I prefer DC because I read superhero stories to escape, not be reminded of the social ills of today. Modern Marvel comics are often juvenile, filled with slang, liberal ideas and memes only teenagers or tumblrites could appreciate.

Here here! I'm about as liberal as they come, but I don't want to read about it from super heroes in a comic book. And news flash to my fellow liberals, we wouldn't like it if for some reason Marvel books were all about conservative politics. Marvel is just trying to be hard to be trendy both with their references of technology and online culture and socially. Their lack of focus on good storytelling has resulted in a mess of a fiction.

DC has kept things nice and tidy since New 52 and I've really enjoyed that. Now, I'm cautious about what Rebirth is going to do. But, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

I actually like Marvel characters a ton more. However, Marvel is turning itself into such a gimmicky, pandering, directionless sh*t show that I'm forced to settle for reading DC comics. And to be fair, there are several DC heroes I really do love, so, y'know, I'm just thankful DC is providing me this alternative!!

DC should worry about diversity at the same time they start worrying about climate change, sustainability, balancing the US deficit, feeding the hungry, and sheltering the homeless. In other words, they make comic books. They should use whatever characters they need to tell the best story. When you want to solve problems, you do that in what we call the real world.

Off the top of my head...

Jim Lee

Scott Bachalo

Greg Land

... those are probably my top 3. The top two are solid but if I thought about it longer I would probably swap the controversial Land for someone else.

1. Colossus

One of my all-time favorite super heroes. I don't like the beard. But, everything else has about him has been pretty cool so far.

2. Magik

Not nearly as likable as in the previous Uncanny run, but still cool. I'd like to see her relationship with Peter be more than just brow-beating him into action and then whining about how she doesn't need his protection.

3. Iceman

One of my old favorites. Pretty cool so far. See note below.

4. Nightcrawler

Another one of my old favorites. So far he has been reduced to a lame role of driving the plot forward via his disempowerment. However, I hope they snap him out of that soon and I'm hoping there won't be any lingering effects. Stop trying to make these big shake-ups, Marvel! Just give us the heroes we like doing cool stuff!

5. Storm

It's Storm. She's pretty much always fine. Only gripe so far is that she's making some of the speeches that Cyclops was vilified for last run. Doesn't really make sense why it's OK for her to do it when Cyclops was considered a "terrorist" for the same "threats."

6. Jean

The O5 need to go back.

7. Logan

Logan should not be old.

8. Forge

Could not care less about Forge.

9. Iceman when he's reduced to a "oh no I'm gay!" character

I wonder how many months/years we won't be able to read about Iceman without some reminder than he's gay and it's difficult..... nevermind that he lives in a house and world with someone who looks like Glob. But, no, liking other dudes is really gonna get some harsh judgement in this crowd?? pleez.

In many ways, these are THE X-Men designs for me.

1. Archangel

2. Magneto

3. Psylocke

4. Sabretooth

5. Monet

6. Mystique

7. Fantomex

What is the most recent situation with Arch/Angel, btw? It's so hard to keep up with all the craziness the writers put his character through. When did he become an empty shell and do we think he'll be a drone for a long time or is this just a first arc thing?

How is Uncanny doing comparatively? All New has been hot garbage and Extraordinary has been... meh. I really like Uncanny so far even though we've only had 3(?) issues.
