The Rajasthan Royals (RR) side of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been able to reveal the best Indian talents over the 12 years of the IPL. Players such as Karun Nair, Stuart Binny, Sanju Samson, Ajinkya Rahane and more have emerged as known names in International Cricket after making a mark for RR in the IPL.
Rajasthan Royals were the first team to grab the 2008 inaugural edition of the IPL under Shane Warne, and Rahul Dravid went on Captain the side in the next IPL season. Ajinkya Rahane and Steve Smith have also been able to lead the Team in some decent seasons ever since 2008.
Even though the Team has not lifted the Cup again, they have been able to record some vital records in IPL’s history. Yet the biggest of the Cricket experts find it tough making today’s match prediction for such games that RR was involved in. Let’s have a look at the leading 5 records that the Rajasthan Royals have been able to set in the IPL.
The highest successful run chase
Playing in its 9th match of the IPL in 2008, RR successfully chased a target of 215 against Deccan Chargers (now, defunct) in Hyderabad. The home team rode on the ton of Andrew Symonds and went on post a huge 214. Taking 2 for 20, Yusuf Pathan was the leading bowler for RR. In reply, Yusuf Pathan and Graeme Smith shared a partnership of 98 in only 7.2 overs to set the platform for a chase. Pathan scored 61 runs off only 28 balls while Smith made a 45 ball 71. After the duo departed, Mohammad Kaif scored 34 off 16 and Shane Warne 22 in 9 balls to help the side win in the 20th overs. Pathan was handed the Man of the Match award of his swashbuckling all-round performance.
Highest Team score while batting 2nd (Shared)
While the Rajasthan Royals hold the record of chasing the highest run in IPL, the side has also posted the highest total in a losing match. Batting first, the Chennai Super Kings rode on Murali Vijay’s ton to pile up 246. In response, Rajasthan Royals fell short of the target by 23 runs and yet could score 223/6. A major contributor was Shane Watson, who hit 60 in 25 balls. While playing in an IPL 2017 game Vs Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians matched RR’s record while batting second. Mumbai was also the losing side in the match like the Rajasthan Royals. Many people could successfully go-ahead by reading cricket match predictions on fantasy Cricket platforms for the match.
Most hat tricks by the side (Shared)
Along with Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals holds the record for most hat tricks by an IPL Team. The Jaipur-based IPL Team has produced 4 hat tricks in the IPL history. Ajit Chandila was the first RR bowler to do that in IPL 2012 Vs Pune Warriors India. 2 years later in 2014, Pravin Tambe achieved the feat in a match Vs the Kolkata Right Riders. Shane Watson, after a few days, emerged as the first RR pacer to get a hat trick. In 2019, Shreyas Gopal joined these bowlers by scalping a hat trick against RCB. Users making successful today’s match prediction on virtual platforms by picking these hat trick bowlers were the ones accumulating more points.
The lowest run rate in an innings
The winner of the 2008 season of the IPL also holds the record for the lowest Team score (58) for almost 10 years before RCB (49) grabbed it from RR in 2017. No Team wants to have such records, but one side that still has a shameful record is RR. It holds the record for having the lowest run rate in an IPL inning. During the 2009 match in the IPL Vs RCB, the latter batted first and scored only 133. Despite making it look like a standard chase, RCB bowled RR out for only 58. Anil Kumble did the unthinkable for RCB by producing a magic spell of 5 for 5 in 3.1 overs. In the process, the RR Team could produce a devastatingly lower run rate of 3.82 – the lowest ever by an IPL Team.
Fewest loses in an IPL season
The Rajasthan Royals also holds the special record of having the least number of defeats in an IPL season. They went on to achieve this amazing feat during their Title campaign in 2008 IPL. In the first IPL season, the RR Team lost only 3 of their matches. They went on to win 11 of the 14 games in the league stage to ride the table at the top. The Shane Warne’s side then defeated Delhi Daredevils (DD) in the Qualifier., many users have been successful in making correct match predictions in matches involving RR. Sadly, users indulge in a match for RR, being on the losing side as the Team has lost its sheen over the years.
