Why do you people still buy and read event comics? I'm pretty sure it just to have something to complain about.....

Also, that is some horrible art! The perspective, the poses, the faces, the body proportions, good grief! Cassaday just keeps getting worse. I imagine that in a couple of years his art will be nothing but ink blots. Dude, I understand that going from drawing Warren Ellis stories to doing this pap is a big step down, but show some pride in your work!
@aros001: I honestly think anyone who follows this character would have seen it coming years ago based on how her character was being developed. Logan losing his healing factor then dying would have just locked it up. It's probably the most logical legacy pass Marvel implemented.

Anyone who knows Laura should know that she and Logan were never close. They barely interacted when he was alive. In fact, Marvel seemed to go out of their way to keep them apart. Remember when Wolverine was running the school and, instead of atending there, Laura was in the Avengers Academy? What sense did that make?
There's no reason for Laura to do this. Yeah, she and Logan share some DNA. So what? Besides that, he's just a guy she barely met, who was a dick to her in about half the times they interacted.
In fact, if she actually knew Logan, she would know that picking up the mantle is not something he would want. He doesnt see himself as a good hero and he wouldnt like anyone to emulate him.

They barely interacted AFTER she went to Avengers Academy and even there they got some time together. Prior to that they were on the same team (X-Force) from Messiah to Second Coming and after THAT he appeared in 3 out of 4 of the arcs in her solo which showed that he adopted (or at least suggested adopting) her and, incidentally, explained why she chose to go to Avengers Academy over the Jean Grey School or Utopia.
Also in Avengers Arena, at one point, he explains why he's so hands-off with her AND that he still kind of kept tabs on her. In fact the only time they seemed to be forcefully kept apart, for no reason, was during Bendis' X-men run where he completely threw away the fact that Wolverine took her back to the Jean Grey School after Avengers Arena.
That's just interaction. Not counting Academy X (he's the reason she returned to Xavier's) or the handful of Uncanny issues she was in back in the day.

Being a dick is part of Logan's personality, everybody knows that. So is having a complicated relationship with his children (her and Daken). If you couldn't figure out what their relationship actually was based on their other interactions in X-Force or X-23, where you get probably the best interactions and fleshing out of their relationship, or... nearly anything else she's been in because there is almost always a Logan appearance or some mention of their relationship then frankly, I don't know what to tell you.
Point is, not only have they had a pretty decent amount of interaction over the years, but the relationship that they have has been fleshed out quite a bit more than you seem to realize. She's his daughter and Logan is... kind of a crappy father but he is her father and he had pretty much accepted that role a long time ago.

Which is why she's still pretty much being herself, just in his uniform. SOMEONE is going to be Wolverine, because Marvel. It makes more sense for her to carry on in his place than to have it be Daken (who would likely corrupt his image even further) or someone else (because someone would eventually).

Their interaction during X-Force was limited to Logan giving her orders. Logan didn't treat her diferently than any other member of the team, who he lead like they were soldiers in a suicide mission and nothing more. K&Y's X-Force was many things: Warm and fuzzy and filled with touching character interactions weren't between those things.
Nothing changed or evolved in Logan and Laura's relationship, that book, except maybe that it became a litle colder.
Logan did have some appearances in her solo (making him the 3rd most important character to Laura in that book, a veeeeeeeeeery long distance behind Jubilee and Gambit) and two good emotional moments.
And that's it! In more or less a decade, Laura had 3 moments of meaningfull interaction with Logan: Those two in her solo and one in her second mini, when they meet for the first time. That's it! That's the extent of their suposed father-daughter relationship, that made her so sad when he died and inspired her to take up his (inexistent, buy the way) mantle. Are you kidding me?!!!
Here's, just from the top of my head, a few characters that had more meaningfull interation with Logan in that period:
Cyclops, Captain America, Luke Cage, Spiderman, Storm, Shadowcat, Jubilee, Nightcrawler (even though he spent several years of that decade dead), Collossus, Charles Xavier, Idie, Quentin Quire (why?), Thor, Deadpool, Rogue, Hawkeye (godamnit!!).
And this is just a tiny sample. Feel free to provide your own examples. Open a Marvel Handbook in a random page and chances are you'll find one!

Let me guess: It was variant of the uber-tired: "She needs space from me." "She needs to do her own thing." "She's better off away from me."
Eat a dick, Marvel! If they're so much better apart and not having any relationship, then she can't be the next Wolverine.
It's one or the other:
1) They're great apart, she doesnt need him and she should be doing her own thing.
2) They're close, in wich case WRITE STORIES WHERE THEY INTERACT, INSTEAD OF ANOTHER GODAMN CROSSOVER WITH STEVE ROGERS!!!!!!

Then, she's not Wolverine. Dick Grayson's Batman was not the same as Bruce Wayne's Batman, but he was still Batman, he was not Nightwing. If she's just going to dress up and call herself Wolverine, the critics of this book are right: She's not Wolverine.

No, nobody needs to be Wolverine. It doesnt make any sense storywise and it also doesnt make any economical sense. LOGAN sold as Wolverine. Laura doesnt. If Taillor was in a real Wolverine book with these sales, he would've gotten fired long ago

It doesnt change the impression I've been geting from the movie since news from it started coming.
It looks boring, cheap and stupid. And the pretentious atempt at looking deep and dramatic with "Hurt" only makes it look cheesier.
Man, I hope this movie is being misrepresented and and this is just a bad trailer, because the last thing I want for Hugh Jackman's last time as Wolverine is a stupid OML-Decimation-X-23 mashup.
Unfortunately, that's what it seems we're getting.
@ambaryerno: Well, if we're going to be fair, we can allways point out that having a character appear in your book just to make him look bad is a cheap shot. When that character is a rival to yours for the position of next Wolverine and he's more popular, that's even cheaper!

This is one of the series, i've really been enjoying... the art is great and i really get that old school wolverine vibe to it. reminds of SOME of the 90s wolvy comics. hopefully this series continues.

@ambaryerno: First of all, with many of those characters, the original character is still there. Carol Danvers fans have no reason to be bothered by Kamala Khan, because Carol is still around, in a more important role in the MU than she ever had before. They didnt had their favorite character castrated and then killed in a stupid accident, so their opinion means nothing to me.

You know what I feel about the diferences between the current Ghost Rider and the previous one? Apathy! That's what I feel about that. You want opinions about those characters, ask their fans.
