Best of 2013

No particular order as all the books are quite varied by genre and amazing in very different ways. 2013 was a good year for comics. :DDD

Also, be aware that I don't have the funds or the time to read every comic that gets published. I'm sure there are some real gems that were released this year that I have not had the chance to read yet. That's what Trades are for. :)

List items

  • I lied, this is absolutely the best comic that has been released EVER. Lots of nice graphic designs, the Beatles as scientists, really interesting articles in the middle of the issue and a Fantastic Four Origin like scenario that's causing a GIGANTASMIC dilemma for just about everyone in the book. Also, the art is just about the cleanest thing I've ever seen.

  • Nick Spencer has a lot of fucked up shit going on in his head to be able to write a book like this but I absolutely love it. Lots of reviewers find it to be too much but I think this Horror book gets it just right with its insane horror elements and morbid humor.

  • Brian K. Vaughan hits another home run and has me seriously questioning why he didn't choose baseball as his career choice. Vaughan creates a new and unique possible future for us with a lot of interesting ramifications filled with attention grabbing character designs and topnotch art.

  • Nick Spencer without a doubt has the widest range in comics today. He goes from extremely morbid in Bedlam to absolutely hilarious in the Superior Foes of Spider-Man. This book does what it sets out to do and it makes you laugh.

  • As a person that keeps up with politics, this books first issue made me fall in love with this series and Larks art and the way he commands fight scenes and movement are absolutely praiseworthy.

  • This book is beautifully drawn with attention grabbing colors and reinvents a world that many people already hold close to their heart. This is how you do a reboot.

  • Mark Millar and Frank Quitely are firing on all cylinders creating a brand new Super Hero world that is as brutal as it is as beautiful to watch events in a super hero family unfold.

  • Paul Pope does what Paul Pope does best, he draws. The real magic in this book however is the work the colorist does in order to bring this world to life.

  • One part Western, one part crime procedural, one part hardboiled sci-fi and one part horror story. Storm Dogs offers an incredibly vivid and thought out and fully realized world.

  • I almost don't want to write an explanation for Hawkeye because I feel it's already been bashed into the head of every comic book reader that they should be reading this book. WELL, YOU SHOULD READ IT. DO IT NOW, I DEMAND IT!!!

@madeinbangladesh: @battle_forum_junkie: Thanks guys

I really want to start Waid's Daredevil but I refuse to jump onto it before finishing Bendis' Daredevil run. I bought the first Ultimate Collection and loved it but there are two more and I just don't have the dinero. :(
