusing ideas for this story as this seemed too much ...

Amazing Spider-Man #643 Review 0

Having been my second sinlge issue of Amazing Spider-Man in about 15 years, I was expecting abou the same as last issue, and that is what I got. I was expecting great character writing and a sense of urgency as per Spider-Man's  mission to keep Lily Holister/Norman Osborn's baby safe and away from the villians after him. I really enjoyed Peter's little talking bits to the baby in this issue and how he banters to get himself through situations like dealing with Sandman and Electro at the ...

Amazing Spider-Man #642 Review 0

Coming off Joe Quesada & Paolo Rivera's controversial One Moment In Time storyline Spider-Man finds himself at the "Origin Of Species". Mark Waid & Paul Azaceta bring Spidey to the fight of his life, Again. Despite dealing with being on two different Avengers teams, his always going drama with Mary-Jane, being jonless, and trying to find love. Now Peter has to deal with tons of his old villians coming for Lily Holister/Menace's baby. The initial dialogue  featuring Doctor Octopus...

X-23 #1 Review 0

Coming off the start of Second Coming Wolverine tells X that she has spent too much of her young life being told what to do, and being an adult. So now it's time for X-23 to be a kid. I will continue to say that I liked this book a lot more than her brother Dakens new book, but did not like either book as much as the first issue of the new Wolverine book. I really liike the dream sequence at the start here, although one problem I had was how I do not recall Laura being dramatized like thi...

New Avengers #2review 1

I will start off by saying that this issue really surprised me. I totally picked up issue 2 & 3 on a whim on Labor Day, and had read bad reviews for issue one (Which I  have yet to read). I thought this issue was great from start to finish. I think Brian Michael Bendis takes a lot of heat, but here he really showcases his talent of mixing humour while still progressing his stories. My favourite parts included the opening Stuart Immonen splash page, the Wolverine/Spider-Man banter, an...

Daken: Dark Wolverine #1 Review 0

*Warning, I am no Daken expert, I just reviewed it how I saw it* Thought a #1 would be a goog jumping off point.   Following Daken's stint as a Dark Avenger and following his battles with his father, The Fantastic Four, and  Punisher, Daken strikes out on his own once again. There is a few themes or keyphrases in this book that start in the beginning and are reintroduced at the end which I thought was pretty cool actually. At one point in the book Daken is making out with a model in Mila...

X-Men #3 Review 0

As the new X-book and initial storyline keep trucking along we learn more about Xarus's plan and how he intends on expanding Jubilee's infection to others namely powerful mutants like Wolverine. Also in this issue, we have the X-Men putting Dracula back together like Humpty Dumpty. (Cyclops even says it). I really enjoye Wolverine's inner monologue about how he is going to get Jubilee back and it delved into a bit of their relationship. I never realized they were this close. I knew they ...

Wolverine #1 Review 1

When I first saw there was going to be a new Wolverine series I groaned and when I saw that the tag line for the first arc was  "Wolverine Going To Hell" I laughed.I laughed and groaned beacuse I think he & Deadpool are the most over used characters in Marvel U and nothing new you could do with Logan. I mean what is this his 45th volume of books (Actually his 4th) and hasnt he been through enough hell in his life. I was originally going to pick up Chidrens crusade #2 today, but for s...

X-Men Legacy #239 Review 1

Mike Carey and Clay Mann continue to tell their East Vs. West story with Rogue's ragtag group of X-Men consisting of Magneto, Anole, Indra, and Loa. This all is happening while the other core X-books are focusing on Vampires and Lights on Cerebra's screen. While I found myself really into last issue. I read this one and it didn't quite equal to the level of last issue. They seemed very similar but I didn't like this one nearly as much. It could be that the last issue just came off the end...

Secret Avengers # 4 Review 0

So here we are at the end of the first arc of Secret Avengers, and I'd say that overall it's a pretty strong start for a brand new series. There are a lot of great moments in this issue; from Steve Rogers taking the Worldmind helmet and gaining the Nova Force, to Ant-Man Ercic O'Grady further stepping up and showing how intent he is on redemption. There is some more of the stuff with Anchon and the shadow council that I do not understand, but I think this is just Ed Brubaker trying to la...

I'll start off brutaully, but I am being as honest as p.     I'll start off brutaully, but I am being as honest as possibly can. This is probably the worst issue of   Uncanny X-Men Matt Fraction has written since he started way back on issue 500. In the issue Emma Frost is made the central character and she is written the least likeable ever since her HellFire Club days. Secret Avengers #1 Review 2

Ok so here we go, the beginning of a new era in  Avengers books. When they first announced this book back in March, I will be honest. I was skeptical. After they revealed the cast through a series of blacked out silhouettes I was not really sure how they would bring this whole cast together. But then I realized there was one common denominator to the whole team, Steve Rogers. I know  would follow him in battle if he asked. Steve along with Valkrie,Black Widow, Ant-Man (Eric O Grady), War ...
