@the_magister: I haven't really looked at what people are saying to be honest, (I don't really debate much anymore,) but I don't think most matchups with him have changed after the third movie. I thought it was pretty consistent with the first two with him only being a bit more established.
I haven't actually seen AoS which is one of the reasons I made this thread. Both characters are pretty popular on here so I figured there'd be a lot of interest, and to somebody who isn't very familiar with Ward they seemed to not be a bad match stylistically. With somebody like Frank who I'm familiar with, I think Wick still wins with guns and still loses unarmed, just like when he had only one movie. I was impressed by his killshots against the assassins in bulletproof armour during the climax, though.
The first 45 minutes were perfect. Everything up until the Excommunicado was so tense and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Then all the action scenes after that were brilliant until he made it to where he grew up, and at that point I think it became a bit too outlandish. The fight scenes between them and the Japanese assassins at the end were too frequent and got a bit repetitive I feel. The action climax at the Continental went back to being amazing, but I wasn't happy with the end. I think they're trying to sell sequels way too much now in a way that ruins the film as a standalone experience.
