a little help here!

So I'm kind of new to Comic Vine and while I think I'm making great progress I have no idea how to take this stupid 'hasn't updated recently.' thing off. Can someone please help?

Superman and the Metropolitan Gods

Hey I just wanted you guys that I've started a fan-fic story on the forum Superman and the Metropolitan Gods, check it out it's been getting good comments.

And for you guys reading it I'll be writing the entire backstory in the upcoming chapter.

Emotion

The one thing I love in comic books is that while people who don't read them think it's all about colorful pictures and action scenes they never get to see the emotion that plays out inside the pages. When you ever read one there is always going to be some sort of emotion that a character experiences no matter how small, and I love to feel something for that character as it happens. There's just something about it, maybe a catharsis at the end that makes you feel good about it all or something that will just make you want to travel forward to the next month to read the next issue. If you want a good example, Hawkman and Hawkgirl being separated during Brightest Day, that part was just amazingly played out. I know I'm sounding like a bit of a sap but it was good to write about this.

Which Batman Incorporated character needs his or her own book?

So far we've gotten a lot of reintroductions to past characters due to Grant Morrison's run on Batman. My question is, who deserves their own book, (mini or ongoing).

We've already gotten these characters-

  • Knight and Squire (mini)
  • Batwing (ongoing)
  • ...and that's it.

There is tons of different characters and teams that have a lot of potential- if you need any suggestions to get you started I'll list them below and link them-

Personally, I think The Hood could get his own book and maybe a book with both Cassandra and Stephanie as partners?

Food for thought, tell what you think.

Red Hood getting an Arsenal story

One of my favorite books that I have on my pull list is Red Hood and the Outlaws. My reason for this is because the storyline's don't focus on just one character but all three. But so far we've had the storyline's have central characters to revolve around- Jason for the first storyline (with a sub plot for Starfire), a mini storyline for the Court of Owls, a storyline revolving around Starfire (what is the Thirteen!?), and now once again a storyline revolving around Jason for 'Death of The Family'. My question is when are we going to get an Arsenal storyline? We've already gotten a little tid-bit of a story during the first few issues and he's been the major storyteller during the Starfire story, but there is so much undiscovered potential for Arsenal that I would kill to see put out in the Red Hood book.

Also, I haven't read the Green Arrow zero issue so I was just wondering what mention Roy's had in there. Comments below would be good.

Scott Lobdell's writing style

A lot of people like to say how they don't really care for the way that Scott writes his characters and the wordy dialogue they have, I just want to make a point.

Superman Issue 0 saw a return to Krypton for a brief day in the life of Jor-El. Now while I thought this was a killer issue, I could see the wordy dialogue coming into play as the issue went on. Well, think about it this way- English isn't the native language of Krypton, which is a given, so what we read is a general translation from Kryptonian to English, which makes a lot of since I would guess.

Another thing that I would guess people wouldn't like about the 13th issue is the way that Kara came in and started arguing with Kal without either of the two noticing H'el standing above them. What I see in this is kind of a movie scene, two characters are busy talking to each other to notice the shadow clad monster standing behind them with it's jaw dripping with saliva. So this is kind of a good stroke with Scott, he gives us a nice little cliff hanger to open up with in the next issue, but that's just my idea.

So that's just my way of getting through Scott's writing, it's all in the way you look at it. :/

My thoughts on Superman and the making of a good comic for him

A lot of people like to make the argument that Clark Kent is the disguise for Superman, Superman is the disguise for Clark Kent, and that both are actually disguises for the real Clark or Kal-El. Well really, there is no right answer for that. My reason for that being that comic books don't have the same writer for all time, writers go in, tell their story, get out, and set up for the next writer to come in, so there is never just one interpretation for who is who for the character Superman. So here's the genius in all of that: in a Superman comic, or any comic in-particular, there is a main character, a main villain and a supporting cast. For Superman, Superman can either fall into the main character slot, or move over into the supporting cast to make room for Clark as the main character. Clark's a journalist, and if you asked any journalist they'll tell you it's not all about listening to someone talk and then type it down, sometimes you have to fight to get the truth, a good example of that being Lois Lane. Personally, I would really like to see Clark taking center stage to get to a story and then bring in Superman just to get some action in (tastefully of course). Now since we're on supporting cast, why not have a really good sub-plot for the cast? In The Flash we see so many sub-plots it's not even funny, and look how good that works! Why not instead of just having a little dialogue here and a thought bubble there that we get more in-depth with the supporters that could spice up the issue? And then there's also this goldmine of story's you could tell about Krypton and the aliens that were involved with them (which we saw in Superman Earth One). You don't need to try to make up a human super villain that gets powers if you can go into Superman's heritage. I don't know, that's just my opinion...

Leave comments to let me know what you would like to see in a Superman comic.

H'el and his possible ties

Ever since I knew about the new Superman Storyline "H'el on Earth", something immediately clicked with me that I don't think a lot of people saw, the only thing I did see people take notice of was how H'el's name sounded like "hell" and how they thought that was a little bit redundant. I never was able to start off from the bat and say what I thought, but now I can.

Now then, H'el, H'el, H'.......EL!!! Thank you, I just really had to get that off of my chest
