My friend and I were discussing this and he suggested I turn to the board and see what others think of this topic. Now this is my first thread so bear with me.
Now suspending all disbelief, lets say the 616 is an actual thriving world, where the average person has to deal with mutants, sentinels and such. During time of crisis, people often turn to their religion for some semblance of peace. Now not only do all powerful mutants and the occasional alien walk amongst the common man, so do the gods of old. Thor, Loki, Hercules, they make the 6 o'clock news, they save the planet repeatedly, So, my question is, why doesnt the common man turn to Asgardian shrines, plea to the Olympians of old to help them their personal situations? The 616 seems to mirror our own very closely when it comes to the matter of religion. We've seen characters become catholic priests, like Nightcrawler, we've seen the jewish faith repesented by Magneto and Shadowcat, Captain Britain and M13 even had a woman of the Muslim faith. Now, personally, I'm agnostic, but if I watched Thor call lightening and save some lives, then you bet your butt, I'd have a shrine to all of Asgard in my backyard, what about you guys?
