Well, I guess I am a little sensitive about it because we were threatened with a lawsuit. And somehow we got out of it because the characters had passed beyond the statute of limitations [DC didn’t act when the Squadron Supreme first appeared several years back].

(Generally speaking, the statute of limitations on copyright infringement is three years of the discovery of the infringement – clearly, DC knew about it back in the early 1970s because they were PART of the debut of the Squadron Supreme!)

In that same interview, however, Gruenwald explained the real reason why the series didn’t go past a maxi-series, “I have approval to do a Squadron Supreme one-shot Annual special – double-sized – originally intended as an epilogue. However, there’s not a great demand for a continuation of the series.”

so...they did try something but it was too late?

Yeah, but Pre-Crisis Black Adam was indestructible. I don't see how Orion will do any damage to him.

you didn't tag him.

Saitama dies from the shockwave of Superman and Hulk's punches. Then Superman wins...because he has a lot more over Hulk than just speed.

for real! I saw a thread asking 'Should Flash be banned from battle forums?' like...what? countless people have beaten Flash; bloodlusted or not. All because he's fast doesnt mean he's unbeatable.

Why would they? Their inspirations, some are parodies or just have fleeting resemblances if anything.

both are powered by the Sun, have super speed, Super strength, Heat vision, etc. they even draw Hyperion exactly like Superman sometimes. I'm not trying to start a team Marvel/Team DC war here, because some people are sensitive on this issue (for whatever reason). I just want to know for educational purposes.

Marvel never did anything about Namor.

Or Imperiex.

DC sued Fawcett Comics for Captain Marvel because they thought he was a Superman ripoff.

thats why I asked, because they did it in the past. I was just wondering if they did try something with Marvel; but Marvel just had better lawyers or something.

At the same time DC didn't do anything about Quicksilver or Quasar. Or Deadpool.

creator of Deadpool and Deathstroke are close friends and created the two together .

1. So by that logic anybody who absorbs solar radiation is a Superman ripoff?

Ok.

lol are you trying to state that Hyperion isn't a Superman rip-off? It's clear as day that he is

2. Well, Fawcett was smaller and more likely to go out of business because of a huge lawsuit. DC did it to be spiteful and weed out competition...certainly good from a strategist standpoint, but still despicable.

Marvel however? They're a huge juggernaut. Even during the 80s-90s yes they were struggling, but I doubt DC would sue them. Marvel certainly wouldn't sue them because they've been owned by WB since the 60s.

I've said it before it is karma that they have the Captain Marvel name. Because DC can be really petty at times.

so, Theoretically the only reason neither have sued one another is because the company is too big? if a smaller company did the same thing in modern day would they get in trouble?
