2017 animation worst moments

So like every year there always something great and bad. Here I just want to focus on the bad before I talk about the good. 2017 definitely has it share of bad moments in animation. I just going to focus on some the more mainstream problems in animation, and focus later on the more obscured and want to see your thoughts. Also this is in no particular order.

1. All the sexual harassment. Ugh. There been a number of sexual harassment coming to light, and animation is not safe either, from the Loud House creator, to voice actor like Jeffrey Tambor and even to legendary people like John Lasseter who shape the animation industry with his work in Pixar. It sucks that a guy that shape many childhood, is capable of this. I mean working in animation is already hard, but having to be sexually harass on top of it, and having to decide to stay quiet to keep working in the industry, or be potentially black listed is just terrible and disgusting. It seem like woman in animation are trying to work together to improve this situation as honestly it does not look the company will actually do anything to drastically improve the work place environment. Even other country are not safe, with the creator of Rurouni Kenshin being charged of possession of child pornography (actual pornography and not drawings). Well I guess the silver lining is all this creep are at least being discovered.

2. Emoji movie made money. EMOJI MOVIE MADE MONEY. With a 50 million dollar budget, it made over 200 million dollar. This is what I was afraid of after seeing Kubo and the two string failed while other obnoxious movies with dance sequence succeeded. Sure Troll, Secret life of Pet, and discount zootopia were not horrendous, but it did seem like only Pixar and Disney are allow to make more matured theme animated movie, while others have to be loud and colorful to be successful. Emoji movie prove that despite it being a horrendous walking advertisement. That not even me mentioning how all the stupid looking movie turn out to be stupid looking movie to appeal to kids like god dammit. Also to add insult, this is in the oscar potential nomination list. Just the thought of that disturb me. I hate the fact that I am starting to hate every animated movie trailer. Can I just have more anime movie not be released in theater thirty minute away from me and be better advertise so I am aware that they are playing and not be only two or even one week released.

3. Netlfix and Anime Strike. Lately some of the best anime have not stream in Crunchyroll, but instead Netflix and Amazon. Yes Crunchyroll is not perfect, but compared to Netflix and Amazon, it might as well be. Netflix and Amazon have been annoying the hell out anime fan. With Amazon double paid wall where people have to have an amazon subscription to get anime strike even if they don't want it, fast subbing for some of their god damn movies, poor advertising, etc is easy to see why people are mad at amazon strike, especially when they are getting some top notch anime that most people won't see unless they pirated it. Netflix seem to be stepping up its game in getting anime, which should be great except they are taking it away the right from Crunchyroll and competing with them and releasing them over 6 month later. Anime fan are used to seeing the episode by a weekly basis. People won't wait for them to be released later when they can see it now in other pirated websites. While other people will just watch other anime. Making shows that should be more popular among anime fans, be underrated like Little Witch Academia, my personal favorite anime of the year. One Punchman, Sword Art Online, Attack on Titan were popular first with anime fan, before more general audience became fan. While I appreciate the fact that when they do released the anime it comes with dub and different language, I feel like they need to change. At the very least let Crunchyroll have the right to stream the sub please. This topic has been done to death, but I will say that some of the nice thing are some of their original anime project that they are funding, even if two of them was Neo Yokio and Death Note live action............SCREW YOU.

4.Olaf Frozen Adventure. UGH. I am sort of glad I did not saw Coco with my parents, because they would be bugging me if this is the stupid movie, and would be miserable watching this short. Coco was a great movie (even if it had many generic trope), it had matured theme, looks beautiful, great song and captured Mexican culture and as a hispanic I was a bit happy seeing this. While I personally like Lego Batman and Captain Underpants more, is still an animated movie people should watch. That being said, I would wait for them to take out the Olaf short before it as it was 21 freaking minute long. Driving people patient, and it does not help that is so vastly different from the movie Coco. I mean I already got to wait 20 minute for trailer, now I am watching one for Frozen new merchandise. People hated the short, with Mexico especially hating it and already taking it out with other theaters in the US doing the same. It also rose up controversy over Disney not believing in a movie about Mexican, which is something Disney would rather avoid. Whatever the reason they put this Christmas special, it definitely backfired.

