Josh Mardon (also known as Josh Jackham) is the son of the Weather Wizard, and policewoman Julie Jackham. Weather Wizard was not aware of his son. Julie was killed by the Cicada cult, and Josh was given to Detective Chyre for temporary care. It was then that Josh started to develop weather powers. Alerted of Josh's existence by Blacksmith, Weather Wizard came to claim his son. He was stopped by the Flash, and Josh went to live with Iris Allen. Later, Josh was kidnapped by Libra. If Weather Wizard did not make the Rogues join the Secret Society, Libra would kill Josh. A standoff ensued. Fed up, Inertia, at the time Kid Zoom, apparently killed Josh by snapping his fingers. But that was not the end for Josh.

Welcome to the Vine

Josh was actually sent through a portal to the Vine Universe. He materialized on the outskirts of Vermont. Scared and hungry, he started to cry, and a thunderstorm brewed. Josh was found by Romulus who had gone to investigate the strange weather. Not wanting to abandon the child like he had been abandoned, Romulus took him in. Now Josh lives with Romulus, and stacks blocks (his favorite past time) almost all day.

Future Josh

My name is Josh Mardon, and chances are very good that today will be my last day on Earth. Of course, my life has always been that way. I'm not from around here. I cheated death, ended up in a parallel universe. That was more than thirty years ago, when the world was still a beacon of hope. It was the kind of place where a several thousand year old lycan would adopt a child he found in the woods. Yeah, I was raised by Romulus. The one who founded Rome. Is there any other? Well, trouble was brewing even then. Tiny tot though I was, I remember the concern that would cross Romulus' gray features when he'd bring news of the Infinity Gems or some new villains gambit for power. I didn't think about it much then, all of life was like that. It always was. When your father is a super-villain, it can be hard to know what normality really is. But am I getting ahead of myself?

As I was saying, my father was Mark Mardon, the Weather Wizard. Due to some events he got involved in I was kidnapped, and killed by a little brat named Inertia. No, not killed. Transported. Here. Found by Romulus, taught the ways of the wolves and the weather. Lucky for me too, I had one of the best teachers I ever could have had. Romulus saw a lot, bless his soul. He didn't make it, sacrificed himself for me when I was careless in my mission. I buried him under Rome. He'll return someday, but I doubt I'll live to see it. I'll fall like the others. The others being all those who once stood in the path of this world's power. Final Arrow. No one ever really knew what he could do until it was much too late. Veritas were the first to fall. Base leveled, them still in it. Oh, but one survived. The Starheart, which would have been better off dead. Final Arrow could have finished it off easy, but he wanted it for something more. Do you know how much power there is in a star? Well, Final Arrow does, and now that power is fueling his army. I don't think the Starheart has a mind anymore. Just another power source.

The fall of Veritas really riled up the heroes. Vine Titans and Wolf Pack were almost immediately on the scene. Titans were slaughtered, Wolf Pack too. No, that's not quite right. Some of the Wolf Pack survived, but barely. Portrait, that painted one, she got away. Fled for the Painted World. And she's not coming back. Knows if she so much as shows her face she won't get away again. Not that there's much art she could use now anyways.

With the main players out of the way Final Arrow just picked off the rest like bugs. A few tried to fight. Most Arrow just killed right then and there. A few weren't so lucky. There was a Russian meta, I don't remember his name. Part of the WAL. He thought he was untouchable, tried to take Arrow head on. Arrow only laughed, and had him publicly executed. He made everyone watch. I didn't know a single human had so much blood...

Well, after that my path was clear. No matter what I'm up against it can't be worse than what I've already seen. But if there is any time to be wrong, it would be today. We've got to make a stand soon, or we will just be picked off one by one. So I'm going on a mission with a former army officer, Arthur Braddock. He's real good at hiding, kept him safe all this time. You can't hurt what you can't even find. I don't know how to wrap this up....I want to say I'll be dead if you read this, but I might be worse than that. I want to say the world is saved, but that would be farthest from the truth.....so I'll just sign off and say God help us all. This is Josh Mardon, the Thunderbird.

