This ruined the entire series for me. 1

The writer for this series was a DCAU/Timmverse writer & has no experience writing the Joker outside of that little bubble. I know the Timmverse is not canon continuity with the Post Zero Hour comics, but it always bugged me how different the two Jokers are, while Harley is the same in both. The Joker has changed a LOT since BTAS. With the exception of Batman #570 & Gotham City Sirens #23, the Joker has never ever shown any affection toward Harley. I know because I have every comic book...

The Joker was the bait, & I'm hooked. 0

My only gripe with this issue was the Joker was redesigned in April of 2007. Where's the bullet scar? I can't assume this was taking place in the past, since this all happens shortyly before the BoP disband. I don't regularly read this series either.  Well, this story arc lasts up to issue 124 & was released in book format as "Birds of Prey: Platinum Flats." I enjoyed the issues enough to repurchase the story as a book. Because of the Joker's encounter with Barbara in 124, it feels like a s...

A fun read. 0

I've really enjoyed this entire series. Guillem March's art gets more & more beautiful, (imo, no one draws the famale face as well as he)  & Paul Dini knows how to tell an ammusing story. This sort of love triangle between Harley & Gaggsworthy over a man who has washed his hands of both of them will put a smile on your face. Dini did a nice job of digging up a once-used character from the Silver Age & giving him new life & completely unrealistic goals. I like the way the Joke...

A favorite. 0

This is one of my top 10 favorite Joker stories. It's funny like the "Slayride" story from Detective Comics, the art is great & expressive, & the writer really seems to have a feel for the Joker's personality. On a personal noote, I reallyu like the costume designs.  So naturally I also reccomend Azrael: Agent of the Bat 60, which has the same artist & writer. The interaction between the Joker & Azrael in both stories is really ammusing & humor is something I've always found ...

Rollercoaster Ride. 1

Well, this short 3 issue mini series has it's ups & downs & if I was Linkara, I might find something wrong in continuity. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when Batman made a reference to Lex & the Hitler Youth, didn't that happen in the Silver or Bronze Age? & didn't everything that happened in the gold & silver age get nullified by Crisis on Infinate Earths? Meaning it never happened? Then there's the Joker telling Batman that he DOES want him dead & hates him, which contrad...

Contains spoilers! 1

If you're not a regular reader & just pick up issues with your favorite villains in it, this one is going to mess with your head. Just skimming through it told me this was either a dream, an alternate reality, or set in the past....must have something to do with that beam Darkseid hit Batman with in Final Crisis. The Joker looks like his old Batman TAS self & still on speaking terms with Harley. The 2ed thing I noticed is that even in a long dress, Selina Kyle still manages to look like ...

The Joker gives logic the middle finger. 0

Appologies ahead of time for not spellchecking   :p   & I probably should have mentioned this in my Batman Confidential 10 review: The Joker's masochism is as strong as his sadism; he claims that pain is the only thing he feels & it lets him know he's alive. He does a sadistic deed & gets a masochistic reward. When Batman beets the crap out of the Joker, he's just giving him what he wants. We open to the Joker & Batman, brawling on a rooftop near the Bat Signal, Batman is nearly s...

Never stand-up a clown. 0

The Joker has just killed a roof-top security guard for his shoes, not suprising. He looks up at the sun & the people down below & feels like it's the first time he's really ever seen the world. It's likely that the length of time he spend holding his breath has killed off some brain cells, but he will inevitably become Gotham's most insane genius aka "supersane."Elsewhere, Bruce Wayne is in a hospital moping over girlfriend # xxxxxxx & Harley has just recieved a gratitude payment in...

A Bunny! 1

This story line makes Batman indirectly responsible for the Joker's chemical bath & excludes the Red Hood entirely. We also get to see a nice demonstration of the Joker's high tollerance or even indifference to pain, making a connection to an older Joker origin story about his childhood by mentioning that his mother used to beat him. After a while, he gets pissed-off & launches himself into the chemicals, taking the guy he's fighting with him. This part goes well with his lack of fear of...

Awesome Mixed-Origins Storyline. 0

This is, in my opinion, THE best Joker origin story. In this issue we see Jack as already having assumed his Jokerpersonality, long before his inevitable chemical bath. He is already obsessed with Batman as his new playmate & toy.We also get to see a nice little conversation between Batman & pre-Scarecrow Johathn Crane, who are meeting for the first time. You have to love the irony of Batman having once relied on Scarecrows studies to help him take down criminals, only to have the man be...

This issue makes me think too much. 0

Something has actually been bugging me since last issue...the time setting. The fashion & technology would suggest that Batman has sratedhis "career" in current times, the late 90s at the earliest. Bruce Wayne is no spring chicken. This thing should have been set back in time, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60,s 70s, 80s, anything would have been better than making it seem like he's still the new kid in town. The story however is fantastic, & really pushes on the idea that Batman unwittingly created the ...

A fun new origin story. 0

This one is much deeper & rather than having some unknown mystery person with little background becoming the Joker with a personality that seemed to suddenly spring from his chemical-induced madness, we see a man who already bares traits of the Joker's essential personality traits. The last page is also quite funny.I never did like the Jack Napier (Jackenape) or Joseph Kerr (Joker) names...too campy, & Edward Nigma (enigma) is pretty bad too.The most notable change is that this is also a...

The most in-your-face transformation of the Joker since DKR. 0

I'm deducting 1 point for the writing; the author has a tenacious tendancy to prattle on & on with insignificant details, like Anne Rice or John Steinbeck, which is annoying for those who don't have rock-solid attention spans. Batman R.I.P. is an exciting new story arc that has been mostly positively recieved, leaving a few confused & impatient for what comes after. For Joker fans, Batman R.I.P. brings about the biggest rebirth of the Joker since The Dark Knight Returns, only this one i...

Good stuff. 2

I have a pretty sadistic sence of Humor, so DYUTR is settling well with me. The character designs remind me of Batman TAS & at times the Joker's design reminds me of of the way Frank Miller drew him.Gotham has been besieged by a massive killing spree with no suspects, until Batman tosses the Joker at their feet. Once again, the Joker's questionable insanity is put on trial, litterally. But thiings aren't going too well for the police, seeing as even in police custody, the Joker is managing t...