5.Szechuan Sauce. Rick and Morty season five was fun, with some flaws. It became more popular and more main stream. Unfortunately like anything that get popular the fandom starts to get annoying with their meme and jokes. I swear if I see that IQ joke one more time I will somehow transport my body into the computer and punch you across the screen. Well the most infamous example of the annoying fan base was the Szechaun Sauce incident in McDonald. Although to be fair it was mainly McDonald fault for mismanaging this event and only having twenty sauce and having it be a one day event. Well this cause a riot in McDonald causing multiple incident and the fan looking like asshole. But you see people did not saw the subtlety of their action as you need a................................aempvnndfsuakw-0s}AJ({*Shzd ubyb dcjsvuif

6.Death.People die every year, every month, every day, every hour, every minute, every second and is depressing to think. Unfortunately people in animation are no exception. From Bulma japanese voice actor Hiromi Tsuru, to creator of Highschool of the Dead and Triage X Daisuke Sato, to someone nobody known at all Xavier Atencio who work for Disney and work on their theme ride and wrote the song "Yo Ho (A Pirate life for me) for the Pirate of the Caribbean ride. Also Adam West I would include as apparently they might have been more animated Batman 66 movie if he was still alive unless someone replace him. There are way to many people to name, so just respect to all the people who work hard to entertained us. May they Rest in piece.

7.Cartoon Network. Love TEEN TITAN GO!?If you do, I respect your opinion even though I think the show is only occasionally funny, and usually cringe worthy induced vomit that only saving grace is that is not Ben Ten or Power Puff Girl reboot. Granted I don't see tv often, and it seem like tv is dying, so they are simply not taking that much risk and just relying on what work. I get it, but this is just making me have more reason to not watch tv. It is pushing shows like Adventure Time to the side, wtf. It is very annoying and hurting growth for other shows. Luckily Netflix is acquiring some of the promising pilot like 12 forever from Cartoon Network, and O.K K.O got made, but Cartoon Network is not looking so good, and it might just waiting its slow dead and switching to online platforms. So does that make Teen Titan Go the seven horseman of the apocalypse for tv, I said yes, but that just a theory, a JGames theory.

8.Anime movie adaptation. Another year of bad anime adaptation to the big screen. Granted I did personally like "Ghost in the Shell" but it seem to be mixed, with people at best finding it okay or absolutely hate it. Death Note was released in Netflix and was very poorly received despite Netflix great reputation. Granted again some people at best somehow found this boring film to be okay, but either way getting a good anime movie adaptation that is universally love is not coming any time sooner. Still better than most of the garbage video game movie at least.

9.Harley and Nightwing sex scene. Bruce Tim, I love you, but stop with the sex fetish you are having. Last year you had the controversy with Batgirl and Batman, which to be fair that was the least of my problem and did not bother me that much. This, however, was one of the worst fan fic brought to screen. While I thought the movie was okay, is still fascinate me how this happen. I might had been okay if this was all Harley dream, but it wasn't. The reason this is on the list, is not because the scene alone, but because I am worry that whatever Bruce Tim touch when he not touching himself will be disappointing. DC animation is what I expect to flourished, and I don't want that to change and this has me worry. This also coming from someone who actually like all their new 52 movies. Also you had FREAKING POISON IVY. If you were going to make a fan fic sex scene, make one with Harley and Poison Ivy, you monster. Although prop to the voice actor of Harley who did an excellent job.

10.Elsa Gate. Youtube is not safe from worst animation moment. While technically this has been a thing since last year, the growing trend of disturbing animation aim at kids that would have multiple famous character have started this year. With disturbing videos posing as kid friendly, having disturbing video of shitting, peeing, dying, pregnancy, abortion etc under the disguise as well known kids cartoon. While sickening and does show that parents should pay attention to what their kids are watching, I am glad to hear that Youtube is doing something about it, and have started attacking those type of videos. Still is disturbing to know that someone was making money out of perverse video aim at kids, by taking advantage of how Youtube work.

Share what you thought was some of the worst moment in animation for 2017.
