This is dead for 7 years now, but what the heck... in 2015 there was a TPB called 2nd Chances, which contained JTs origin.
But as this one is already too out of print it is kinda irrelevant.

Nightwing Year One is therefore still the place to go.

Hi there,

I am pretty deep into reading pre-NEW 52 Batman, with lots of Wonder Woman and Bat-family peppered in, but I was curious to give the MAN OF STEEL a second chance.

I read the 4 trades done by Byrne, and I did not like those to much (I must say that I am one of those that does like the Snyderverse minus the Squad). After rewatching it all, I wanted to give Supes a second chance and read up the most important events and best books (I also watched ca. half the animated movies).

(I read RED SON - luv'd it, but this is not something what I am looking for atm)

I decided, that this time around I am going to replace the Byrne books with Birthright and obiously I want to read the new trades on the DEATH OF SUPERMAN. But what else would you guys and gals sugest, maybe you have a list.

I am mostly looking for stuff that is canon, is an important event (or plainly one effin good book) and happens between one of his origins and his death (and is presently in print).

Any sugestions?

It seems to me top cow has redefined their direction with Matt Hawkins writing almost 80% of everything, and he does seem not to be into big universes... he is kinda more interested in modern day topics, like military technology (Think Tank), Society (Postal), science (Wildfire) and religious stuff (Tithe).
He is a really good author and the new direction is sad for the loyal following BUT the Aphrodite IX and Generation IX series is great, and the top cow universe will be rebooted AGAIN with Switch by Sejic who is writing the amazing Sunstone and Death Vigil.

So I do not think Top Cow is collapsing on itself... it rather outgrows its past direction and moves to other stuff. (Even further away from the unjustly called T&A days). Those who actually READ Witchblade and Darkness will HAVE to agree, that the amount of T&A over a period of 20 years was not that big to justify that reputation.

What happened to Ron Marz? Wasn't he in charge of the relaunch?

This reminds me of all the BS movies in the planned and canned Spider-verse...

Oh Sony... you are so ruined... just sell the movie division to Disney, cause you have no idea what to do with those properties...

Late reply, but better late than never :D

I would suggest to pick up the Witchblade Origins Trades (Vol.1-Vol.3) and Darkness Origin Trades (Vol.1-Vol.4)... after these, there was a lot of nonsense (fun nonessential nonsense) that you might want to skip in order to get to the good stuff...

I also would recommend the trades Magdalena Origins Volume 1 and 2 and Tom Judge Rupture.

And then we get to the really good stuff... meaning the Witchblade Volume 1 to Volume 7 (all by Ron Marz) and the Artifacts Origins Trade.
All this comes to a close with Witchblade Redemption Vol 1 to Vol 4 and Artifacts Vol 1 to Vol 3.

After This you have the Rebirth Event where one of the Top Cow heroes makes a mess of the universe... also a great read...

If you want a very detailed reading order... check my 3 lists chronologing the Top Cow universe link.
