PERSONALITY

Kaiden’s usual personality is that of a man who is almost always serious, rarely smiles and does not see the point in joking around. He has the look of a man who has seen the worst in people but still believes in the good they can accomplish. He has seen the reality of war also and it has taken it’s toll on Kaiden’s mind. Still, he has an inner resolve most might find impressive. There is also an intense loneliness about him, as if he has suffered more than his fair share of lost loved ones. Lastly, he has a habit of keeping others at arms length and does not make friends easily.

SKILLS & OTHER ABILITIES

EQUIPMENT

Body Armor: Kaiden usually wears some form of body armor that helps deflect blaster bolt fire, ballistic weaponry, bladed weaponry, limited lightsaber resistance and the ability to absorb impacts from great heights. It has a limited modular design, which allows Kaiden to shape shift into simple humanoid forms. Changing into a woman, for example, would mean his armor would conform to Kaiden’s new shape and be a perfect fit. More extreme shapes, such as a dog or a bird, would require Kaiden to remove his armor before assuming such extreme shapes. Thanks to the modular design of his armor, it can assume the look of almost any armor or suit of clothing desired. The armor also has a heating and cooling design feature. In hot climates, the armor activates it's cooling systems to keep Kaiden nice and cool. In cold climates, the armor activates it's heating systems to keep Kaiden nice and warm.

Lightsaber: With the exception of the rare occasion, Kaiden is never without his Lightsaber. And his is a most unique weapon. Using an extremely rare crystal from his homeworld, Kaiden is able to change the color of the blade of his Lightsaber with the touch of a button. The color chosen is done by focusing with the Force and the color Kaiden wishes before pressing a button on his Lightsaber. The default color is blue with a white core.

Like his armor, Kaiden’s lightsaber also has a modular design. By focusing on his lightsaber, Kaiden can use the Force to activate it’s modular technology and assume a different shape so it will look like a different lightsaber. This ability is extremely limited in the fact that only the shapes of other lightsabers can be taken, including double bladed lightsabers.

Utility Belt: Kaiden usually wears a utility belt that is filled with amazing gadgets such as: tear gas grenades, flashbang grenades, sleeping gas grenades, smoke pellets, throwing stars, credit chit for money transactions, mini holographic projectors and much more.

HISTORY

Like most babies recognized to be Force-sensitive, Kai’Den Zaal was found to have tremendous Force potential, so much so that the Jedi who sensed it thought Kai’Den was a Jedi Master but to his surprise, the Force potential was coming from a baby. Taken away from his family, Kai’Den was raised, and trained, to be a Jedi.

Early in Kai’Den’s training, the Jedi Grandmaster of the Jedi Council recognized the youngling to have the potential to become a Jedi Manhunter. This elite group of Jedi Knights were known only to a very select few among the Jedi order. The Jedi Manhunters, put simply, operated as the Black Ops division of the Jedi order. Often undertaking missions that were ordinarily suicide missions because they were considered too dangerous even by most Jedi’s. This elite group was normally only reserved for Kai’Den’s particular species, considering their above average Force potential and unique shape shifting abilities allowed them to go deep undercover without being detected. If a Jedi Manhunter was not undertaking a suicide mission, he was often found undercover, gathering information and relaying it to his superiors even as they hunted for their prey, which were almost always Sith Lords and their apprentices. Occasonally, a Jedi Manhunter would be tasked to go undercover to hunt for dangerous gang leaders, politicians or any other exceptionally evil, and powerful, force that threatened entire worlds or whole galaxies.

When Kai’Den began his Manhunter training, he did not stop his ordinary Jedi training. However, he was sworn to secrecy regarding his new status and because of this, his new Manhunter training made him appear to progress much faster than the rest of the students, making them struggle with jealousy. This soon became a problem when one student nearly fell to the dark side and Kai’Den was taken away to continue his training under a private tutor and master.

--The Apprentice

For years, Kai’Den studied, trained and fought alongside another Jedi Manhunter who was his tutor, teacher, friend and master. Because she was a woman, Kai’Den secretly looked up to her as his mother. When his master found out about this, Kai’Den was given a harsh lesson about not forming personal attachments. A lesson he learned and has never forgotten. Thanks to this lesson, it has contributed to Kai’Den inability to form friendships easily.

The years Kai’Den spent as an apprentice were spent in training in all the forms of lightsaber combat, unarmed combat in various styles of martial arts, using various Force techniques in the most effective, efficient, way possible. The training was often long, tedious, repetitive and exausting. It all had one singular purpose: to become a master of what he was taught. Whenever his training was relaxed, Kai’Den enjoyed being tutored in history, lore, math, various languages, philosphy and various other classes that helped develop a well rounded education.

A few years into his training, Kai’Den was finally allowed to accompany his master on her missions and rarely left her side. His training never ended, however, as she was constantly teaching even while doing a mission. She always called it, “Training on the field.”

Kai’Den was also taught only to bring what he needed on missions, not what he wanted. What he did not need, he was either to leave behind or throw it away. There was no room for objects of sentimentality or that did not have some useful function. He was also on a very strict diet, eating only the foods that brought him the greatest amount of nutrients and avoiding those that did not. He was basically taught to eat in order to survive and never live to eat.

