I like Kylo. His conflict is different from Vader, because he seeks to become Darth Vader. Darth Vader did not seek to become what he was, it was a result of horrendous calamities that where somewhat out of his control.
And for one positive, he has actually succeeded where Vader has not, he has managed to become the new leader of the First Order.
I agree with everything you said about Snoke and the First Order. To expand on the first order, The fact that there is no real backstory and there rise to power in the way the Galactic Empire makes them seem completely contrived. What annoys me even more is that there was no explanation on how the Rebels went from rebuilding the Republic to being on the brink of anhilliation "again" makes them seem
I've always had a soft spot for "insectivores", as I used to see Hedgehogs where I used to live, although my favorite types are probably the solenodons :).
Also on a related note I am certain I got bit again a few days ago by an Assassin bug as I had swollen lumps on my neck and lip. I think it must have been the 3rd I've bitten by them in the past few years
Great issue as always.
Also much felicitations on your engagement. I will you many happy years :)
Cool breakdown. Stipe is the man.
Fantastic work man :)
First off Welterweight is traditionally thought as one of the deepest Division and it has no "Elite fighters "?
I think its hilarious you don't consider Jon Jones or Cruz elite level fighters just because they don't finish enough. They are historically the best fighters to ever step in their respective division. Finishing fights isn't conductive to being elite- winning is. GSP never finished his last few fights, retired as champ and is generally thought of being the GOAT (would you say he is only High Level?)
Also Jon has finished
As well as completely bullied Glover in one of the most one-sided championship matches to go to decision ever.. OSP had nothing for Jones and got his arm broken, and that Jon Jones is the worst Jon Jones we've seen in a long time. Jon absolutely deserves to be called an Elite fighter, as does Daniel Cormier (who's expliots at HW speak for themselves as well as his performances against anybody at LHW not named Jones)
Plus Anthony Johnson went up a weight class to fight Arlo (its pretty obvious his best weight-class is LHW now), won the fight and broke arlo's jaw. If anything, that should make his credentials of being elite even stronger.
Out of interest who are your Elite HW's? I'm certain Stipe is one of them. And what do you class as old? And what about FLW?
Cute little drunkard :p
Polycheates either amazing me with their beauty or scare the bejesus out of me with little in between :p. One thing though, I though most them had defined genders while the Oligocheates (Earthworms) and Hirundea (Leeches I might be wrong with the wording) where Hermaphrodites. Or are you talking about none annelid worms too, like Flatworms?
I would say you should mention Lewis. He keeps on getting wins, despite having obvious holes in his game. And he's actually beaten a top ten opponent in Roy Nelson, who was ranked at 10 at the time of their fight. Heavyweight is one of those division where having heavy-hands instantly makes you a threat even if other areas of your game are lacking, and Derricks' ground and pound is otherwise very scary. If he carries on the way he is. he'll most likely be a Roy Nelson-esque character, popular with hardcore fans and milling around the lower reaches of the top ten, or he can move camps and improve to reach the Arloski, Barnett, Browne tier (especially as the first two age). Francis is definitely the more exciting, physically gifted, but he's also more inexperienced fighter and his CV isn't as full as Derrick Lewis', who has beaten at the time, 2 ranked oppenents in Gonzaga and Roy Nelson, all while showing terrible technique in recovering from take-downs (yet still getting up) and gassing. He looked like crap for the first 3 rounds of his last fight but still got the TKO in the 4th. And it doesn't mean that much but he's also been Legacy HW champion.
As for Middleweight, I still think Brunson is still worth a mention. He had two rounds on Romero before he got knocked out, and was on a streak himself before he lost to Whittaker, and both of them really didn't do themselves justice. It was a brawl. But Brunson is big strong and very athletic. I'd say he comes close to Rockhold and Jacare in such regards and is only really outclassed by Romero in that field. I also think you have to talk about Kelvin if you want to mention potentials at Middleweight. Like Whittaker, he has also come from WW, but aside from Weight-Cutting issues, he's looked better then him, making the current champion look kinda average (though losing), and beating Hendricks fairly convincingly. Furthermore, he convincingly beat Tim Kennedy, a top ten Middleweight who has a win over the current champion and pushed Jacare hard in strikeforce. Granted Tim looked tired and full of ring rust, but its still a very good achievement and he wasn't favored in that contest. Also, like Whittaker, he has also beaten Uriah Hall, though this was at TUF. However, he dropped to WW while Uriah stuck at MW. And finally Yoel is a super-athlete, who is IMO the best wrestler in the UFC (Sorry Henry and Daniel). I think he's a prospect simply because he started MMA late. But he certainly fits the description of great athlete with lots of skill. When he decided he wanted to wrestle offensively he ragdolled Chris (and Wrestling is considered one of Weidman's strengths)
Also where is Bisping in all of this? He is the champ afterall, I would usually place him between Tier 1 and 2, but his wins and title run are obviously anomalous to that.
That being said, good thread- what did you think of UFC 206.
