Re: What movie/novel would you like to see adapted into comics?

Horror movies of course....80s horror movies. Friday the 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Hellraiser....* that Japanese movie "Infection" which is the only one from Japan I've seen that qualifies as horror. There was a good Korean one about a girl & her mom that sorta reminded me of Dameon: the Omen, but I can't remember it's title.  Subsequantly, I'd like to see movie or game adaptions of Jhonen Vasquez's JtHM & Squee. For non-horror; Harry Potter...but that last one has to be a manga...& not drawn by Americans. I'd also take an American comic that blatantly ripps-off GetBackers, that's good fun! & lastly, a comic book series for Homestar Runner & Sam & Max )the graphic novel wasn't long enough).

For one-shot or 3 issue mini series, like some classic Marvel releases, the only movies they haven't already made comics for that I'd like to see are Interview with the Vampire, Mary Reilly, Pleasantville, The Bad Seed, Death Becomes Her, the Alice in Wonderland movie that had either Martin Short or Geoffrey Holder, American McGee's Alice, Baldur's Gate II, Neverwinter Nights 1, any Dungeon Siege, & an all new adventure for the claymated cast of Nighmare Before Christmas.

Favorite Comic Book Pencilers.

Mike Choi: He only did one volume of X-men, but it had the best cover ever & midnd blowingly awesome character designs for some of my favorite characters.

Tony Daniel & Dale Eaglesham for their Batman villain designs. Apparently they haven't worked on too many Batman issues.

Why is it that the best artists are the ones not working regularly for the series?

Favorite Comic Characters.

X-Men:
---------
*Wolverine cuz, well, he's Wolverine!
*Gambit: Hot, best dressed, long hair, loyal in love, not so loyal in everything else.
*Mystique & Mr. Sinister: Blue skin, pretty/handsome, & total badasses.
*Archangel & Nightcrawler (STRICTLY for their looks, I actually find their playboyness & religiousness unforgivable).

Superman:
---------------
*Bizarro: Addorabley & nievely hilarious, with his Addams Family/Munsters outlook on life.

Wildcats:
-------------
*Zealot: A no-nonsence bitch out for blood.
*Grifter: Reminds me of Gambit. Zealot's yes-man.

Batman:
------------
*Batman: Better-than-thou costume, no superpowers, inability to kill my favorite charcters. (But I hate that he's a straight playboy & he needs to stop having sidekicks).
*Joker: He fucks with people's heads, has an ambiguous sexuality, is eternaly mysterious, & is a huge liar.
*Harley: I prefur her when she's not around the Joker, like, solo or with Poison Ivy. I hate her custume so much! But she's very silly & represents every girl who wants to hang out with the Joker.
*Poison Ivy: I have a hard time accepting her as a villain rather than an an tree-hugging anarchist, victimized like a forest animal against man's gas-powered progress. Plus, she's not a skank like Catwoman, even if she dresses like one. & because I like AD&D video games, how can I hate a Dryad?
*Mad Hatter: Aside from the touching episode of Batman TAS, where I hoped Batman would actualy loose, I just have a big Wonderland fetish.

Other:
--------
Creeper: Will write latter.
Anarky: Ditto.

Costumes: DC versus Marvel:
-----------------------------------------
Man or woman, everyone in comicbooks dresses like a whore/manwhore. Being raised on manga, I'd prefur it if all the guys looked like the androgynous menfolk of Final Fantasy & Japanese rockstars. I just don't share the typical American opinion of beefy, rugged, short-haired guys being hot. Just replace all of them with women, flatten their chests, replace their utilities, & we'll call it a day.

As for women, DCs female costumes seem much skankier than Marvel's & Catwoman's is so bad, I almost feel offended looking at her. She's also too letcherous, She comes off like a gay guy with a really convincing sex-change. Poison Ivy seems, to me, like she would never dress the way she does. Naturally it's always horny men redesigning her costume. I mean, come on guys, you can't screw Poison Ivy any anyway; she's poisonous to the touch. Maybe the Joker could, but those two don't like eachother, Harley wouldn't allow it, & he seems kinda gay for the Bat anyway.

The Joker's costume is yet another reason to like the Joker; no musckles, no liquid latex, he's the best-dressed guy in Gotham. Harley's suit is almost as bad as Catwoman's, but I think it's her hat that I hate the most. Batman has the least embarassing array of costumes among the DC heros, but Gotham City's male  villains just know how to dress better.

Marvel has lots of awesome costumes, & most of my favorite characters have them. The skin-tight costumes are multicolored to effectively reduce sexiness, capes & coats cover butts, but no girl or guy dress better than Gambit & Mystique. Hell, Mystique has the most various wardrobe of any character.

Mangas.

