I have to admit, I am shocked Magneto is at #20 (thought it would have done a lot better) and also disappointed Black Widow didn't crack the top 50. :/
Did no one think it was funny how they omitted mentioning how unrealistic most female characters' costumes are, regardless of "realistic" artistry or not? It's one thing to talk about wrinkles in spandex/pleather/leather/vinyl from an outfit on a male character's super, buff body and quite another to show the physics-defying uniforms wrapped about Emma and her "girls". But hey, that would be asking too much -- can't get too realistic, amirite?
@lykopis: did you not think the space backgrounds were pretty bad?
I did cringe at the planet...and I did cringe in the preview story too...and I am hoping the cringing will get less...
Even though I really enjoy Allred, it's always with the story in mind and with the Silver Surfer, it might not work out very well. I just really want to give this book a chance but I am leaning towards your way of thinking in terms of how space appears under Allred's inks. :/
@adamtrmm: Yeah, that part in X-Force always annoyed me. I happen to know what Magneto chose to do, and keeping Magneto's character in mind as I know it, there was no way he couldn't go the way he did. (The mutant's name was Whisper, btw.) Great story, I agree.
@cutter: This is why I am really loving this book so far -- Magneto in the trenches instead of loftily floating in the air as he wraps girders around armies of humans is exactly what I was hoping for. Sure, the lack of control/ability to use his powers could be argued as the reason, but not according to the story being told so far. It's well done. I always loved to hate Magneto, but this is a take on the character others in the past argued to me was always a part of him. As a long time Marvel fan, it's cool. :)
