@ms-lola: Everyone enjoys at least one. Clichés/tropes aren't always bad. It all depends on how its used. If writers spent their time avoiding all clichés/tropes well...
@csg_cl: Then we agree. That's kind of what I'm trying to say. With some minor differences but we're basically on the same side. I mean Kathryn did capture the essence of her story but she probably did some research to understand her story better. Do I write horribly or something? I feel like I'm not getting the point acrossed to the other guy.
@dernman: It does add something, it adds perspective and a better understanding of the story your writing. Unimportant? So what your saying is that filmakers shouldn't go out of their way to have a better understanding of the story they are creating because they don't NEED to do that to create a good story. Well its not about creating a good story its about making the best story you can. Lastly, of course there is no gurantee that the movie will be liked its based on opinion.
@csg_cl: In my previous posts I explained my point of view, that I don't think a woman needs the job but it would be good to have input from them at least. Sorry if that wasn't explained enough. Again my point wasn't that you need to have an experience to the story you write but that its better to understand the story you write more by getting different perspectives and info from people who have experienced it, especially if its based on real events. Do you really think that Kathryn Stockett wasn't friends with or even talked to a black maid while or before writing the story? I'm pretty sure I even read before that she was friends with a black maid. Lastly, two people are arguing with me that woman input would add nothing to WW so....
@buttersdaman000: These aren't rules or anything they need to make a movie. I'm just saying it would be good to have a female input of the character. I wish it was as simple as pick the best person for the job but honestly there are plenty of other influences to the decision, not to mention different opinions on the matter. You can't always get the BEST person for the job.
@dernman: @csg_cl: He adapted it from a book. Not to mention he was childhood friends with the writer of the book. They are still friends. Why is everyone ignoring what I say? I'm not saying a woman has to make the movie but I'm saying its better to have a female voice in there somewhere. I never said the movie will be better I said its better. You can do more research if there are still people alive from that era, why not use that information to have a better understanding of your film? Like I said a good filmaker goes out of his way to make the best film he/she can.
@buttersdaman000: You just ignored what I said. I said a woman doesn't have to have the job but its good to have a female voice in there somewhere. William Martson had input from his wife and probably other women while writing Wonder Woman.