I HATE Naruto...It's a Noob magnet. It's also on my shit-list for being poorly dubbed & the most overworn costume at Sakura  Con2 years running. When I meet someone who watches, reads, draws, or cosplays Naruto, it tells me that they only watch popular stuff that's in english on TV instead of watching subtitled unlicenced anime or reminecing about classics from the 80s like a proper otaku.

Gokusen: Female yakuza boss' granddaughter hides her identity as she teaches at an all-boy's school for kids no other school will take.

Dragon Half: Dungeons & Dragons in lingerie, has many character similarities to Slayers. Kemono girl/Ninryuu wants to become human so she can marry her favorite idiot celebrity.

Saiyuki: A chain-smoking, liquor drinking, gambling monk & 3 demons try to rid China of a demon king & kill anyone who gets in their way. Failed as a shounen series, so seasons 2 & 3 were toned-down for a shoujo audience, which kinda ruined it. Would have made an awesome RTSRPG though.

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro: An action-comedy fascading as a mystery series. Despite the anime ending mid-series, the really good stuff happens in the 2ed half of the manga. Sadistic demon detective & his bottomless pit of a human assistant. Despite being shounen, statistic show the American following of the manga at more than 75% female.

Parasyte: Parasitic aliens invade peoples brains & turn them into canibals. One lucky boy manages to trap a parasite in his arm & forces it to help him hunt the others down. After a few tragic accidents, he starts to loose his humanity & the story gets even cooler.

From Eroica with Love: Like Rupan the Third, if Rupan was gay & Zenigatta was a serious bitchslapping German millitary major. Don't worry, nothing happens between them...it's been 30 years in the making too.

Patalliro: The unexplainable adventures of a strange looking child king. Only shoujo series I've ever read written by a man. The series litterally defies explanation.

Bizenghast: Only good American-made manga I've ever read, & not done in Amerime style. Written by a girl who really likes American McGee's Alice.

Petshop of Horrors/Genjuu no Seiza: ANYTHING written by Matsuri Akino. She weites the most awesome horror-mystery-fantasy blends I've ever read.

Hunter x Hunter: If the man who wrote Yu Yu Hakusho had created Dragonball, this would be it. It's been my favorite shounen series for almost a decade & is still being serialized.

GetBackers: If you like Hunter x Hunter, you'll like GetBackers, & vice versa. A story about 2 homeless orphaned teenagers with special powers who will get back any stolen or lost object for large sums of money, or die trying.

DNAngel: School boy by day, black angel thief by night.

LiLing-Po: Like Rupan III as a child, but in Old China.

Vampire Game: A princess & her shapeshifting vampire pet reek havok in a fantasy set world & have to clean up a huge mess her family started long ago.

Sorcerer Hunters: Another Dungeons & Dragons style story with a huge slew of messed-up characters.

Ouran Highschool Host Club: Comedy about a plain looking poor girl who gets a scholarship to a rich kids school, is mistaken for a boy, breaks an expencive vase, & is forced to work as a host for a ladies' club with the weirdest boys in school.

3X3 eyes: An ancient demon with a split personality & her zombie boyfriend.

Gals! The comic saga of a feisty Kogal who wants to live life her way, refuses to inherit the family job, has a monkey for a boyfriend, friends with family problems, & an embarassing little sister who fancies herself as a detective.

Chibi Vampire: A comedy about a weird looking boy & a vampire who GIVES blood & suffers from massive nose bleeds. Ooh. I know what anime I'm watching tonight...

Peach Girl: A modern day version of the Marmalade Boy drama, but with a Kogal as the main character. One of those "ten thousand love triangles" stories.

Well, that's about 1/90th of what I own. I own several thousand dollars worth of manga, which is a given since they're $10 apiece, less if they're still in Japanese.

Quizes from the Vine.

WHO AM I: Matches well with She Hulk by 0%, poorly with Wonder Woman at -75%, & 0% with Xena, Spider Girl, & Ms. Marvel. Go fig. If I was a guy it would be Thor, matching at 0%, an additional 0% for Hal Jordan, Spider Ham, & Thing, -68.8% Captain America & Iron Man, -52.6% Spiderman & Moon Knight.

Who I wanted to be: Uhh, I'll get back with you on that....

DATING GAME: Questions were too irrelivant, except the ones about body breadth & hair length.

Who I wanted: Gambit, Wolverine, the Joker, the Mad Hatter, Mr. Sinister, Magneto, Anarky, an atheist Nightcrawler, & postapocolyptic Archangel. If gay, I'd go with Mystique or Poison Ivy. Yup, I like em blue.

JOIN A TEAM: Who cares? I scored -80% on two I would have actually wanted to join :(

Who I wanted: Xavier's Institute or Arkham Asylum, Magneto's possy, Joker's Boys, or hang out with the Mad Hatter as an excse to dress up like American McGee's Alice.
