I like introducing younger children to comics. When I started working as a tutor for k-8 I was surprised to see how many kids didn't even know comics were still in print. Not only were a bunch of kids exposed to a new hobby, but the experience broadened my own horizons. I probably wouldn't have picked up an issue of Tiny Titans if I wasn't looking for an easier read for the kids, but now I can't put it down!
I would have to agree that the Eisner Awards is the most popular. The Bill Finger Awards, the Eagle Awards, and the Inkpot Award are other awards/ ceremonies that you might be interested in.
The local comic shop stopped carrying Infernus T.T I only managed to issue 3, but I loved where it was going. I really need to start subscribing straight from the company.
I started school with the intent of one day becoming an inker- but man, have I fallen in love with coloring. Although, I would just be happy working with Grant Morrison on any project. And I mean any project- comics aren't necessary. If he needs help re-tiling his bathroom I'll be there.