Josh put down his small battered journal and walked out of the room. He would never be back, he knew that. Even if he survived he couldn't stay in one place for long or he'd be hunted down in a moment. Out in the open, he crouched low, remembering the ways of the hunter and hunted that Romulus had taught him. A few feet away the ground moved. Josh turned rapidly, sparks shooting from his fingers. But it was only Arthur Braddock, Terrain. He was a grizzled old man, one of the tough general types. Without a word he started to walk in the opposite direction. Josh followed silently.

Towering against the sky was a great metal structure. This was their goal. Inside was the precog Orpheus Ziev. This man had once thought he would start a new era in humanity. But now he was little more than a machine. Captured by Final Arrow, electrodes hooked up to his brain. Practically comatose, but his visions are projected onto monitors for Final Arrow's scientists to go over at their leisure. Josh and Terrain snuck up to the armored side of the building. They had studied schematics, blueprints, guard schedules for years now. If this failed....well they wouldn't think about that at this point.

...so I'll just sign off and say God help us all. This is Josh Mardon, the Thunderbird. (The last statement is crossed through angrily, the page torn where the pencil bit through)

The mission was a failure. At first everything seemed to be going according to plan. Arthur and I approached the facility where Ziev was being held. I punched through the wall, and we ran in. The place was enormous. Monitors everywhere, each showing something different. In the center of the room was a huge pool of some nutrient solution. A glorified fish-tank. Ziev was on a raft in the center, attached to all kinds of tubes and electrodes. He looked old and withered, a husk of a man. His hair was completely white, and his muscles had atrophied to almost nothing. Just skin and bones and brain. Constantly monitored. Poor man, this must be so different from what he pictured his life to be....well, we were going to put him out of his misery and take most of the facility with him if we could help it. But somehow we overlooked a truly key variable. One that was so glaringly obvious it stayed hidden. We were trying to sneak up on a precog.

When we burst through the wall they had been expecting us. Gunfire rained down. Terrain was killed almost instantly. My instincts were sharp enough for me to create a magnetic field around myself, shield myself from the bullets. I ran towards the tank hoping to make my last stand. And ran into empty air. The whole thing was nothing but an elaborate hoax. Final Arrow is smart...he knows that a big structure like that will attract attention. A metal shell around a hologram. The real facility must exist somewhere, but no one like me is going to find it.

When I realized I'd been had, I considered letting them kill me then and there. They were closing in, and magnetic field or not I wasn't going to be able to stop all of them. But I wasn't going to become another specimen. I don't call myself the Thunderbird just because I can create pretty storms. No, Romulus taught me much, much more. In a crackle of lightning I transformed myself into a being of lightning and rain. I flew through the wall and fled into the night. I know I shouldn't have returned here, but I have no where else to go. I haven't seen another rebel (other than Arthur), for years. I could be the last. So I guess I'll just keep running until my time is up. Who knows? Anything could happen. Stranger things have happened. Haven't they?

Return to the Present

The Triumvirate of Josh's time wanted to return to the past. Josh was selected as the test subject for their time-machine. They kidnapped him, and activated the device.

Josh was thrown back through time…but not just time. Due to the imperfections of the time machine, Josh was thrown into a parallel universe…one in which the war would never happen, but all else was the same. But he didn't know that.  Josh then tried to convince everyone of the impending war. Every person was an enemy…and those who weren't seemed to have the faces of the dead.

Josh must overcome his Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder if he wants to live his days in peace…but it seems peace may never be had for Josh Mardon.

But things were not yet stable for Josh…temporal instability morphed him back into a teenager, and repressed all memories of his future years. Looking for a foundation, he applied to Young Justice. Of course, if they'll be able to deal with this teen is another question.

After a short stint with Young Justice, Josh had another temporal instability induced growth spurt…this time to his late teens. Feeling a fair amount of angst, and a lot of anger at the world, Josh joined the street gang the Bad Brains.

Powers

Weather control---Lightning, hurricanes, thunderstorms, hail, Earth's magnetic field etc.
Thunderbird---Josh can turn into a Thunderbird. In this state he is nearly impervious to physical attack, and can create catastrophic weather conditions.
