One of the things I most appreciate about you discussing novel characters, is how you try to find similar feats in the shows to use as references to give us a better idea, like in your Yun RT
Great post, Kuruk's masters are underrated as hell
@achillesspawn: Korra's experience is different because as the Avatar she is solely responsible for the entire Avatar cycle, as in the future of the world far beyond her whilst also having to live up to those that preceded her
Ozai isn't a bad villain, hes a great villain to Zuko and Azula,he sickens you because of what he's done to them but just a serviceable one to Aang
Hes a physical threat due to the Comet but his fight with Aang just doesn't feel as impactful as the other finale battles
Ozai and Aang having a connection probably wouldn't work within the story, but it does take away from the fight in my opinion
That coupled with the way Aang defeats him, without having to deal with his moral dilemma makes it just not hit as hard as it should.Aang defeating Ozai should've been the triumph of love and personal honor in the face of overwhelming and unyielding evil, instead it was just:
Aang vs Ozai for a while, then Aang runs away, nearly dies and involuntarily enters the AS, proceeds to stomp Ozai, then take away his bending with an ability he gained in the episode before the last one, his victory doesn't feel earned
I would probably rank him below Kuvira and equal to Unalaq in terms of depth
