Izaiah's Origins

Early Years

There isn't much to say about Alexander Drake's early childhood. Born and raised in New York City, loving parents, older sister, all that. For the most part, the most remarkable thing about his life is that he learned and understood new languages very easily. Maybe unnaturally easily.

At age 7, Alex was present in a car when an accident happened, caused by some drunk driver. His mother didn't survive. Supposedly - though he didn't remember it - the paramedics found Alex outside, barely injured at all, and with his seat's belt still being fastened inside.

Starting not long after that event, usually once in every couple of months, Alex would just disappear into nothing. And reappear elsewhere - not always in places where he was allowed to be. On other occasions, time would speed itself up or slow itself down - with only Alex appearing to notice it. While a small part of him was morbidly curious about his power's potential, he was more disturbed by it than anything else. His father, understanding and trying to help, encouraged him to recognize the pattern between the events, and learn to control the power better from there. Alex only made a token effort into controlling it, focusing mainly on becoming unremarkable and inoffensive, to avoid accidentally manifesting his powers or in any way draw any attention.
