Comics/Shows I Did Not ENJOY That Others LOVE

List items

  • Well, Checked out the show after it got so much praise from everyone. Stopped watching after couple episodes. The Main character Korra, found her annoying and obnoxious. Even the villain was more likable. The story is also cliche, along with the love triangle. The animation is amazing though.

  • Check this out also after couple recommendations when I started reading Fraction's Hawkeye. It was meh. Expected more. Maybe because I wasn't familiar with almost all the characters.

  • Read the whole series, but felt like it was a chore. Really wanted to like this since this is hailed as one of the best comic, but didn't.

  • Hickman's current New Avengers AND AVENGERS series. Even though the main Avengers book got mixed reviews, this one got really good reviews allround. Read it through 3 issues and found the whole universe expanding story boring.

  • Gonna get lotta hate for this. I don't know why but I can't even get into one of the best Superman comic. Also felt like a chore to read. Really hope there is a day that I like a Superman trade that I read.

  • Again, wish I enjoyed reading this, but I didn't.

  • Not my cup of Tea.

  • Same as AllStarSuperman

  • I just can't get into Grant Morrison's writing. That depresses me.

  • Same as Thor, not my cup of tea. Guess I'm not really into many fantasy/cosmic/medieval comics or characters.

Yeah, New Avengers really does get better the deeper you get into it.. though I can see how it wouldn't be to everyone's taste.

As for All Star Superman, if you don't like that, it seems just as likely that you just don't like Superman.

Although, I have noticed that Frank Quitely's art seems to be rather polarizing, so maybe it was that you didn't like?

Might read Thor in trade in the future, but I don't think the current Avengers books are for me.

Yea New Avengers is not my cup of tea.

It seems like it. I can't get into any superman story I read. I always seem to have trouble getting into Hickman and Grant Morrison's writing, or maybe I'm just too stupid to understand their stories lol. I quite liked Quietly's art. It was just the story that didn't grab me.

I guess I'll share a comic book I didn't like.. Apparently Welcome back Frank is like the best Punisher story.. ever. I thought it was boring and slow.

I enjoy Legend of Korra, but not as much as I enjoyed The Last Airbender. I understand where you're coming from with your issues there.

As far as the others, I agree with you on New Avengers. Haven't read most of the series you listed...except Wonder Woman, which I must say I am absolutely in love with in the New 52. At least in her solo series (maybe not-so-much in Justice League).

Look it up. You might like it. It's pretty fun series.

Now you know how I feel when I don't like something that is critically acclaimed

I loved Avatar: The Last Airbender, but I just couldn't get into Korra. The story wasn't nearly as interesting.

Grant Morrison's writing can be a tough pill to swallow. I actually love All Star Superman, but I can completely understand why some other people don't enjoy it. I've been reading New X-Men, and I also enjoy that, but man, it's really weird. Whenever I read it, I often wonder if I skipped a page or two because of all the crazy stuff going on. I think Grant Morrison might be a bit too smart for his readers sometimes. That said, I do enjoy his writing. There's a lot of depth layered in his stories. His works are definitely not for everyone, though.

Also, I think you might just not like Superman. If you really want to like him, though, read Superman: Birthright. That story converted me into a Superman fan. It helped me understand what his character was all about. If you don't enjoy that, then I'd say you're okay to give up on Superman.

I have to agree with you on multiple things. I'm not a big fan of Legend of Korra either. I think the show is overrated. In fact, I really miss Young Justice because the second season is very lackluster.

Also, like you, I just cannot get into Grant Morrison's writing. I'm not really sure why so many people like his writing so much. I didn't particularly like All-Star Superman. With that being said, I thought that Superman vs. The Elite is better.

I will, however, have to disagree with you on one thing--Superman: Red Son. I found this book very intriguing. I will have to read it again, but I remember reading this when I was in art school and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Overall though, I agree with most of your assessments here.

@madeinbangladesh: Good!

And I also agree with you on Superman stories. I've tried and just can't. I like his character though because I like him in Justice League stories and really any story where he's guest-starring or co-starring with someone else (like Batman) I can do. Just not Superman solo.

I haven't read most of these, so I can't really give my opinion on them. But New 52 Wonder Woman is tied for my favorite New 52 series, but that's probably because I love Greek Mythology. Superman: Red Son is my favorite Superman story, but I love alternate realities like that one; the rest of the Superman stories aren't my cup of tea. It's hard to get into his stories.
