But i fear they'll scale J'onn to Pre-Crisis Supes and say that his telepathy defeated the Spectre, making him superior to Norrin.

I think Sphinx should be the villain for a future event instead of another dumbed down version of Thanos.

In the first Mangog story, Odin just wished him away by ressurecting the alien race that formed Mangog.

Jason Aaron took away Thor’s powers, name, dignity, every positive aspect of his personality and his character and gave it to his former love interest who was costantly highlighted as better at everything than he ever has been (being a superhero, being the thunder god, using Mjolnir, even being handy with the ladies for Pete's sake..). He also portrayed Odin as a douchebag, an asshole and an incompetent fool in spite of decades worth of comic books depicting Odin as a wise and all-powerful king.

I'm kind of annoyed by Modern Marvel authors tendency of writing Thor and the people of Asgard either as average joes from the streets with a potty mouth who happen to be from another realm or as condescending parody of viking warriors obsessed with alcohol. This despite that for many years the asgardians were depicted as noble and larger than life people with a hammy shakesperean dialect peppered with thees and thous.

Characters like Thor shouldn't say cringe things like ''i'm the god of f\*\*\*\*ng thunder'' or ''give me more Odin-damned giants!''

This is how Thor should talk: ''Mayhap the enchanted mallet of Thor was overmatched against thee before! But when evil doth loom over the light of life, where innocents beyond measure are imperiled, there shall the scion of Asgard be found! For honor, for glory, for Asgard, for life i bid thee FALL!''

Honestly, i think Odin should have stayed dead. His heroic sacrifice to defeat Surtur in Jurgens run was a great and emotional ending for the character, but ever since Fraction brought him back, he has been portrayed as a douchebag redneck and an incompetent fool in spite of decades worth of comic books depicting Odin as a harsh but fundamentally wise, benevolent and all-powerful king.

I think it’s fair to say that Jason Aaron completely, totally, absolutely hates Thor and his world and couldn’t give a rat about Thor’s history and continuity.

There are only a couple of times I have ever seen a writer so hateful and desrepectful of a character he is writing:

Frank Miller with Superman and Green Lantern

Garth Ennis in every story of him about superheroes (except that Hitman and Superman’s crossover)

But at least Miller has grown to respect Superman over the years (see The Dark Knight: Master Race for details) and Ennis, for all his tasteless and overdramatic hatred of superheroes, always had the good sense of making his own stuff, not using the characters themselves.

I mean, I could add Bendis and Slott to the club but those guys do not hate superheroes, they are just totally ignorant of them.

How did we went from Thor being a larger than life and knightly hero to an alcoholic emo barbarian who instantly buys the ''gorr was right'' thing?

Thor literally saved the whole freakin universe more times than Jean Grey died and frequently helps humans but somehow he should feel unworthy of any love, gratitude or praise… and I’m totally supposed to buy this s\*\*\* and give my money to Marvel.

Kiss my shiny metal \*\*\* Aaron. You and the other post-modern deconstructivism lovers like Rian Johnson hellbent on making every classic heroic character look like a depressed failure.

@the_hajduk: Hulk is arguably the most wanked superhero next to modern Superman by both fans and authors while Thor gets punked left and right.

I guess Greg Pak and Al Ewing were annoyed by MCU Hulk becoming ineffectual so they kept giving Hulk over the top feats, while Thor got constantly ridiculed by Aaron in both the Thor series and in the Avengers.

Easily manhandled Ulik the troll, the latter stating that Mangog might be a hundred times stronger than him.

Defeated three storm giants with a single punch.

When Mangog was unsealed, the rigellians detected his energy several galaxies away and deemed the monster to be a bigger threat than Ego the Living Planet.

Casually lifted large buildings.

Defeated armies of asgardian warriors with ease.

Restrained Thor with one hand.

When Thor threw Mjolnir at Mangog, he punched the hammer hard enough to send it back at great speed.

Has beaten Volstagg, the War Thor, to a bloody pulp.

Crushed the Mjolnir from the Ultimate Universe to dust with one hand.

Overwhelmed the Destroyer Armor and crushed its Uru metal arm with one bite.

Can travel through space by jumping on moons and asteroids.

Shrugged off Thor's hammer blows, tornadoes and lightning blasts multiple times.

Was completely unharmed when he fell into white hot lava.

Survived being teleported inside a star that went nova by Odin.

Resisted energy blasts from a weakened Odin.

A bolt of Anti-Force capable of destroying planets from Mjolnir only staggered Mangog for a few seconds.

Was fine after being blasted by the rigellian Sun Shredder, a laser cannon capable of destroying a star.

Shot an energy beam that trapped Loki in a block of amber.

While disguised as Odin, Mangog casted spells that turned the Warriors Three into farm animals and Lady Sif into a feeble old woman.

Destroyed Bifrost, the Rainbow Bridge that connects Asgard to the other 8 realms.

Absorbed War Thor's massive lighting and spat it back at him.

Always boasts about having the power of a billion billion beings.
