No Return of the Joker? :O

Pretty good list. However Superman vs The Elite at 1? I feel that Mask and UTRH were better.

Also AoA I think is a bit too low.

Very good list, Superman vs the Elite was amazing, it's the movie I wish we had gotten instead of MOS.

Good list, although Ultimate Avengers should be way higher in my opinion.

Good list. Personally, Mask of the Phantasm, UTRH, and Dark Knight Returns (both parts) would be higher for me. I also would've included the Batman Beyond movie (the one with Joker).

This + Dr Strange wasn't bad.

What about JL War & Throne of Atlantis? Did you like those?

They were okay. They're watchable (War moreso than Atlantis), but I feel like they were lacking something. I don't know if it was the stiff dialogue, some odd action sequences, a muddled plot, or the weird way they handled the final sequences (particularly the Ocean Master fight), but I don't regard them as highly as some of the other DCAU movies. @lvenger: What did you think of Flashpoint Paradox?

Some of the best animated films to be made right here on this list. Nice choices @lvenger, dig the Superman films of course.

Thanks for reminding me when I finally decided to read the comments to my list, how foolish of me to forget my second favourite animated CBM. It baffles me how I could forget my next favourite film besides Superman vs The Elite. You'll see it on here by the time you see this notification.

I'll freely admit my opinion played a huge influence here as it does with all our preferences. Even though MOP, UTRH and ROTJ were all superb Batman and animated CBMs, I did feel Superman vs The Elite captured the themes, conflict and character struggles of Action Comics #775 perfectly and was performed with a top notch cast. That's why it's my favourite.

As for AoA, I felt it went over the top with shock value and gore for the sake of it rather than using it effectively as a form of storytelling. It's something Batman stories do tend to do sometimes IMO. It's still on my list at least.

Um thanks but this is just my opinion. You can't expect it to match your own exactly considering how different and nuanced our perspectives can be on stuff like this.

Thanks, that seems to be the prevailing theme in the comments. Haven't seen both parts of the TDKR films yet, just clips on Youtube. The Batman Beyond movie is going in my no. 2 spot since I love that epic masterpiece of animation.

Knew you would mate, hopefully they're in an order you approve of too.

@lvenger: It's in a perfect order, mate. Only bad thing is that it makes me hunger for a new animated Superman film all about him and no other leaguers.

@soldierofel: So do I, but with the current standard of DC animated movies, I'm not holding my breath if they decide to delay it for a little while longer. Apparently, the rota of films will be a Batman movie, a Justice League movie and a non canon movie rinsed and repeated for the next few years at least.

@lvenger: Cool, I completely understand where you are coming from.

@lvenger: That's true. It's also a shame because BVS is looking to down tread on the man of steel and the true sequel to MOS has been put on permanent hold. Which means we might not see Supes on the big screen for another 10+ years. That's hardly befitting the first big Superhero.

@soldierofel: There is the George Millar rumour John Schnepp is fronting but I find that to be just as insubstantial and unfounded as any other of the rumour mill comic book sites.

TDKR was really good. It's dark, but not just for the sake of being dark (if that makes any sense). I've been pretty disappointed by some of the more recent DCAU films (JL War, Son of Batman, Throne of Atlantis, Batman vs. Robin), but TDKR is one of those DCAU films that are legitimately theater worthy imho. Flashpoint Paradox was also really good if you haven't seen it.

What did you think about Superman Unbound? I'm not a Supes fan so I didn't watch it, but I did like Superman vs the Elite. Is it worth watching or should I skip it?