--The War for Kalor

Kai’Den saw his first war when the Zicarians invaded his world. Vicious brutes that took no prisoners and had overwhelming numbers. Despite being highly outnumbered, the Kalorians managed to hold off the invading forces for at least a few years. But the war was not turning out very well and the Kalorians were losing it.

Kai’Den’s real test came when the Captain of a space cruiser was killed and his master critically injured, leaving the young Apprentice the only commanding officer aboard the ship. Finding himself in command, Kai’Den found himself surrounded by a superior force and demanding their surrender of a powerful weapon that could turn the tide of the war. In a series of brilliant feints, cat and mouse games and tactical maneuvering, Kai’Den turned the tide and defeated the enemy, proving himself to have a natural talent for strategic thinking and warefare. After his master had recovered, she saw the only hope this war had and immediately promoted Kai’Den as General of the Kalorian forces. This was not done without heavy protest from the people of Kalor, however, as they deemed Kai’Den far too young and inexperienced in matters of war.

It was at this time that Kai’Den’s master declared his training complete and he was made into a full Jedi Knight and Manhunter.

Because of Kai’Den’s youth and inexperience, his position as General of the Kalorian forces was constantly challenged. The war needlessly dragged on for a few more years before Kai’Den would finally prove he was the right choice to be General.

During those few years, Kai’Den was sent to a series of small skirmishes with the enemy, mostly to see if he could replicate his success on a smaller scale and when facing an enemy that did not outnumber him. Kai’Den and his former master thought this was a waste of time and of his talents. Nevertheless, Kai’Den proved just as capable in small skirmishes with the enemy as he had been in that large scale victory he had gained a few years earlier.

The war had finally hit a breaking point. It was either time to win it or lose. There was no further room for debate and Kai’Den was finally able to take full command of the Kalorian forces with little resistance. Through the course of a year, Kai’Den achieved victory after victory, using every brilliant military tactic he could think of and inventing a few of his own along the way. He did not win every battle, but he did win the ones that truly mattered. He even went so far as to intentionally lose a few battles just to gain a much larger victory later. Kai’Den was frustrating his opponents at every turn until finally the Zicarians declared their full and unconditional surrender.

The young Kai’Den had become a war hero and was celebrated as such. Everyone wanted to meet him, but all the attention was of little use to the young military General and withdrew from the public eye. It did not matter to the people of Kalor, however, because they still honored him as their hero. Kai’Den would go down in their history books, along with his military tactics, which became necessary learning material in all military academies.

--Betrayal and the Destruction of Kalor

It was not long after the war that Kai’Den would feel the sting of betrayal. Stories of the slaughter of the Jedi Council reached Kalor and shook him and his people to the core. Every Jedi Manhunter was gathered in a meeting of war to dicuss what had happened and what to do about it, but this was a trap. Sensing it too late, the Jedi Manhunters found themselves fighting their own as half of them revealed to have fallen to the dark side. The fighting was so fierce, it layed to waste the Jedi Conclave on Kalor with both sides suffering extreme losses.

Kai’Den found himself fighting against those he trusted, having no choice but defend himself and then retaliate with attacks of his own. Thanks to his training, will and resolve, he survived and managed to dispatch the traitors in his path. Unfortunately, he soon found himself standing alone with no allies as they were killed in the thick of battle. And the only ‘ally’ that stood with him was his old master, but even that was not to be as she betrayed him by literally stabbing him in the back with a thrust from her lightsaber. As he lay dying, she briefly explained to him why she did it, why she betrayed him. After that, Kai’Den was left for dead, never to see his old master again for a long time after that incident.

Thanks to his cellular regeneration, Kai’Den held onto his life and managed to make his way to a ship and take off just before the destruction of his home planet, Kalor. Before losing consciousness, Kai’Den sent out a distress call and it was picked up by a passing cargo freighter. There, he was able to regroup and assess his new situation.

At this point, Kai’Den took a new name, Kaiden Hawke. As he recovered from his ordeal, he knew that he was now the last Jedi Manhunter. His people were not all dead, as some were scattered throughout the galaxy and living on other worlds. But he now belonged to a species that was on the edge of extinction.

Kaiden vowed he would hunt down every last traitor that turned their backs on him and the Jedi Manhunters. Doing a bit of research, he learned these traitors were now either Sith Lords or trying to become one. Either way, they were evil to the core and due to their training, nearly impossible to stop by most ordinary Jedi. It was up to him, the last of a dying breed.

For the last five years, Kaiden has used his shape shifting ability and Force powers to find, and confront four of the traitors. Having killed some and imprisoned the others, Kaiden now hunts for, what he believes is, his old master and her new apprentice. Someday, soon, Kaiden will see justice done for what was done to him and his people and he will stop at nothing until he achieves his goal.

The few Sith Lords that remain out of the Jedi Manhunters know that they are being systematically hunted down one by one. Some live in fear, although they will never admit it, and some gladly welcome the challenge of being found before trying, in vain, to kill the last Jedi Manhunter. As for Kaiden’s former master, she is getting more and more desperate with each Sith Lord her former apprentice takes out. It won’t be long before she gets so desperate that she will confront Kaiden herself in an attempt to take his life. Kaiden is counting on this and is ready to have a confrontation with his former master. Only then will they both know who is better, and more poweful, than the other.
