I think Marvel did that on purpose. I think they'll make him prominent again closer to Infinity War, that way the comicbook Thanos would more closely parallel the MCU Thanos.
I hate it when they do that, they make the comic book characters the movies are based on to resemble there movie counterparts?? Damn!
It's part of the reason why I stopped reading so many Marvel titles this year. Disney knows the movies are a cash cow so they're making them more important than the comics.
Marvel's whole selling point over DC was how diverse and well developed their characters were, but now all the dialogue seems like it came out of a whedonite quiip-press. The people hit worst by it were the GotG and X-Men.
When Thanos shows back up I wouldn't expect him to be a fraction as strong as he previously was. He'll probably be brought down to someone like Gladiator's level (who is still pretty incredible), but I figure most of his durability, telepathy, strength, and wealth of hax powers will be cut out so it would make sense how he'll be beaten by the Avengers in Infinity War, and he'll just be another MCU-generic villain. Heck, the Infinity Gauntlet might not even be universal anymore, and be brought down to a cosmic cube type artifact with numerous of them floating about.
I don't know.. maybe I'm just being too critical, but the writing in Marvel books has been going down steadily, and the dialogue is difficult to swallow in a lot of titles now. I'm up for new ideas, but the characterization of the characters just seems off now, and entirely one dimensional. Which I guess is to make them more palatable to new readers, I just miss the dynamic nature of Marvel comics.

Lord... the nitpickers are here. Yes the story is has TINY problems, but it's not even over yet. Just enjoy the story, then judge it. This story is going to be one of those where everything will make sense at the end.
I agree with you, people are being harshly critical with this book
