Top 30 villains we could see as the big baddies in phase 4 and beyond

With the end of the 11years long Thanos story arc in the MCU, most of us are thinking about what will come next as the big threat for the MCU. Here are my top picks.

List items

  • We have met him already in the first instalment for Doctor Strange, and he is definitively a Thanos-level threat. It is a real possibility that Dormammu might be the next big threat that will require Earth's mightiest heroes to assemble.

  • The fan-favourite for the next MCU phase, Kang is a dangerous time-travelling villain. He could mean a lot of trouble for the Avengers.

  • With Disney's acquisition of Fox, Annihilus is now a serious possibility as a universe-level threat. The Annihilation storyline has shown that it is nearly impossible to stop his gigantic army.

  • This villain of the F4 is often referred as the "Best Comic Book Villain", however, he has always been quite bad when depicted in movies. This brilliant scientist and master of the dark magic can really reliable and interesting when well-written (Secret Wars by J. Hickman for instance).

  • Do I need to explain this one, other than he comes with the Fox package to Disney?

  • The end of the Multiverse. Quite a big bad villain if they want to go further once they have introduced the Galactus concept.

  • Maybe too similar to Thanos, Magus is often his partner in crime. He is the evil version of Adam Warlock and he is a universal threat.

  • Teased in All Hail The King, the Mandarin would be an incredible villain to introduce, for real this time!

  • A very obvious villain to bring with the X-Men franchise in the MCU.

  • And the introduction of Magneto should lead a few movies later to Onslaught, one of the most powerful threat of the Marvel universe.

  • If Marvel was doing a "House of M"-like storyline, Scarlet Witch could be a very sad but powerful antagonist.

  • One of the most villainous human beings with low-level powers, Norman Osborn might be the next big villain for a few movies.

  • This demon is usually used as the Marvel's equivalent to the biblical Satan. He could be an interesting mystical threat.

  • She is often mentioned as a potential future big baddy for the MCU.

  • I would personally rather see him in a solo movie, but he could be a great villain for a Black Panther movie.

  • I know he "died" in Avengers 3, but this character is so good in the comics (he betrays Thanos and remains unpunished about it) I would love to see more of him.

  • This character is often quoted as one of the potential next big villain of the MCU.

  • A future tyrannic version of the Hulk, Maestro is a very intelligent, violent and powerful villain. It would be an interesting twist to have a story arc leading the Hulk to transform into a Maestro-like personality for the other heroes to fight against.

  • Another powerful demonic villain from Doctor Strange and arguably even more powerful than Dormammu, Shuma-Gorath would also bring the concept of Cancerverse.

  • A powerful but candid being from beyond our reality, could be a great introduction for a Secret Wars (by Hickman) storyline.

  • Already teased in the MCU, the Celestial are beings of unbelievable power. A Celestial Host could be the big bad event to prevent for the heroes.

  • One of the most powerful warriors, and a member of the Elders of the Universe, the Champion's thirst for conflict might bring some interesting storylines to the MCU.

  • A very obscure but powerful foe of the Marvel universe.

  • A malevelent Elder God. He could be a nice threat to bring to introduce the concepts of Elder Gods in the MCU.

  • Maybe they will consider using the Rulk transformation for General Ross in the future, however, he is quite a military-type villain/anti-hero, and the MCU might want to go more in a cosmic or mystical direction for the next baddies, sor it's quite unlikely that we will see the Red Hulk anytime soon unfortunately.

  • The Sentry is one of the most powerful heroes of Marvel Comics, but he comes with one of the most powerful foes, his dark side, the Void.

  • It would take to introduce Blue Marvel. Anti-Man is well known to be a threat against who the classic Avenger roster is often helpless.

  • A very powerful mutan, secret brother of Cyclops and Havoc, and related to the secret origin of the second iteration of the X-Men team.

  • He might come back at some point, who knows?

  • Same thing.
