A rag tag team of street level fighters assembled to teach and train each other to better hone their skills. Pulling their talents, they would form a team of more locally based heroes who defend the Earth from smaller threats and evil plots.

You do one...you gotta do the other. In this version, Damion's death compels Batman to organize a more focused team of heroes down on Earth, who operate solely from the League and handle lesser evils.

Roland's Video Game Legion 2
If anyone has played Kingdom Hearts or seen Wreck it Ralph, that's pretty much the idea here. All the virtual worlds of video games would be mashed together, the heroes of each game pairing together to bring their worlds back to balance.
