Powers Activate:  Form of Justice League Membership

No Caption Provided

The Justice League missed the mark before the reboot ignoring some great possible members.

Membership drive here we come!

List items

  • Element Girl (Urania "Rainie" Blackwell)

Pre-52 Justice League International missed a great opportunity by not including Element Girl. Russian, long established, and not much used. That is until she had a talk with Death.

  • Karate Kid (Val Armorr)

This Legion members’ time was wasted when the JLA didn’t grab him up as a member. Even Superman says he is as good or better than Batman in a fight.

  • Chronos (Walker Gabriel)

The Justice League missed a chance to rehabilitate this anti-hero/thief with the ability to walk through time. Limbo claimed him, and probably will never let him go.

  • Icon (Arnus)

With the purchase of the Milestone stable of characters I thought Icon was a sure fire candidate for the League. They established a history between him and Superman, and then the characters seemed to just go away. DC needs to use them.

  • Hardware (Curt Metcalf)

And speaking of the Dakotaverse here is another hero who DC and the Justice League missed the boat on.

  • Gold

At least one of the Metal Men should have made the League by now. Why not the leader?

  • Miss America (Joan Dale)

How has the Golden Age Miss America been overlooked? She hasn’t aged a day. And honestly she has been poorly treated. After the Crisis she was retroed into the JSA but really has never had adventured with them. Then she shows up in the Freedom Fighters with her strange new look. Come one, do something about this.

  • Bulleteer (Alix Harrower)

Technically she was a member for about a minute during “52”. And now she has completely gone into obscurity. She was one of the best creations under Morrison’s Seven Soldiers. “52” abused a character with potential by using her Justice League as a joke.

  • Jack Hawksmoor

Jack may have one of the most unique super powers ever by linking to the soul of the city he is in. He’s cool and dangerous. He really doesn’t duplicate any of the JLA.

  • The Doctor (Habib ben Hassan)

Another from the Authority that I think was interesting. While I would rather see the one before Habib I can see the diversity here.

  • Mera

One of the most over looked heroes who should have at least had a short run with the League. She is powerful. Not to mention she is more popular than so many of the characters who have had a membership.

  • Firehawk (Lorraine Reilly)

Another of the “52” members who were Justice League for only a couple panels. Give her a chance. Besides she looks really cool.

  • Tattooed Man III (Mark Richards)

He was made an honorary member and could have been a great member, before he went back to the dark side with the Titans for Hire.

  • Sargon the Sorcerer (John Sargent)

Another honorary member that had great promise to be a member. Not like being dead keeps you from being a member but it might be his problem.

  • Tempest (Garth)

The only of the original Titans who hasn’t had tenure with the Justice League. Not only is he great in the water but a mage as well.

  • Merv Pumpkinhead

Agent Pumpkinhead would be a fun and great addition. Besides everyone dreams and that is where he is the most powerful.

  • Dumb Bunny (Athena Tremor)

The strongest of Inferior 5, actually on par with Wonder Woman. Just not as smart. Besides she is my favorite DC character.

  • Robotman (Cliff Steele)

Of all the Doom Patrol members I always thought that Robotman would be the best candidate for JL membership.

  • Nightshade (Eve Eden)

Nightshade has been a member of the Suicide Squad and Shadowpact. I think she would be a great addition to the League. Maybe the best place would have been Extreme Justice, but alas that too is gone.

  • Grace Choi

The Outsiders that Grace Choi came out of was, in my onion, the best Outsiders before they turned one of their members into a monster. And Grace was the best of this best. She was loud, powerful and free.

  • Swamp Thing (Alec Holland)

Considering how big a player Swamp Thing has been in the many big cross over's throughout the DC history I would think at least one offer of membership would have been made.

  • Northwind

Any of the members of Infinity Inc. would have made great members, and several did. But I was always partial to Northwind. And once he changed forms I really loved how he looked.

  • Frostbite

Frostbite came to notice with the team Young Heroes (in Love). He might be an immortal. With great powers.

  • Ram (Takeo Yakata)

Another candidate for Justice League International. He hails from Japan and was created by the Guardians and the Zamarons. A member of the New Guardians who had a stupid death off screen.

  • Bigby Wolf

The best character of Fables to be in the League. He is powerful and son of the North Wind. Would have loved to see in the Justice League.

  • Promethea (Sophie Bangs)

The last on my list is the two parts of Promethea. A fantastic character. Maybe her world and that of the Justice League will never collide, but what a great member she would made.

  • Sophie Bangs

    The Earthly host of Promethea.
